Happy Little Stampers June Watercolor Challenge

How did it get to be June?  We have completed five months of 2021.  But on the bright side, it is time for a new watercolor challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

As always our watercolor challenge is Anything Goes.  These are the best challenges to do.  Of course, once again, I have done flowers.  I need to break out of this pattern.

The elements for my card are die cuts from Stampin Up.  This is their Poppy dies.  The sentiment is also a Stampin Up die shape.

The poppy bases are watercolor paper and colored with different shades of red and oranges.  There is a closer look at the flowers in pictures below the card so you can see the variation of color in the blooms.  The black outline was cut from a shiny black paper.  The center of the poppies are gold card stock.

The background for the card was done with ink smooshing and an oxide ink.  It adds a little color to the background.  The sentiment die was also smooshed in ink.

The sentiment was heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  A circle of gold vellum is behind the sentiment so that it pops off the background.  It is raised with foam so that a flower and the leaves can be tucked under the circle.  The large poppy and one small poppy are raised with foam.

The card was finished with gold splatter.

Here is a close up of the small poppies.

Here is a close up of the large poppy.  See the variance in color.

Here is a close up of the sentiment.

Please come and play along with our June Watercolor Challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.

I have so many 6 x 6 pads so I decided to make some junk journal embellishments to donate for sale for a non profit.  I was determined to use up this Basic Grey pad.  I threw away just a few scraps and even made two birthday cards.

For junk journal embellishments, I made a cluster (even used some old Prima flowers), a tag where I stamped a birdcage, hidden paper clip, envelope with small journaling card, a large pocket, a little note pad and some miscellaneous tabs.  These were fun to make.

I cut journaling cards to go along with each set.  Two of the journaling cards were decorated.  On one card I just added a dark brown tab at the top.  The second decorated journaling card had a paper lace trim added to it.

This birthday card was made from strips I had trimmed off different embellishments.  The brown mat was from the scrap bin and the sentiment was cut from the center of the brown mat.

This card was made from the image on the front of the 6 x 6 pad that showed  the designs in the collection.  I added a piece of dark brown trim.  I dry embossed this part of the card.  I matted it with kraft paper from the scrap bin.  The sentiment was heat embossed.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies, they still make great cards and other things in our paper creating journey.

Oldie Moldie Monday and a Sketch Challenge

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.  This week I let a sketch challenge from Paper Players guide my creativity.

I have a large and also a 6 x 6 pad of this paper from Fancy Pants Designs so decided to use paper from this collection for my paper choice.

The sketch is a very good one.  I have a "birthday project" I am working on so this is one more card for the project.

I like this sketch - it is easy to work with.  I did put my sentiment into the circle because I have this birthday sentiment I really like.  I did add a strip of paper to separate the top and bottom and also matted the main area.

Thanks for stopping by and remember to show some love for your old supplies.

Kraft Colored Happy Holidays Card

The flower used on this card is very well aged and it comes in a package of separate floral images.  There are multiple red but only two green.  The package has been laying there - taunting me - asking to be made into a card.  When I saw the current challenge at Christmas Card Throwdown where the challenge is to use the color "kraft", I made the decision to use the flowers - or at least three of the floral pieces.

I layered three of the flowers together for the floral focal point.  I added it to a dry embossed square of kraft paper which was matted with gold.  This was added to a dry embossed kraft front on a kraft card base.  I die cut the sentiment from the same gold as the mat and also a couple layers of kraft to give the sentiment some dimension.  Gold paint was splattered on the card front.

Kraft is a hard color to photograph but the card is very pretty.  I am going to make another card and I am water  coloring the red petals to make them a darker red.

I have been on a "where did the mojo go" creative lull so it was good to make a card.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.

As I was going through some things, I found a sheet of digital images I had not colored.  This was a digi image from Operation Write Home and it has a date of 2011 on it.  It has been hanging out in my supplies for a long time.

I colored the image with some distress oxide inks and added some gold Stickles to the center of the flowers.  I added some scraps of paper from the bins and had a card.

The card will be donated to a non profit.

Remember to show some love to your old supplies.

Happy Little Stampers May Christmas Challenge

It is time for a new Christmas Challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  Please come and play because when December comes around you will wish you had done a few more Christmas card challenges through the year.

At Happy Little Stampers our Christmas Challenge is always "anything goes" but we do offer an option for you - this month the option is Mistletoe.

My card is a version of the mini slimline.  I have a number of red envelopes similar to slimline cards so just adjusted my card base so that it would slide into my red envelopes.

I found a wonderful mistletoe die from Memory Box.  I die cut  the elements from watercolor paper because I wanted to watercolor my foliage.  I glued together two layers of the mistletoe which I had colored with different shades of green watercolor.  I cut the bow from one piece of red card stock and one piece of red foil.  The berries were cut from white glitter paper.
I smooshed my background in oxide ink to get the blue color.  I like the variance of color you get in your background when you do smooshing.  You can smoosh in watercolor also to get a nice color also.

The sentiment is from Gina K Designs.  It was heat embossed in gold embossing powder.  The front panel was matted with gold and then added to a kraft card base.   Of course, I finished the card with gold splatters.

Here is a close up of the mistletoe, bow and berries.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.

As I was cleaning, I found some address stickers a friend had given to me - they were beautiful but their name was spelled wrong and she thought I could make some cards out of them.  She gave them to me many years ago.  There were three different designs.

Here are the cards I came up with.

I also made some thank you notes and also hello notes using the same designs.  All old paper in my supplies were used to finish the cards.

Remember you can make old stuff into beautiful cards.
