Christmas is coming up very fast so here is a great opportunity to make a Christmas card for the Happy Little Stampers September Christmas Challenge.
The challenge is always Anything Goes (the best kind of challenge) but you do have the optional twist of an elf.
I went through my Christmas stuff and I found no elf. (of course, after my card was finished I found an elf stamp in a box of supplies I had taken to my daughter's in June while dog sitting.) My card has a snowman on it. You can pretend it is a cold elf with a round figure.
I stamped the snowman and water colored him or her. I added a light blue wash to the background of the snow person image. I found a suitable sentiment which was stamped on a die cut circle which has the same light blue wash on it. Both the sentiment and image were matted with the same purple I matted the plaid paper with. I do love some layers on my cards. I used three different patterned papers from the paper pad I was using. I even added some light purple/lavender washi tape on the top edge of on the papers. The sentiment and image were pop dotted to add some dimension to the front of the card.
You can see on the close up of my snow person that I added clear glitter embossing paste on the bottom of the snow person to ground him/her. I also added some of the same gel in the big dots on the bottom paper. I added some clear Stickles to the ball on the cap. I used my white gel pen to add some detail to the scarf and to the brim of the hat.
Please do some join us at Happy Little Stampers for our September Christmas Challenge.

This is such a fun, festive card Barb and I love your cold elf with the rosy cheeks. Love how you used the patterned papers and the light background wash adds some subtle contrast.

Barb, this card is unique. I love how you combined different patterns to create this stunning background. I love the colors and snow that you created around the snowman.
