CAS Watercolor Card

I love to play with my watercolors.  I keep hoping I will get better using them.  Somedays I like my results - other days - keep working at it.

I like to do the monthly challenge at CAS Watercolor Challenge because the CAS is always a challenge for me.

The challenge this month is to use the color wheel and use complementary colors.   I decided to go with the blue - orange colors.  I honestly don't think there is a flower these colors in nature but I do like how it turned out.

This is a stamp set from Stampendous that Michaels carries.  I had looked at it for quite awhile but never purchased it and then I visited my friend Annie and she got it out and I used it.  I had to have it.  I also had received a couple card made with this stamp so the desire was already sitting in my head and Annie pushed it into the shopping card.

I used an inexpensive set of watercolors I bought at Joann's to color the floral image.  I used several shades of orange for the petals and several shades of blue for the center part of the flower.  I added gold onto the center of the flower and in the petals for another depth of color.  I loved the addition of the gold.

I had to also do an envelope to match.  I hope it makes the mail people happy as it goes on its merry way through the system and hopefully the recipient loves the hint of what is inside.  To color the flowers on the envelope, I just put the orange color of a piece of acetate and added some extra water and pressed it over the floral image.  I did color the center and added a little of the gold.

I am also adding it to the challenge at Addicted to Stamps where the challenge this week is Make Your Mark.  I colored with my watercolors.

I am also adding it to the monthly challenge at The Flower Challenge where the challenge is Anything Goes.

Thanks for stopping by.

Maybe they’re not flowers you’d see in real life, but they sure are lovely. Great use of complementary colours. Thanks so much for joining us at CAS Christmas.
