Crate Paper and SRM Stickers Unite

The last Christmas card for the week - all paper stuff is being put away so we can eat dinner on those crafting tables.  So needless to say I am working away at cleaning - YUCK.

I participated in a cookie exchange tomorrow - I have two containers full - they make a great breakfast - I really need to put those cookies in the freezer - although that has never stopped me before from eating them - that is what microwaves are made for.

My card today is for my friend Mary - who started me down this road in cardmaking.  The image is a digi from I Brake for Digis but she is no longer offering digis - you may wish to check and see if she has the snowman in rubber.  He is such a happy little snowman.  I used papers from Crate Paper.  I added a SRM Sticker and May Art Ribbon to finish off the card.

No more cards until after Christmas - maybe I will post a recipe or two.

Just Chikin In

Just chiken in with all of you to share a card I made using a Rooster image from I Brake for Digis. Isn't that a great rooster. I tried to color the rooster so it looked like an exotic chicken - did I achieve that.

I was trying to be PUNY also. Kinda makes you groan doesn't it. But hopefully it brings a smile to the recipient.

Mother's Day - Thinking of You

Good evening. I hope your day was a good one. I don't know how we got to Wednesday night already. But that is OK, because only 2 more days fo work.

Tonight I am sharing a card I made for my Mom for Mother's Day. She loves her flowers and pink is her favorite color. The beautiful floral ribbon is from the extensive garden collection at I Brake For Digis. I colored the image with my Copics and added some glitter with a pen to the ribbon and flowers. With the addition of a sticker and some great bling brads - the card is done. Hard to believe Mother's Day is just a little over a week away. Easter fell so late in April - you just turn around and it is Mother's Day.

Freddie the Frog

Good evening - cold, wet and miserable in Wisconsin. Just stay inside and make some cards or do dishes - I am doing dishes in between computer time. Dishes need a good soak sometimes.

My card tonight is for a special person. I thought Freddie the Frog would bring a smile to his face. Freddie is part of the digital images from I Brake for Digis. There is a large collection of Freddie digital images on the site - Freddie with a walker (what a great image for a monumental birthday), happy hour Freddie, Freddie on a motorcycle, you get my picture - lots of great Freddie images. Hello Sunshine

Well it is amazing what a new modem does for your computer. I thought I needed to buy a new computer luckily it was just the modem and I am so proud of myself I was able to hook it up myself. It is so fast - I think I am in heaven.

The sun image is a digi image from I Brake for Digis. I colored it with my Copics and then highlighted everything with a Gelly Roll Stardust pen. Just adds a bit of sparkle. Both the sun and the face were popdotted to add dimension to the card. Isn't that background paper perfect - clouds with a few sun peeking through.

We have actually had some great sunshine here but now we are back to cold and blustery. YUCK.

How About Something Different

Good evening - I decided I wanted to do something different with my digi image from I Brake for Digis - I needed to replace my pumpkin bar recipe - you could hardly read the recipe card anymore with all the stains on it - I really do like how the 6 x 6 recipe turned out.

Pop over to I Brake for Digis - and see all the designs available - and look at them in a different way - how could I use this - on something other than a card.

PUMPKIN BARS

2 C. Flour 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
2 tsp. baking powder 2 C. sugar
1 tsp. soda 1 C. salad oil
¼ tsp. salt 4 eggs
2 tsp. cinnamon 1 c. nuts (opt.)
16 oz. can pumpkin

Mix from pumpkin to flour and add nuts.
Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees in a
12 x 15 x 1 jelly roll pan.

Frosting:

3 ounce pkg. cream cheese
¼ cup margarine or butter
1 tsp vanilla
About 2 c. powdered sugar
1 tsp milk

Beat and frost bars when cool.

Yes it is Monday - back to work day of the week - YUCK - but I did accomplish lots today so that is good. You always pay for taking days off.

Today is the day you are suppose to dig into your supplies and show some love for some old paper. I knew I wanted to use up these scraps of Basic Grey. I had used some of it a couple weeks ago on a card with a cupcake also and liked the combination I wanted to try and use up all the scraps left. I had plans for three cards but a detour happened and I only got two made. I needed to make some quick Mother's Day cards for Operation Write Home.

Once again I am showing the versatility of a digi stamp. This cupcake digi stamp is from I Brake For Digis - she has many cupcake styles to choose from. I have the plain vanilla one. One card the cupcake image is larger and more of a focal point on the card - this was a very simple card to make because I used a dry embossed base and then added my image and a strip of paper and ribbon and a sentiment. On the other card I lined five cupcakes (small cupcakes - bite size) in a row. The third card had nine bitesize cupcakes in three rows of three.

I am enjoying the versatility of the digi stamps - I could not have done that many different types of cards with one regular stamp of a cupcake. All the cupcakes would be the same size.

Dancing With the Stars is on tonight - so I must get ready to watch that. I have also been making some handmade flowers - having fun with acrylic paint. Enjoy your evening.

Good Wednesday morning. Today I am going to share with you two cards I made using the same digital image. One of the great advantages to using digi images is being able to make them any size. Both of my cards use the same image but they are so different. The image is from I Brake For Digis.

On the first card I used a small version of the butterfly and just stacked them three in a row. They were colored with Copic markers that perfectly matched the patterned paper (that was a happy accident that it matched so well.) I pop dotted the sentiment. This was a card I made over the week end for the virtual cardmaking party on Operation Write Home’s facebook page.

The second card is very dimensional. I used the same image but larger. I first printed it on paper, colored it and cut the image out with a spellbinder. I then colored two more images which I cut out. I bent the two cut out butterflies in the center so they had some dimension and layered them on top of each other on the card – I did post a close up of the butterfly. I really did not have a spot for the sentiment so added it on top slightly hanging over the top edge. I sent this to one of my daughters with her favorite Easter candy. Hopefully she enjoys both. The card is even a little “green” – the ribbon was recycled off of something I received – a plant or gift – I don’t remember – but it was so pretty I could not throw away and there was lots of it – just had to work around the wrinkles in the ribbon.

A Quick post tonight - my computer is so slow - I am in wait mode every time I attempt to do something. After top equipment at work - it is hard to work with slow than slow.

My card tonight uses a digital design from I Brake For Digis - a great masculine image - of course - what color is that tractor besides really an ugly color - all the tractors in my life were John Deere Green but did not think I could carry that off. So somehow I came up with this ugly color - looks like it is rather rusty.

I had this one piece of paper which was double sided - the green numbers and dots - and then I bought some of a new Basic Grey collection - and it matched perfectly. I think I came up with a nice masculine card.

Good Friday evening - yeah we made it to the week end - or should we say whew!!! A busy week and next week is even busier. I think I may have to take a couple days off during spring break.

I am sharing a card I made for the Paper Crafts sketch call - alas - it was not picked up - but I now have my birthday card made for Ben - hopefully it is not too kiddish for him. Have to think about that.

I used my favorite digi fish from I Brake For Digis. This fish is the cutest. I printed the fish on patterned paper and cut them out. I then inked them to add a little depth to each fish. The sentiment was computer generated. Doesn't this patterned zig zag paper make you think of waves.

Bunny Hop March 5, 2011

Good morning and welcome to my stop on the bunny hop. If you came from Kimme at InStyle Stamps you are in the correct spot. Are you overwhelmed with great ideas already – I hope you have a notebook and pen handy so you can make notes of ideas – purchases you want to make – etc.

Just a couple reminders of upcoming deadline before we get down to the fun.
March 18 is the deadline for Easter.
March 31 is the deadline for Mother’s Day.

Today I am sharing two cards. I have started using digital stamps and I have found them to be so versatile because you can adjust the size of your image. If you have old eyes like me – make them bigger so they are easier for you to color.




My bunny came from I Brake For Digis. I wanted to show the versatility of the image you download. On the yellow card I printed the bunny on the white cardstock and also on the patterned paper. I cut the image out of the patterned paper and adhered it to the top of the printed bunny. It actually has a little depth to it when it is layered on top of the printed image. I could have done a better job of cutting my bunny – note to self – print two on your patterned paper. I chalked the white paper so it wasn’t so white – although the picture makes it look white – it is actually creamy in real life. I used my nestabilities to cut the oval and its frame. My corner rounder is one of my favorite tools so used it on the corners of the card. Add some patterned papers, a little twine, a button and a sticker sentiment and you have a card I love.



My second card shows what you can do by making the image smaller. I decided on the size I wanted and then copied it and pasted it two more times – there is that rule in design about odd numbers. I colored each bunny a different pastel to coordinate with the paper. I have had this patterned paper laying around for years but it made this card so sweet. Doilies are the current rage so I had to add one of those to my card. Some more twine and a sticker – and you have the sweetest little card – I think I am keeping this one – I need a baby card.

Good evening - one more day until the week end - a big blog hop on Opeartion Write Home this week end - over 100 participants - please stop by and visit on Saturday.

Today's card was a birthday card for one of my student's. I think you can guess that her favorite color is purple. I was planning to do paper piecing on the cupcake but I couldn't find any papers I liked to do it with so I used my Copics once I had settled on the papers I wanted to use. I dug out some scraps of Basic Grey and paired them with a patterned paper from Papertrey Ink and some yellow cardstock. Add a sentiment sticker and a bow.

The image is a digi from I Brake For Digis. I enjoy the versatility of digis in that I can adjust the size I want on a card. There are all different styles of cupcakes on the site to choose from. Who doesn't love a cupcake. I wish I had one to eat right now.

A very early Friday morning greeting. This has been one of those weeks that has gone fast but seems to have dragged - as you can see from my lack of posts - a week where there was no creativity. The week end is coming so I hope to spend some time creating - it is suppose to snow - one never knows how much. I am going to get my groceries today and then I can hibernate all week end.

My card today is my 2nd Christmas card of the year. I really like the colors and how it turned out. I used a digi stamp from I Brake For Digis and printed it on three different pattern papers. Using my trusty scissors I cut out the tree and car. I did add some color to the car with my Copics (tires and fender) - I also chalked it with blue - to make the blue on the car a little brighter. I cut out the tree and also added brown chalk to the tree to give it a little more depth. I probably should have added some snow to the branches.

Moxie Fab World is having a paper piecing challenge on their blog in celebration of their special issue Stamp It Techniques. I love the flexibility of using digi stamps for paper piecing - you can make the images a little larger so it is easier to cut and piece.

Well I suppose I need to go and get ready to go to work. I think I can make it to the week end.

Good evening - I have a fun card to share with you tonight. It will go to a special person who is fighting a tough battle right now. I think it will make hime smile.

The image is from I Brake For Digis - they have an entire group of digital images of Freddie - do you want a frog riding a motorcycle - they have one. I liked this one and last night - I had an inspiration - with that tongue sticking out - let's put some medicine on his mouth - so I went and got a low dosage aspirin and glue dotted to the tongue. EEK - inside it will say something about take your medicine.

I think it will bring a smile to the recipient's face - hopefully the aspirin stays on the card.

Good evening - brrrrr - cold in Wisconsin - but they say the week end will be nice - we will be in the 30's - down right balmy. Going out to dinner tonight so that will be fun.

I am sharing a card I made with a digi from I Brake For Digis it is called I Will be Home For Christmas and it is only $1. What a wonderful value. I am going to use it to make cards for Operation Write Home - you know all our service personnel serving overseas will be home in their hearts. Very easy to color. I have 5 more cards prepped and I am sure I will be making more.

The midweek throwdown at Operation Write Home Stars and Stamps is Barnyard - well you can't get more barnyard than a black and white cow. I am partial to black and white cows - I was a farm girl and that was the color of our cows.

Good Tuesday afternoon - I am being a slackard today - I decided to take a day of vacation from work and not fight the winter storm - one more day tomorrow and I know tomorrow will be much worse - a blizzard is heading our way. I took a nap already today and that felt so good. Hopefully tonight I can stay up past 8 p.m. and get back on a normal sleeping pattern.

I wanted to make a bright, happy card today. I had colored this digi image "Daisy With Bea" from I Brake for Digis so I needed to find some fun paper to make a card with. This grouping from My Mind's Eye has such pretty colors in it. No yellow but a beautiful orange, blue and pink. I was able to pick up on the yellow with my accent pieces and placed my thank you sticker on a punched flower that I added color with Copics and then inked the edges to bring some orange onto the punched flower. I pop dotted the image and sentiment to balance the depth of the bow and big brad.

The design of the card is based on the sketch from Unscripted Sketches - a very fun sketch - lots of layers - and I am all about the layers.

Good Monday evening - oh did you hear - the Packers are going to the Super Bowl. Yippee - Wisconsin is very happy.

Today is Monday - time to use up some of your old unloved supplies. I dug into this paper - I love pink and black together so wanted to use this particular grouping of papers and when I do the weekly sketch at Stars and Stamps (Operation Write Home's card blog) - I like to make a feminine and masculine card using the sketch. I hope you enjoy my take on the the sketch.

I wanted to use this digi image from I Brake For Digis. Just looking at it - it makes you want to SMILE - and so therefore - I thought it would make great cards for Operation Write Home.

Good Wednesday evening - brrrrr - I found some time to create earlier in the week - last night - I laid down on the couch and watched TV through my eyelids - it was a great show.

This card is my first valentine card for the season for family - I already made 50 some valentine cards for Operation Write Home - now I need to make some valentines for family and friends. This card will be for my Mom - I started drinking coffee with my Mom when my father died so she would have someone to drink coffee with - lots of sugar and milk back then - but I am still a coffee drinker and so does my Mom but now she drinks decaf. Pink is her favorite color. The design is based on the sketch at Our Creative Corner.

The image for the card is from I Brake for Digis. It is called Heart Mug. I wanted to use this large sentiment sticker from SRM - I think it is the perfect touch to finish my card.

Good Thursday evening - sorry did not get this card posted last night - I fell asleep very early. I am looking forward to my 3 day week end - I can do some napping - and maybe lots of paper therapy - snow and cold in Wisconsin this week end. I have a friend leaving for Florida - do you think they would notice me sitting in the back seat when they left town.

This is a birthday card for my brother - he is turning the big 50. I used the same papers and image from my Tuesday night post. It is the same digital image - but I could determine the size fish I wanted for each card - that is the value in a digi image - you can do so many things with it - you could even flip your fish so you had two facing each other sharing a loving glance. The image is from I Brake For Digis.

Good Tuesday evening - on the news tonight they said that Florida was the only state without snow - even Hawaii had snow in some mountains. It snowed lightly all last night and today - so the sidewalks and driveway need to be cleared - I did clear the sidewalks when I got home and now I am watching UW Madison basketball game - go Badgers. After the game I will head outdoors and finish up my driveway. The joy of living in a snow state.

The card I am sharing tonight is for my son in law Chris - he has a long battle with cancer before him so I wanted to add a smile to his day. Chris likes to fish and he has a wonderful sense of humor so I know he will appreciate the little pun also. The fish is a digi from I Brake for Digis - I just printed it on my base paper - I just lined three of them up and then I printed them on a contrast color and cut them out. I really like the way it turned out. I added some Stickles to the bubbles. I based the card design on the weekly sketch from The Sweet Stop.
