Once again it is time to dig out all your mixed media stuff and play along with the new challenge at Happy Little Stampers.
This part of the challenge did give me some trouble. I only had crackle embossing paste. I could not achieve what I wanted. On my second try I had put the tinted embossing paste through a stencil with large circles. I liked the circles but not on the sheet of colored watercolor paper. I fussy cut the circles out and you will see in the example I used my crackled circles to hold a googly eye. No Halloween card is complete without a googly eye.
Here is my card or cards that I made for the challenge.
The images are from The Graphics Fairy. I don't have too many Halloween stamps and I wanted to make something different I could send out this year. All the papers have been well aged in my stash. I did need to go buy a bigger googly eye to fit my crackle circles. All the paper was distressed with my Tim Holtz distress tool.
Here is a close up of my purple crackle circles. I used a Dina Wakely stencil to make them.
Here is the first layer of papers.
To make the paper background more interesting, I first attempted to add embossing paste tinted with Dina Wakely paint through a stencil. I did not like that so I attempted to remove it and this was the result I got. I decided to go with it. It was a happy accident. Up in the right hand corner, I then took the thick bodied paint I used to tint the embossing paste and just dribbled, drooled, did something down on the corner. I really did like that. Lesson learned though, once you do this you have to stop because that paint does not dry very fast. Finally later in the evening I was able to work on the card fronts and add all the layers. I did freshen up the drools after I finished the card.
As you can see from the picture of the card, I added many layers of paper to the front along with sewing thread and a fabric bow.
