Oldie Moldie Monday Meets Masculine Card Challenge

It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.  The design elements for this card were laying on the design table from a card I made in the last couple weeks.  I loved the color combinations so came up with a design to use the leftover elements.

The current challenge at The Male Room Challenge is Dry Embossing.  Like many people, I have many embossing folders that I do not use often enough (I did think I had a gear embossing folder for this card - but alas I did not).

The striped paper is Basic Grey and the sentiment stamp is from My Favorite Things.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies.

Merry Christmas in April

I am working on some cards for a challenge in a private Facebook group I am in.  Each month we have a theme to inspire us to make Christmas cards.  One of our upcoming themes is "house".  I had found this sweet image in my supplies.  It is an image from Penny Black.  The images come in sets of four and help you make some wonderful Christmas cards without too much work.

I am using the current sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.  I thought the sketch worked well with my image.

My image did use up more of the card front than the sketch but it is still a rectangle.  I put my sentiment on the left side because I did not want to cover my image.  It also gave the design a little more balance.

Spring Birthday Card

I guess I should make spring birthday cards since I don't think Spring is ever going to come to Wisconsin although the weather does say 60 today.  I guess I should get outside sometime and clear off the flower beds.  But in the mean time I will make cards with flowers on them.

The current challenge at Seize the Birthday is Signs of Spring.  I am still working on my birthday project so I can add it to the box.

Here is the card I am sharing for the challenge.  I was going through my patterned paper and found this pretty floral with yellows, pink, red and bright greens and it spoke spring to me.  (I do hope I have tulips coming up that have these same colors soon.)  I used a scalloped die to cut the floral panel and several layers of heavy cardstock to add some dimension.  I also cut the sentiment strip with the same die.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day and I hope there is some sunshine in your day.

Gearing Up For Another Birthday

How about Oldie Moldie Monday on Tuesday?  Monday got away from me so going to share my card today.  The card is for the current challenge at Seize the Birthday where the challenge is stripes.

I am still working on my Birthday Project and need to make more masculine cards.  The stripe is a Basic Gray paper.  the teal and rust colored are more well aged paper from my supplies.  The birthday sentiment is from My Favorite Things.  After I had created the card, it needed something extra so I went into my embellishment box to look for something.  Laying next to the box was a bag of wodden gears and I thought - wow - what a great embellishment for a masculine card.  Since these cards will not be mailed, I did not have to worry about bulk.

Thanks for stopping by and remember to use your well aged supplies - they still make wonderful cards.

Merry Christmas/Season's Greetings

I have been diligently working on Christmas cards this year so I am ready when it comes to address the cards and put them in the mail in December.  By doing challenge blogs, I am motivated to create something.

I am playing along with the current challenge at Peace on Earth Christmas Challenge.  Here is the inspiration post for this challenge.

I decided to share this tree card for the challenge.

I first took some patterned paper with Christmas words on it and added a layer of gesso.  After the gesso was dry I added a brown oxide ink and achieved the cool background (well I think it is cool).  The tree is a large gift tag I had in my supplies.  I added some layers of cardstock behind it so that it pops off the background.  A die cut star covers the hole for the tag and finishes the top of the tree.  I matted two Tim Holtz sentiment strips and placed over the top of the tree.  A few black splatters were added to finish the card.

Thanks for the challenge and I have another card to send in December.

Happy Little Stamper's April Stencil Challenge

It is time for a new stencil challenge at Happy Little Stamper's.  The stencil challenge is always "anything goes".

Stencils are such an affordable addition to our card making supplies and there are so many different creative things you can do with a stencil.

This month I chose to use a stencil from Gina K Designs.  I used ink to do the initial color for the floral design.  To add depth to the design, I brought in my colored pencils to add shading to the inked design.  I die cut the floral design with a rectangle die cut and matted it with black.  The hello and how r u sentiments are from Altenew.  I do not know who makes the friend die cut.  After the sentiment were adhered to the card front, a fine black splatter and bright pink splatter were added to bring the card front together.

Happy Little Stamper's April Christmas Challenge

It is time for a new Christmas challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  Playing along helps you build a supply when December comes around.

The challenge is always anything goes - but there is an optional choice and this month it is Glitter.  Everyone loves a little glitter on their holiday cards, especially if it has snow on it.

The background for this stamp is done with Tattered Angels sprays.  There is a shine to the background which is a combination of blues and teal.

The die is from Dare 2B Artzy.  It is a die for a slim line card.  My card is a mini slim line card. The die was cut from a silver glitter card stock.  The sentiment was heat embossed in silver.  Clear gems were added to the center of the snowflakes.  If you look closely, you can see that the gems picked up the background color.  It is a very pretty sparkly card.

Christmas Card Challenge and Oldie Moldie Monday

Once again I have been able to combine a sketch challenge from a Christmas Card Blog - 52 Christmas Card Throwdown and my attempt to post a new card using my old supplies every Monday.

Here is the sketch challenge for this week.

Honest - it is horrible photography - the sentiment is straight on the card.  This is very old paper from Cosmo Cricket - a paper company which I do not believe is in business anymore.  I love the fun retro
Santas.  I need to find more ways to use them.  (stay tuned there are cute snowmen also).

Here is another card using the same paper.

Thanks for stopping by and remember to show some love for your old supplies.

Hugs

I wanted to send a bright cheerful card to a friend who finishes her radiation treatment this week for breast cancer.  I have this lovely 6 x 6 pad of paper from Authentique and thought the papers would work well in the current sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

Honest the embellishments are red and match perfectly to the red in the paper.
I did add an extra strip to define the right edge of the focal point.

Sweet Season's Greetings and A New Challenge Blog

Recently on a post for a different card, one of the people leaving a comment told me about a new challenge blog - Can You Handle the Pressure - where you must use an embossing folder.  They do have an optional choice also but you are not required to use it.

I have been working on Christmas cards with animals on it so when I came across this sweet bear in my supplies I thought he would make a cute card with an embossed background.  I added a few of the snowflakes from the same die sheet.  Who says Orange can not be used on a Christmas card.
