Happy Little Stampers April Watercolor Challenge

It is time for a new watercolor challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  Of course it is the best type of challenge because it is "anything goes" with the optional twist of bright.

Bright - that can be interpreted so many ways.  I chose to use some bright colors (yellow and orange) and to also watercolor just a portion of the stamped image and let the remainder be black and white so the colored part is bright.

This is a Penny Black Stamp that I stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder on watercolor paper.  I actually used a combination of watercolor paints and a few zig markers to color the image.

I die cut the circle out of the stamped image and then I did my watercoloring.  This way it was contained within the circle.  When I completed the card, the circle was inserted back into the opening but it is on foam tape to make the circle stand out even more.  It must be very careful to line it up carefully with the stamped image.  To help with the adjusting, I put a small amount of liquid glue on the foam tape so I can wiggle it around to make it as perfect as I can get something.

I colored a piece of card stock the same color as the orange flowers and stamped the sentiment in the same way as the image.  I cut it into a thin banner.  Since the circle was a little offset of center to the right, I placed the sentiment to the left side of the card.

This was a fun card to make.

Thank You So Much

It is so nice to be back home for an extended length of time (I did like escaping winter) but I did miss all my creative goodies.

I have been trying to get my mojo going so have been trying to do some different challenges.  I did do some on line shopping with a new stamp company to me The Stamp Market so I have been trying to use my new things from them.  I have made something every day using my new product.

Today's card is based on the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  This is such a versatile sketch.  At first I was going to make a landscape card but remembered this large Thank You stamp and this is what happened.

I colored a piece of card stock with distress oxide inks.  I also colored a strip of paper with the same ink but made the color very intense for the strip separating the two pieces of paper.  I dug out my favorite pad of black and white striped paper from My Favorite Things.
I really do like how my card turned out.

New Goodies From The Stamp Market

I recently discovered a new stamp company - The Stamp Market.  It all harmlessly starting with me wanting their big HI die and from there it was a downward spiral because I love their products.  I have ordered twice from them.  I even have a board on Pinterest called The Stamp Market.

This card combines a stamp and die set (the bears, heart and sentiment), the heart die and a stencil.

I saw this color combination on Gina K - loved the blue and green so was inspired to use those colors.

I am entering my card at Addicted to Stamps and More where their weekly challenge is Clean and Simple.  This is pretty clean and simple for me.

I am also entering it into the Wednesday Simon Says Stamp weekly challenge.  The challenge is
Anything Goes.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

ATC Challenge and Exchange

I am in a private card making group of Facebook and an exchange for ATC's just finished.  Our subject for the ATC's was vegetables.

The inspiration for my ATC came from a dish towel I saw.  It had the saying "I'm old but I don't carrot at all."

I hand drew my carrots and watercolored them while I was on vacation.  When I got home, I finished my ATC's.  The background is watercolor paper colored with a distress oxide ink.  The sentiment was made on the computer.  I watercolored paper for the fronds of the carrot and then cut them very thin.  After everything was adhered to the ATC, I did add glossy accents over the carrot and then did some doodling around the sentiment and in the corners of the ATC.

I am entering this into the weekly challenge at Shopping Our Stash.  The challenge is to make an ATC.  My paper is from an old journal I carry on vacation to draw in and my trusty watercolor supplies.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.  I am using well aged paper for these cards.

I watercolored the images on vacation.

This paper is from a 6 x 6 pad of Basic Grey paper.  Oh, I loved the paper from that company.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies - especially the paper that you have collected over the years.

While on vacation, I had stamped some of the Tim Holtz little punny animals and I watercolored them with my Zig markers or distress inks.  Once I returned home, I started to make a few cards.

I am going to enter this card into the current challenge at Addicted to Stamps to Make Your Mark

This is some very old paper I had in my stash.  I thought it paired nicely with this sweet little image.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies.

Happy Little Stampers March Christmas Challenge

How did it get to be March already?  Actually I am in Florida right now and I do hope the sun is shining.

As always the Christmas Challenge at Happy Little Stampers is Anything Goes with an optional twist.

The twist this month is tags.

I chose to use tags in the background or as the background of my March Christmas card.  I cut the tags with my Silhouette in two different sizes.  I adhered them to the card base with one right side up and the smaller one right side down with foam tape.  I then sprayed these layers with a silver mist.  It adds such a beautiful color and sheen to the white bases.  The snowflakes were cut from a teal glitter card stock from different snowflake dies.  I also cut smaller snowflakes out of silver glitter card stock.  The sentiment was cut from silver glitter card stock and several layers of white card stock.  By layering the sentiment together, you get a thicker sentiment that stands out on your card.

I first glued the sentiment to the right tag toward the bottom.  I then placed the snowflakes around the card.  There are three snowflakes on the large snowflake and the other two snowflakes each have two layers.

I tied two bows out of silver thread.  The top bow has more loops.  They were adhered into the holes on the tags with glue dots.

Here is a close up of the sentiment.

Here is a close up of the large snowflake and the larger bow that did not want to cooperate.  The loops on the right side did exactly what they wanted to do no matter how I tried to persuade them to so something different.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.  I luckily found all the paper for this card in my scrap bin.  The sentiment was stamped with distress oxide ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
