April Happy Little Stamper's Watercolor Challenge

It is time for a new watercolor challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  As always, our challenges are the best because they are "anything goes".

I had a brand new stamp that I wanted to use.  I stamped the image in black and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  The floral stamp is from Sweet Huni Designs.  The designer is Julie Hickey.  I stamped it on Bristol smooth paper and colored it with my Tombow and Zig Clean Color markers.  I think I achieved some good shading with the markers.  It was fun to get the markers out and play with them because normally I reach for my pan watercolors.

The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.  It is an entire set of thank you sentiments.

I decided I wanted to frame my image so I cut four layers of the scalloped frame and glued them together.  I nested the sentiment directly on the image.  The scalloped framed image was placed on a black card base.  To complete the card, I added some pink sequins.

Here is a close up of some of the flowers and also the sequins.  The colors are so vibrant from the markers.

Here is a close up of the sentiment.  If you look, there is a heart sequin behind the sentiment.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Oldie Moldie Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.

While on vacation I colored up these sweet My Favorite Things image and decided I needed to make them into birthday cards.  Old image stamp, old sentiment stamp, old dies, old paper made by an old woman.

I made two of this card.  I did add the extra doodles on the wings and skirt.

Birthday Project

I went on vacation; I came home but my mojo stayed on vacation.  Today I forced it a little and I think the card turned out pretty good.

The challenge for the last couple weeks at Seize the Birthday is a sketch.  I used the sketch to make my birthday card.

I had this image already colored.  It is a My Favorite Things image.  I had to fussy cut it out because my die slipped and I did not have a rectangle.  I used a lavender paper and cut the scalloped rectangle with a die.  I pop dotted the image with foam tape and the sentiment has a couple strips of paper behind each piece to raise them.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.

I found this lovely Penny Black image on my design table already colored.  I found a small birthday sentiment and we have a card.  I love finding surprises like this on my table - it is almost an instant card.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies, they still make beautiful cards.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.  This year, Oldie Moldie Monday, is dedicated to birthday cards for nursing homes.

As I was rummaging for something, I came across a scrap piece of double sided pattern paper.  This piece of paper became this card.  I added some blue to mat the focal point.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.  I am making birthday cards for nursing homes with my Oldie Moldie Monday posts.

For this card design, I used the February Sheetload of cards layout and cutting instructions.

This card was made with the leftover pieces of patterned paper and card stock.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies, they still make wonderful cards.

Happy Little Stampers March Christmas Challenge

It is the time of the month when there is a new Christmas challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

This month the challenge is Anything Goes with the optional twist of Angels.

I chose to go with "anything goes" for my March Christmas challenge card.  I had this new stamp from Studio Light which I wanted to use.

I first did some ink smooshing on the panel which I was going to stamp on.  I used Evergreen Bough Oxide Ink.  I then stamped my tree stamp on this background with the same Evergreen Bough Oxide Ink.  There are many layers on ink on this tree to get a good cover.  Using a colored ink at least lets you know if you have good ink coverage.  After I was satisfied with my stamping, I heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I then stamped the area of the stamp with the two sentiments in black ink and fussy cut them out so they would pop on the evergreen bough tree and background.  I glued them flat to the card.  I have been trying to keep my cards flat for easier mailing.

I die cut the panel with a stitched rectangle die.  I was lucky enough to find at Michael's a glitter paper that matched perfectly so I used this for the mat to add some sparkle to my card.  It was all adhered to a black card base.

Here is a close up of the sentiment.

I even finished the inside of my card. I first did some ink smooshing to color the background and then stamped the sentiment in black. I made 4 cards like this.

Wanderlust Week Nine

This week our instructor was Kasia Avery.  We are starting a new month of study based on Serendipity.

This is my page and some close ups of some of the areas of the page.

I called this page "Determination".  Doesn't the lady look very determined.

I added gesso to the page and then color and some paper scraps and my image.  I then added white paint and after that more pink paint.

The pink circles are achieved by putting the end of the paint tube on the paper and giving a little squeeze.  After the circles were dry, I doodled the circles around them with a black pen.

In the picture below, you can see that I wrote determination around the woman three different times.  It added more black to the design but also the title.  I used my Posca pen to draw the leafy branches.  I used a Stablio pencil around some of the paper and the image to add some definition to their lines.

The entire piece was completed with black splatters to bring a little more black into the page.

Here is a close up of Miss Determination.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.  Oldie Moldie Monday has been dedicated to birthday cards for nursing homes.

This particular card - the stamp is really not that old - less than a year - but I stamped about 15 of these flowers and have only used a couple.  I did not want them to age any more in my supplies.

The stamp is from Altenew.  The sentiment and black striped paper are old supplies.  I have kitted five more of this design to make.
