Christmas Cards and a Sketch

It is that time of the year when you need to get your Christmas cards in order and made.   It is especially true for me since I will be in Florida late November into the first part of December for three weeks (of course, hopefully it is still there with Dorian brewing in the Atlantic as I write this).

I am doing the sketch challenge at AAA Cards.  This challenge blog is for clean and simple cards.  I do struggle making clean and simple cards.  All that white space scares me.

Here is the sketch for the challenge this week.  It had the optional twist of using an animal.

Here is my take on this sketch.  This stamp I have had in my stash for a long time and never used it.  I thought it fit the sketch perfectly.  I cut pieces of watercolor paper and stamped the image.  I then water colored the image.  To highlight the bird I came back in with some colored pencils and brighten up some of the colors.  I matted the image with a blue card stock.  I made my card bases out of the same watercolor paper.  I did add some watered down light blue oxide ink to the front and then using a stencil added clear glitter gel to give the card some sparkle.  (Christmas cards need sparkle.)  I made four of these cards.

I am also placing this in the current Monday Challenge at Simon Says Stamps.  Their challenge is to use something clear.  I used my clear glitter gel on this card.

Thanks for stopping by.
