Happy Everything

Happy  Halloween.  Remember to not eat all the candy in one sitting.

I am playing along with the current challenge at The Paper Players.  Their current challenge is a Tic Tac Toe board.

I chose to do Circles, patterned paper and embossing.

I used patterned paper for my background and one of the circles.  The sentiment is heat embossed and the kraft cardstock on the leaf circle is dry embossed.   The leaf circle is a leftover ATC coin I made and I wanted to use it on a card.  This offered me the perfect opportunity.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.

I was going through paper to donate to a nonprofit group and the paper starting talking to me.  I had to make cards before the paper pad was donated.

Here are the cards from one pad.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies  -  they still make beautiful cards and will bring a smile to someone's face.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.

I recently participated in an ATC swap where the theme was fall or Halloween.  I really do not do much with Halloween but I love fall and I love to use leaves.

I took a playing card and covered it with a tannish tissue paper using matte medium.  I added some gold gesso (old supply) to add background color.  The leaf images are from fabric which has little squares in it.  I cut out the squares and adhered Wonder under to them and added them to some card stock.  I inked around the edges.  The blue is also fabric from the same fabric panel.  I prepared it in the same manner as the leaf prints.  I glued them to the base.  I glued a small piece of torn bag to the base and then added the brown checked fabric (old) and the green fabric with glue.  The bow is some old twine from my supplies.  ATC's are always fun to make.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies.  They still make beautiful pieces of art.

Clean and Simple Birthday Cards

I am continuing to work on my Birthday Project - birthday cards for a nursing home.

Today I am playing along with current challenge at The Paper Players.  The challenge is for a clean and simple birthday card.  I made two this morning.  I have a container of colored images waiting to be made into cards.  I was able to make both a female and masculine card for the challenge.

Here is my feminine card.

Here is my masculine card.

Gel Print Meets Birthday Card

The new challenge at Seize the Birthday is to use a stencil.  I went and looked through my background box and found a gel print where I had used a leafy branch stencil on.  It made a great mini slimline birthday card.

Here is a close up.  You can see all the different layers.  I outlined the leaves with two different shades of colored pencil to give them a little more definition.

I am working on my Birthday Project and wanted to make a masculine card and I believe this gel print worked great.

Birthday Butterfly

I have been working on my "birthday project" this last year.  I want to make birthday cards for all the residents at the nursing home where my Mom resided at the end of her life.  They took such good care of her and I want to do something special for the residents.  I need to call and find out approximately number of residents and approximate number of male and females.

For my card today I used the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

For my card I used a butterfly from a stamp set by My Favorite Things.  One day I just stamped the butterflies in many different color combinations so I can just grab one or two to use on a card.  I also went to my box of backgrounds and found this lovely pink background.  I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of the same background paper, and added a strip of black cardstock to the sentiment banner.  The small black and white circle was cut from My Favorite Things paper.  They have a black and white dot collection and also a black striped collection of paper.  I think they are must haves in your card making supplies.  The butterfly was added with foam to give it a little dimension.

Happy Birthday Sunflowers

October has many birthdays with my family and friends.  I was smart this time and made the same card twice to help myself out in creating.

I was gifted a lovely sunflower stamp by a friend.  The stamp is from Unity Stamps.  She knows I love to create with sunflowers.

I first added some light color to my background (watercolor paper) with some ink smooshing.  I then placed my stamp in my misty and started layering different colors to get the look I wanted. (I do wish I would have used brighter colors of inks rather than the oxide inks.  I added some gold splatter.

I decided to make the card into a flat shaker card.  I dug in my box of beads, sequins, etc looking for anything looking for golds, yellows, orange and browns.  I came up with a good assortment.  I like how festive it makes your card feel.  Luckily it is going in a package so I don't have to worry about the post office destroying it.

Here is the card laying flat so you can see the shaker bits scattered over the top of the card.

I am entering the card into the current challenge at The Sisters of Crafters where the current challenge is Happy Birthday.  I think I nailed the challenge.

Oldie Moldie Monday, A Challenge and Leftovers

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.  My old supply or supplies is the stamp from Fun Stampers Journey, the die for the sentiment, and my oxide inks.

The current challenge at the Monday Challenge Blog for Simon Says Stamp is a fall moodboard.

My card is strips left when I designed other fall cards this year.  I did not want to waste those beautiful strips of colorful leaves.  I laid strips of brown card stock in between the leaf strips.  It was then die cut, matted with gold, then a dark brown mat was added before adhering all the layers to a 5 x 7 kraft card base.  The sentiment was cut from the same gold card stock.

I really do need to finish the other cards.  They just need a sentiment.  They are mini slimline cards.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies.

Happy Little Stampers October Stencil Challenge

It is time to get out your stencils and play along with the October Challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  The challenge is always "anything goes".

I am working away on my Christmas cards so dug out a stencil I had to have several years ago and decided to use it.

The first layer of color added  through the stencil was watercolor.  After I had added it, I then took my water sprayer and sprayed the image.  This way the colors run and gives you a background for your stenciled image.  I came back in after it was dry and used my Inkintense pencils to add the detail of the bough and pine cone on top of the watercolor background.

The image is matted with gold on a kraft card base.  The sentiment was cut from gold and dark brown card stock and added to the front of the card.  The gold is slightly offset to allow the dark brown to show through also.  Gold splatters were added to finish off the card.

Happy Little Stamper's October Christmas Challenge

It is time for a new Christmas Challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  The challenge is always anything goes but there is an extra creative spark if you wish to use it.

This month the extra creative spark is Joy.  When I looked in my Christmas supplies, I was surprised at how many "joys" I had to choose from.

For my card this month, I am using the Joy die cuts from a card kit from My Favorite Things.  I do not know what year it is from but it sure is cute and very easy to use.

I first did a little ink smooshing to my background.  White backgrounds bother me so I always add a little color in some way and ink smooshing is one of my favorite ways to do it.  I die cut the word Joy from the ink smooshed background which I had die cut with a rectangle die.  I used a pretty plaid which had the same blue in it as my background and mat.  The letters and snowman are layered to give them a little height.  I believe there are three layers on each letter.

After I had completed the card I wanted to add some sparkle to it.  I splattered two different whites on the background.  The first splatters was Dina Wakely's Glossy spray acrylics and the second splatters were a silver from Tattered Angels.

I have two more cards on the design table but in different colors.
