Oldie Moldie Monday

Yes it is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.  I have been remiss this summer but have a major home improvement project going on - and it has zapped my creativity.  I am hoping it is returning as the project winds down.

Today I am sharing a Christmas card.  The wonderful Santa image has been floating around my craft area for years and I decided to use it and make some cards.  I really do like how they turned out.

Thanks for stopping by and remember to show some love for your old supplies.

July Stencil Challenge for Happy Little Stampers

It is July and it is time for a new stencil challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

Stencils are such an economical part of our card making tools.

I received this beautiful sunflower stencil for my birthday from a fellow cardmaker.  I also had friends move to Kansas and wanted to send them a new home card.

The sunflower is the state flower of Kansas and the bird on the card is the state bird.  Excuse me but I don't remember now what the bird was.  I stenciled the flower with different colors of oxide ink on paper where I had done ink smooshing with blue ink.

I fussy cut the bird from an old Golden book I had and adhered over the sunflowers.  The sentiment was stamped on a piece of kraft card stock and adhered over the sentiment I stamped on the front of the card and screwed up.  Thank goodness I was able to save the card.  I finished the card front with a brown mat and added it to a kraft card base.  Gold splatters completed the card.

Dig out your stencils and join us for the July challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

Thanks for stopping by.

July Christmas Challenge for Happy Little Stampers

It is July and it is time for you to work on your Christmas cards for this upcoming holiday season.  Please join us at the Happy Little Stamper's July Christmas Challenge.

The Christmas Challenge is always anything goes but there is an optional twist if you wish to do that.

I chose to not use the option.  I was rummaging through my Christmas supplies and found this stamp set from Tim Holtz "Scribbly Trees".  You know when it came out a couple years ago I had to have it but it has not been used so today was the day one of the twelve trees got inked up.  I should make myself use every tree stamp in the set.

I first took a piece of Desert Storm cardstock and inked around the outside edges with blue inks.  I tried to have the upper left corner be a little brighter and darker than the rest of the ink blending.  I stamped the tree and base with Distress Oxide inks and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I really like how it turned out.  I stamped the sentiment in the same brown oxide ink and heat embossed it also.  I added a narrow dark brown mat, a gold mat and then a wider dark brown mat before adhering it to a kraft card base.  Gold splatter completed the card.

I even finished the inside of the card.

Thanks for stopping by.

July Birthday Challenge for Happy Little Stampers

It is July and it is time for a new birthday challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

The birthday challenge at Happy Little Stampers is always anything goes.  Please join us because you know you have birthdays coming up and you need a card - why not have it done before then so you can relax.

This card is for a special young woman who loves unicorns and rainbows so I was lucky enough to have this beautiful sticker in my collection that I could use on her card.

I first took heavy vellum, scored it in half and then die cut it with a scalloped die cut so the outside is a folded layer of vellum.  To achieve this you put the left edge of your die off the edge of your fold so it cannot cut the fold.  The next layer is a regular card base made out of card stock.  It is cut just so it falls inside the scalloped edge of the vellum.  The sticker was adhered to the vellum and the sentiment was heat embossed.

The two cards were attached together with bakers twine using a pamphlet stitch.

She has already received the card and loved it.
