 It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.

I am continuing to share some cards I made for a Christmas monthly challenge where the theme was House.

I found this house die cut in my supplies and added some simple red paper, a sentiment and dry embossing.

Such an easy card to make.

Vintage Christmas

 What should you do on the hot days of summer - you should make Christmas cards and think cooler temsp.

The current challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown is Vintage.  I had my Tim Holtz Christmas stuff out and made this card.

I love the vintage feel of this card.  This is not hard to achieve when you use your Tim Holtz supplies.  I have another one on the design table.  Hot again today so maybe I should think cool Christmas thoughts.

Oldie Moldie Monday

 It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.  

This week I am sharing some Christmas cards I made - the theme for the challenge was house.  

If you look through your patterned paper, it is amazing how many papers have houses on them.

Oldie Moldie Monday

 It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.  

I was donating some 6 x 6 pads to a local school teacher and had to use a few sheets of paper from a couple pads before they left the house.

I had recently seen this quilt block die I had and since I wanted to make some cards for my sister who is a quilter, I knew the paper and die would make great cards.

The great thing when you used these dies and four different papers, you end up with four cards.  I did use a new sentiment stamp set.

I love how they turned out.  I have two more sets cut out to piece together and I also found another die so I will be making more quilt cards.

Can You Handle The Pressure Guest Designer

 I am the guest designer for Can You Handle the Pressure for their current challenge with an optional twist of Bird.  

Remember you must use an embossing folder on your challenge entry.  

Here is the prize for this challenge.

I decided to go along with the optional twist of bird.  My bird images are Tim Holtz tissue paper.  I adhered the tissue paper to a piece of card stock with gel medium and also brushed a layer of the gel medium across the top of the tissue paper.  I used Vintage Photo ink to add some coloring to the edges of the image and blended it inward.  I then matted the image with dark brown paper.  When it was adhered to the card front, I added several layers of card stock behind it to add a little dimension to the design.

The greenish background is bristol smooth card stock which I first did some ink smooshing on with oxide inks.  I then ran it through my embossing folder.  I used more ink and water and let the embossed edges grab more of the color and make some great color variation in the background.  I matted the background with the same dark brown card stock.  I decided I wanted to bring a little of the dark green color into the card and found some matching card stock and dry embossed it.  I did it so there is a continuous flow in the embossed design.

The sentiment was stamped on a piece of green patterned paper. and matted with the dark brown card stock also.

Happy Little Stampers June Stencil Challenge.

It is time for the new stencil challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  The challenge is always "anything goes".

Stencils are such a cost efficient product to use in our card making.  Stencils have come a long way in their design.  There are still single layer stencils but there are the layered stencils which just steps up your creativity.

It is the time of the year when we need to make graduation cards.  I have two young men in my neighborhood graduating from high school.  They are brothers so the cards had to be different.

I chose to use this layered stencil from Taylored Expressions for the focal point on my card.  I stenciled the sentiment on with oxide inks.  I cut the panel with a stitched die and then dry embossed with an embossing folder from Darice.  I cut the hat with my Silhouette.  The sentiment is from a Tim Holtz collection.  

How easy would it be to crank out many cards using this sentiment.  This sentiment could work for any occasion, not just graduation.

Here is the second card I made.  I used my Silhouette to make the hat/year cut out.  I layered two of them together to give it some depth.  I added it to a dry embossed background using the same embossing folder as the first card.  A simple sentiment completed the card.  Did you guess that the school colors are red and black?

Oldie Moldie Monday Meets Sketch Challenge

 It is Oldie Moldie Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.  

I had this paper grouping on the design table because I was making some quilt design cards and the leftover strips fit the card sketch at Freshly Made Sketches perfectly.

I first cut a rectangle out of the same paper I used for my card base.  I added the strips to the card front and then ran the rectangle through an embossing folder.  I adhered it to the card base.  The sentiment was stamped on another sheet of paper from the 6 x 6 pad and die cut out.  It was matted with black.  I added a double layer of paper behind the circle to add a little depth to the card.  The sentiment is an old Penny Black.

I still had more strips left from the pad so I added them to a rectangle on a diagonal and dry embossed the panel.  I used another sentiment from the same Penny Black sentiment set.

Happy Beer Day

 What a delightful surprise it was to see the current challenge at The Paper Players - food or beverages and I had just completed a card that worked.

I first started by doing ink smooshing to make a colored background for my delightful beer mug to sit upon.  The beer mug is a new die from My Favorite Things.  I colored the beer and mug with distress oxide inks.  I love the color I achieved for my beer.  I used some Ranger Liquid Pearls on the froth to add texture.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things also.  I placed the beer mug sitting on the sentiment to anchor it.  

It feels good to have a birthday card done ahead of time.  Now I just need to make sure the safe place I put it in - I know about.  Does anyone else put things in a safe place and then can't find them?

Happy Little Stampers June Christmas Challenge

 It is June - time for a new Christmas Challenge at Happy Little Stampers and an opportunity for you to get a jump start on your Christmas cards for this year.  

The Christmas Challenge is always "Anything Goes" but we do give you an optional twist to play with.  This month the twist is Snow globe.

I found in my supplies these cute gift tags which were a snow globe shape and I decided to use them for my cards.  I am into using my supplies and I have so much Christmas related craft supplies.  Gift tags are a great easy option for a focal point for your cards.

I found some plaid paper in my supplies that had the same colors as my snow globe tag.  I dry embossed white card stock and added it to the front of the plaid panel.  I cut a piece of aqua patterned paper, white glitter paper and red patterned paper which had the scallop design on it.  I layered these together and added the gift tag on top.  I did place a glitter snowflake die cut behind the snow globe.  I did add foam tape behind the gift tag.  It was nice that this gift tag came with the sentiment on it.

I made another card using the same papers.  This is a take off on the April Sheetload of Cards design.  It actually is a mini slim line card.  I like to make the mini slim line cards - something different to do.
