Oldie Moldie Monday

I have been missing in action but hope now to get back on track and post more often again.  I needed to make a sympathy card.  A friend's son passed away.  My go to stamps for sympathy cards when a males has passed away is trees.  I chose to you a Basic Grey 6 x 6 pad called Basic Black Dress - it is amazing how nice a masculine card can be made with this paper.

The tree and sentiment were stamped in Versamark and I used Zing brown embossing powder.  The tree stamp is from Penny Black and the sentiment stamp is from Stampabilities.

I am entering this into the weekly challenge at Addicted to Stamps where this week's challenge is Anything Goes.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies - they still make great projects.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Monday - time to show some love to your old supplies.  I am continuing my posts on Monday with valentine cards using the same pad of paper.  This is my third card using this pad of paper.  The paper is from Michael's Recollection line.

I cut the base of my step card with my Silhouette.  It sure makes constructing this type of card very easy.  I recycled my card stock from commencement programs.

The image is from Lil' Inker Designs.  I stamped with black and clear embossed the image.  It really makes the image pop.  I colored it with Gelatos.  The sentiment is from SRM Stickers.  Added some ribbon and enamel dots and I have another valentine card made.

I even finished the inside with another sticker from SRM Stickers.

I am going to enter this into Addicted to Stamps Holiday challenge.

Everyone enjoy your Monday and try to show some love for your old supplies.

Playing With My Paper Smooches

Trying to get back into the swing of card making and planning ahead of what I need.  I have some birthdays coming up so wanted to get a head start on those December birthdays.  I thought I would play along with the weekly challenge on the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge.

This week it is a picture picture challenge.  I loved the picture this month.

I love the colors, the heart and the wood.  I used those as my inspiration for my birthday card.

Isn't this owl just the coolest - he is the largest owl in the set.  It has coordinating dies also to make your card making easier.  I took out some of my tension by distressing the edges of my paper.  If you would like to buy your own Paper Smooches stamps, you can pop over here.

I am also entering it in the weekly challenge at Addicted to Stamps - Anything Goes.

Friday - Time to Challenge Yourself

It is Friday - time to use one of my Unity Stamps and share on Friends With Flair.  It seems I am on a "make Christmas cards" kick.  If you look at last week's post, you will see that I used the same paper for this week's card.  The paper just goes so well with the dark brown embossing powder.

The image was done with Zing dark brown embossing powder.  I colored the tree with some distress paints just to add a little color to the image.  I then layered multiple layers of patterned paper.  Thus my other two challenges.

Addicted to Stamps - Make Your Mark - I colored my tree with distress paints

Virginia's View Challenge - Patterned Paper - lots of patterned paper on this card  The paper is from Simple Stories.

As I was putting my card together this week, I realized I had forgotten to add the beige pindots to my card from last week.  No wonder I kept looking at it wondering what it was missing.  The piece of paper came in handy this week and I made sure to put it on the card.

I must tell you (a peak into next week) that the card will be the same image only stamped in white embossing color.  I am contemplating what wacky colors I can use on it.  Any suggestions.

Enjoy your Friday - I have some fun planned for the week end so my card making will be a little limited plus next week I am staying with my grand dogs for a couple days.  I wonder what mischief we can get into.

Paper Smooches Wednesday

Once again time to play the weekly Paper Smooches Spark Challenge.

This week the challenge is Picture Paper.  They show you a picture and you use it to inspire your card.  Here is the picture for this week.

I took the colors from the picture - pink and teal.  I also saw the tape in the picture.  I chose three colors of washi tape and added it in different directions on my card.  After I applied the washi tape, I embossed the front in a new Darice snowflake embossing folder - of course, you know I needed a new snowflake embossing folder.  I do have lots of white card stock to use up so it is good to have some choices.  I matted them in bright pink.  I stamped one of Paper Smooches cute snowmen, did a little coloring with Copics and matted and pop dotted it.  A sweet sentiment was added.

If you wish to shop for your own Paper Smooches stamps, just pop over to their store.

I am also entering it into the weekly challenge at Addicted to Stamps.  Their challenge is Holiday.  My little men are getting ready for the Christmas holiday.  They will go into my Operation Write Home box so some Hero can send them home to family or friends.

Thanks for stopping by.

Vacation Over - Time to Make a Card

I was on vacation.  I did get in some play time on vacation.  I visited one of my dear friends who has moved to South Carolina on a beautiful lake to live out their retirement.  Beautiful home, beautiful location, beautiful friends.  I am looking forward to when I retire to go spend some time with them in the winter months to escape the winter cold.

On Friday's I like to use my Unity Stamps and play in their Friday Challenge - Friends With Flair.  I have used this stamp before but he is cute - maybe next week I will try to use another stamp.  Although I do have this same card in my head in a different paper grouping - blues and kraft - so you never know what will happen.  I guess you will have to stop by next Friday to see what I did.

I based the card on the current sketch at Deconstructed Sketches.  A nice sketch - lots of layers.  I used a muted color palette for my card - it is a new pad I got from Heidi Swapp.

The card will go in my Operation Write Home box.  It is a card that can be used throughout the Winter months because it is not holiday specific.

The current challenge at Addicted to Stamps Challenge Blog - Anything Goes.  Love those challenges.

Two days of work and then I have the week end to catch up on rest and things.  Enjoy your Friday.

CAS Sympathy Card

I am combining two challenges for this card.  Addicted to Stamps' weekly challenge is CAS.  CAS on Sunday is a sympathy card.

I find it very hard to make sympathy cards because when you are making the card, it is for someone you care about who has lost a loved one.  I have decided to get a few made for my personal supply or if someone asks me if I have any for sale.

A couple weeks ago I was playing with my distress inks - and making some backgrounds.  You can see a couple of the cards at this link that I made with my background play.  The cards are all very similar.  I had one more background made and it was already stamped.  This was the incentive to finish the card.  Thank you - you don't know how many cards I have sitting around waiting to be finished.

The background was made with distress inks squished on a sheet, sprayed with water and a damp piece of water color paper dipped in it.  I got a fairly even coating with it and did not do anything else to it.  The stamp is from Hero Arts.  This was the floral stamp and then a outline stamp.  I stamped it first in the turquoise ink and then the outline with black ink.  I added a few rhinestones to the center of the flowers to complete them.  I don't have many sympathy stamps so I used a sticker from SRM Stickers.  I had colored some paper to use for the sentiment.  I placed the sticker on the paper.  Cut it out freehand and to cover the edges, I ran the edge of a black copic marker around it to finish the white edges off.  The image is pop dotted on the card front.  I placed the sentiment directly on the image.  I did not want to make it too bulky for mailing.

Thanks for stopping by.  Thanks for helping me get one more unfinished card done.
