Merry Christmoose

Very slowly I am starting to work on some Christmas cards.  I am going to be dog sitting so I have made a kit of this card so I can assemble a total of 5 cards.

The challenge at Merry Monday Christmas Challenge is to use a moose on your card.  I do have a few moose stamps.  My daughter lives in Alaska so it is a favorite subject for me.

The moose is a stamp from Gina K designs.

I am also entering the card in the weekly challenge at Addicted to Stamps where the challenge is holiday.

Thanks for stopping by.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday.  Time to show some love for your old supplies.  I made this card with things that were just laying on my design table.  I added some spray and had some fun with it.  I do like how it turned out.  It may not be too well aged but it was just pieces laying around.

Here you can see the spray.

I used a piece of patterned paper across the middle and then added for a pop of color a strip of distress oxide ink paper.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies.

Journal Page - Peace

This is a journal page I am entering into a contest sponsored by Dina Wakely and Ranger Inks.  The contest is to journal about putting the ME into our mixed media.

I believe what mixed media does for me is that it brings me inner peace.  My soul enjoys it and for a little while you forget your worries.  I like to do anything that makes my hands messy.

Lots of Dina Wakely paints (love the bright colors).  I also used the scribble sticks on the page.  I really like how the color on the peace symbols turned out.  They remind me of the 60's and 70's and tie dye.

I am not the best journaling person but I do have fun.

ICAD Cards Week Three

I must say it is getting harder to do these so when I get stumped - I just go off prompt and do whatever I want.

Day 15  This was a fun background.  I just used the little distress ink cubes and stamped them all over the page.  I then sprayed with water to get the starburst colored background.  Starburst remind me of a former student worker.

Day 16  Another fun background to make.  Once again I used the distress inks in rainbow colors and sprayed with water.  I then stamped some images on the front.

Day 17  I did this lettering myself.  You do need to keep stretching your skills.

Day 18  Spray background.  I then stamped the alphabet on the card front.  I have a collection of alphabet stamps.  Something about the alphabet intrigues me.  In the 80's I cross stitched many alphabet samplers which decorate my dining room.

Day 19  I took the lazy way out and printed a picture of gears and used some distress oxide inks for the background.

Day 20  This was a total lift from something I saw on the internet.  I could not get into the suggested prompt.

Day 21  This prompt I totally enjoyed.  The card is sprayed and then I stamped this huge stamp on the back of a pattern front.  I then made a collage of items from a sewing pattern.

Come back next week to see if I can make it through another week.

Oldie Moldie Monday on Tuesday

Once again laziness has struck and I did not get my pictures downloaded.  The card was made over the week end.

The stamped image was done before last Christmas and it was all cut out.  The white embossed paper is more graduation booklet paper.  The bear is mounted on a piece of vellum which curled when I sprayed it with Dazzling Diamonds.  The teal paper the sentiment (very old sentiment stamp) was from the scrap pile.

So remember, show some love to your old supplies or that stamped image that keeps floating around the design  table.  I have three little penguin images that are floating now - and I know what oldie moldie paper I want to use - but where is it is the question.

Enjoy your Tuesday.

I am featured on the Canvas Corp Blog today with a project for graduation cards.  How to use one design and one patterned paper and make a card for both a male and female graduate.

You can get the details on how to make the cards at this link.

Traveling Art Journal - May 2017 - Canvas Corp

I am participating in a Traveling Art Journal with fellow designers from the Canvas Corp Design Team.  We have two groups.  If you wish to see what Group 1 did with their journals for the month of May, just check this link out.

Here is my completed journal for the month of May.  I used the Mixed Origins paper for my focal images of shoes.  The beautiful lace like trim was part of the design on the paper also.  I did not let any of this beautiful paper go to waste.

Here is a close up of one page.  I am trying to embrace my hand writing and use it in my journaling.

Here is a close up of the other page.

Here are some pictures of the steps I used to complete my layout.
I colored the page with some Tattered Angels mist.

I fussy cut the shoes and lace from the paper.

I used a glimmer paste I had to add some shine to my shoes.

I added some silver embossing paste in the corner of each page.

I then used a darker shade of mist to add more color to the page.

I adhered the shoes and lace with gel medium and added my title for the page.  A few embellishments were added to the page to give it some more sparkle.

The Tattered Angel products I used are as follows:
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist - Patina
Tattered Angels Chalkboard Mist Paint - Teal High Heel
Tattered Angels Mixed Media Origins - High Heels

If you want to see what everyone else has created, pop on over to the Canvas Corp Brands blog and check them out.

This is a fun experience and I will be so excited when I get my journal back when it has made its trip around the world.

ICADS - Week two

These are my second week ICADS (index card a day).

Day 8  The pink die cuts are paint chips.

Day 9  More paint chips.

Day 10  Lots of bright colors.

Day 11  Fun one to make.

Day 12  Distress Oxide Ink Background.

Day 13  Stamped images first in distress oxide ink.  Sprayed with water.  After it was dry, came back in with outline image and stamped in grey archival ink.  Hand wrote butterfly.

Day 14  The background started with green blobs of distress paint that were leftover and I do not remember what else I did.

This next week the prompts are not so easy.  I need to put my creative thinking hat on.

Oldie Moldie Monday on Tuesday

Oops - I was lazy and did not post my picture yesterday of a card using old paper.  Believe me, this paper is very old.  I got it as a sample from CHA.  I have hung onto it for a long time.  I must have liked the colors.

I was participating in an exchange for cards with humor and this is the card I came up with.

The background is distress oxides.  The coat, skirt, shoes and purse were all stamped on the old pattern paper and fussy cut and glued to a main image.  Those shoes were very little pieces.  The other coloring was done with Copics.  Glossy Accents were added to her glasses.

The image was mounted on a wobbler so this fantastic babe wiggles.  It is really funny.

I even finished the inside of the card.

I hope the recipient likes it.  I want to make another one of these and I know the perfect person to receive it.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies.

New ATC Challenge at Happy Little Stampers

Happy Little Stampers is starting a new challenge this month.  The challenge is for ATC's.  You ask - what is an ATC.  An ATC is a mini work of art which measures 2.5  x  3.5 inches.  This can be a challenge but it is a fun challenge.

The challenge this month for the ATC's at Happy Little Stampers is Flowers.

My ATC started as a book page which had a layer of gesso added to it.  It was colored with blue distress inks.    I stamped a floral image on the front of the ATC and heat embossed it.  Basically all you can see of the stamped image is the stems.  I had some things hanging out on my creative desk for awhile and I put them to use on this ATC.  All the flowers were on different sticker sheets.  I just stuck them on where flowers were on the stem.  It was a good combination of flowers.  One of the sticker sheets had the red trim on it.  I cut it in half and added it to the top and bottom of the ATC.  I stamped the dots and added the sticker.  It was very fun to make.

Come join us at Happy Little Stampers and join us in our new ATC challenge.

Happy Little Stampers June Challenge Anything Goes With Dies

Hard to believe that June is here but the fun part is that it is time for a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers - Anything Goes With Dies.    This is a great challenge because "anything goes when you use your dies."

I have been loving playing with my Distress Oxide Inks.  I made the background for this card with the inks.  I recently found in my supplies this set of stamps that has this dandelion flower on it.  I embossed it with brown embossing powder.  I recently purchased the Wildflowers die cuts and this flower matches the stamp so well that I wanted to layer them on top.  I think I tried every color of oxide ink on the die cuts until I decided to use the blue (which I don't believe was in the background).  I wanted the dies to pop on the page so the blue did that.  I then stamped the little hello up in the corner.  A somewhat single layer card that packs a wallop in different design elements.

Here is a close up of the top of the card.  You can see how beautiful the background is, the brown embossed flowers and the blue die cuts.

Here is a close up of the bottom of the card.

Index Card For A Day

The Index Card For A Day (ICAD) challenge has started for 2017.  I decided to play along.  You do all your creating on an index card - you can use either the 4 x 6 or 3 x 5.  I went with the 4 x 6 size because I found enough in a desk drawer.  They were yellowed from age.  They must be leftovers from when the girls were in school.

With ICAD you are given some prompts and themes and you can follow them if you wish.  I guess the idea is for you to create every day.  Of course, for the most part, I do create every day.

Here are my index cards for the first week.

Day 1

Day 2 (I like this one.)

Day 3 (I really like this one.)

Day 4

Day 5

Day 6 (I really like this one also.)

Day 7

If you are interested, just go Google ICAD and you should be able to find more information.

June Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media Challenge

It is already June and it is time for a new Mixed Media Challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  This month your mixed media creation must include glitter.

I decided to make a birthday card for this challenge.  Glitter is always a wonderful accessory for a birthday card.  My card is a six inch square card.  The bicycle is a sticker and the sentiment is stamped.  The ribbon was died with the pistachio oxide ink.

Once again I got out my distress oxide inks and played with them.  I used the pink, pistachio and fossilized amber for my ink colors.  The bike and sentiment background only use the pink and pistachio inks.  The three colors were used in the main background paper.

I used a dark grey for the mat colors.  Grey is a softer color to use rather than black.

For my glitter, I added a Sparkle embossing paste through a circle stencil.  A happy accident happened as it dried.  The embossing paste absorbed the colors of the distress inks as it dried.

Here are a couple close ups of the final card.  The bow -

The sentiment -
