Freshly Made Sketch and Play Date Cafe Unite

Feels good to make a card.  Work - this last month - has sucked the creativity out of my soul - hopefully another week it will be better.  This card actually is for two different challenges.

It is based on the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

It is also based on the color challenge at the Play Date Cafe - I think this is the first time I have ever played along.  I have a hard time with color challenges - I never know where the paper is in that color.  I must confess I went and bought the paper today for this card because I knew I wanted to use some of my favorite pattern paper - black and white houndstooth.

The sentiment is from Hero Arts and the butterfly stamp and punch are old - they are from - Paper Shapers and Purple Daisy Designs.

Everyone enjoy your evening - maybe I will use this color combo to make a few cards for my next Operation Write Home Box.

Stampendous and Play Date Cafe - Summer Fun

Good morning - a quick share on this beautiful Saturday morning.  The weather is gorgeous - doors open, fresh air - so wonderful after a week of being stuck in the office.  I have a card I played with last night.  It satisfies two challenges.

Stampendous - for the month of June - is to make summer cards.  My other cards were very whimsical - today we are more elegant.  What is more summer than an beautiful blue sky and beautiful flowers.

The blue, black and white color combination is the challenge from Play Date Cafe.  The inspiration photo is this beautiful photo.

The blue background is Twinkling H2O's on watercolor paper.  My friend Ivanka had hers out and played with them with some beautiful results - so she inspired me to use mine.  Thank you.  Luckily they do not dry up or go bad.  The blue has a beautiful sheen to it.  The stamp is an old one from Stampendous white embossed.  I found some black and white houndstooth ribbon so dug out my houndstooth embossing folder to add a little texture to the card.  A SRM Sticker finishes off the card with a little touch of bling.

Everyone enjoy your Saturday.  I need to make a 40'th birthday card yet today.  We will see - hopefully I get it done before the party.

Good afternoon from a snowy day in Wisconsin. I think we need a bright cheerful card for today.

The Play Date Cafe posted this picture as their color inspiration. Luckily I had some paper laying right here on the floor that would work for the challenge.

My assistant's birthday is Monday and I always give her an assortment of cards for her present. This is one of the cards I made her. The inside is finished so she can just write a personal note to whoever she sends the card too.

Well I am off to create cards - I need to make four more before Monday - plus a birthday card. Enjoy your day.

Sunday, January 30, 2011

Good Sunday afternoon - where does time fly - it seems I have not been too productive in the card making department lately. I was gone Saturday and came home early Sunday - so was a little tired - hard to be overly creative when you are tired. Do you have that kind of problem? I need to get some cards made. I need to make more cards for Operation Write Home - want to get a box sent in the next couple weeks - I have lots of spring cards in there - some are for Easter but some could be used for Mother's Day.

Today's card is based on the challenge at The Play Date Cafe - it is a color splash challenge - sometimes I have a hard time doing those challenges - but this one was pretty easy - it was one color - lilac - with a neutral color. I wanted to make my boss a good luck card - she is interviewing for a new job this week. The lilac paper is recycled - it is from a beautiful envelope folder - letter size - so I have enough to do a couple projects with. The flower is made from recycled tissue paper - I cut the paper with spellbinders and then hold them together with a brad and just wrinkle up each layer to give the flower dimension. I used the Stampin Up die cut and embossed it with a cuddlebug folder. I also die cut a flourish from a Sizzix die cut. Add a SRM sticker and you have a very simple but hopefully elegant card.

Thanks for stopping by to visit.
