Happy Little Stampers December Stencil Challenge

It is time to participate in the December stencil challenge at Happy Little Stampers.   Our stencil challenge is always "anything goes."

I chose to make a baby card this month.  We have a new baby boy coming into the world and I knew I would need a card as soon as he arrives.

I had bought this cute vehicle layered stencil from Pretty Pink Posh when I knew the baby was going to be a boy.

I must admit I watched a video and used the same colors from the video I watched. My mojo has been sadly lacking so I knew this would help me in creating the card.

I first did some light blue ink smooshing on the background - I have a slight problem with completely white backgrounds.  The sedan is done with mowed lawn and lucky clover oxide inks.  The truck is done with candied apple and fired brick oxide inks.  The little card (which you can hardly see is salvaged patina and peacock feathers oxide inks.  The school bus is mustard seed and wild honey oxide inks.  I used the second color for each vehicle to shade the bottom.  It is an easy layered stencil to use.

Unfortunately I did have an issue with my stenciling so had to chop off the top row of vehicles.

Luckily I had just bought a set of sentiments that had a "welcome baby" sentiment.  I do not have much in my "too many supplies" that are baby related.

After trimming down the background, I matted it with bright green card stock and put it on a navy card base.

I was able to use the row I had to chop off to decorate the inside of my card.

I am ready for this baby to be born.  I just mailed a big box off to the family.

Happy Little Stampers December Christmas Challenge

Are you ready for Christmas?  Have you got all your Christmas cards made?  I always hope to have my first batch of cards mailed at the very beginning of December.  I usually end up with several trips to the post office.  I have already bought some Christmas stamps.  I am getting ready.  But I digress, are you ready?

The theme for the December Christmas Challenge at Happy Little Stampers is always Anything goes with an added option which this month is stencil.

I started with a background I did some light blue ink smooshing on.  I then used a stencil from darkroom door - small stencil - Bauble Set.  The details in the middle of the ornament were from an ornament stencil from Honey Bee Stamps. The colors of oxide ink used were mowed lawn, lucky clover, salvaged patina, peacock feathers and blueprint sketch.

I stenciled it and goofed up in my placement of the bow so I fussy cut out the bow and the ornament.  I was not having a good day of creating - I did three different stenciled backgrounds and managed to save two of them.  I did use one of the ornaments from the ruined background to decorate the inside of the card.

I used a dot stencil and added a clear sparkly gel to the background.  The ornament and sentiment were attached with foam.  I matted the panel with a bright green card stock and added it to a navy card base.

Here is a close up of the ornament.  I wrapped silver thread around the center of the bow so it matched the silver thread which was used as the hanger.  You can see the sparkle in the bow, background and on the center medallion in the ornament.  To add the sparkle to the bow I just rubbed a light layer of the glitter gel over the bow.

Here is the inside of the card where I glued the salvaged ornament from the ruined background.

Happy Little Stampers December Birthday Challenge

It is December - time for another birthday challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

As always our challenge is "Anything Goes".

I was intrigued by the November Sheetload of Cards design so decided to make one card using the layout.  The front panel is actually cut apart and it is connected back together with two design elements.  I really do like how it turned out.  You can find the video on YouTube at this link.

This card is for my niece Molly.  She is named after her grandmother - Molly Beatrice.  This is why there is a bee on the card.

The bee is from Honeybee Stamps.  The paper was from a kit so don't know who made it but I loved  the paper.

Here is a close up of the focal point and the opening.  It surprises me how nicely the card stands up.  The key to this is using a heavy card stock for your card base.

Please join us at Happy Little Stampers for our December Birthday Challenge.  You know you need birthday cards.
