Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.

This week we are doing Christmas cards.

The focal image is a Tim Holtz ephemera piece from one of the many packages I have in my collection.  I believe the paper might be from one of his collection.  I don't remember for sure.  I added distressing to the edges of the paper to go with the look of the vintage image.

Remember to show some love to your old supplies.  They still make great cards.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.

This week we are doing birthday cards.

I actually found the image in my supplies already colored so I just needed to find some patterned paper to work with the image.  The plaid makes a wonderful masculine birthday card.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Oldie Moldie Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.

This week we will look at some Christmas cards using well aged patterned paper.

The focal points on both cards were cut aparts from a Christmas paper pad.  I just found paper that worked well with the black focal points.

Happy Little Stamper's September Stencil Challenge

It is September, time for a new stencil challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  Stencils are such an economical crafting tool for a card maker.  The challenge is always anything goes.

I needed to make a baby girl card and we have a new baby in the neighborhood and Daddy wanted dinosaurs for his daughter.  The stencil I chose to use is from Pretty Pink Posh.

It is a layered stencil.  I chose to use distress oxides for my medium.  I really wanted to stamp little flowers or hearts on the front when the stenciling was done but I was not going to chance ruining the front.

The Hooray is a die and I generated the sentiment on my computer.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Oldie Moldie returns.  I was a very lazy blogger for part of this year and I hope to get back into the groove.  It doesn't mean I wasn't creating - it just means I never blogged my creations.

Many of my creations will be Christmas or Birthday related.  I have so much paper I need to use up.

We will do birthday cards this week.

I have this pack of patterned paper and I have had it many years.  It has these beautiful floral images on part of the paper and the back of the paper is the pink used for the mat base.  I made many birthday and thank you cards with this paper and I still have paper left.  I think it is laughing at me because I can't use it up.  Unfortunately I get bored with doing repetitive work or using the same paper.

Remember to show some love for your old paper.

Happy Little Stamper's September Christmas Challenge

It is time for a new Christmas Challenge at Happy Little Stamper's.  The challenge is always Anything Goes but we do have an optional design element of Metallic.

I recently purchased some new crafty goodness from Penny Black's new release.  The cardinal image is one of their new preprinted masterpieces.  This image came from the set Reflections.  The images make card making so easy.  I also used the new Immense Joy die.

The background is kraft card stock run through a wood grain embossing folder.  I brushed white gesso on the ridges of the wood grain.  This was mounted on a red card stock and placed on a kraft card base.

I die cut the JOY out of gold card stock and also two layers of kraft card stock.  I placed the die over the image so that I had the cardinal placed exactly where I wanted it in the O.  I finished the card with white and gold splatters.

Here is a close up of the image.

Happy Little Stamper's September Birthday Challenge

It is September and it is time for a new Birthday Challenge at Happy Little Stamper's.  We all need Birthday Cards so why not join us for a fun challenge - the theme is always "anything goes" so it is easy to do.

Recently I was out of town for several weeks and needed something to keep my hands and mind busy so I decided to try stitching on paper.  Spellbinders makes it so easy with their dies for stitching.  This die is called Stitched Petal Frame.  Jennifer McGuire has several videos on YouTube demonstrating how to use the stitched dies.  She shares lots of information.

You use extra heavy cardstock to die cut the design.  I used two strands of DMC embroidery floss for my stitching.  I have bought some metallic thread to try on black cardstock.  Stay tuned.  Of course, this card is one you only give to people who will not toss it into the waste basket.

After I completed the stitching, I found a soft green cardstock to put behind the die.  I did not want the color to fight with the beautiful stitching.  I die cut the sentiment from the back side of the green cardstock.  After I adhered the stitched design to a white card base. I glued pearls to certain points in the design.  You need lots of pearls.  I just restocked my pearl supply since I have more fronts being stitched.

Here is a close up of the sentiment and the pearls.  You can also see how easy it is to stitch.
