My Mind's Eye, Retro Sketches Birthday Card

I needed to make a quick birthday card.  I had bought a new 6 x 6 pad from My Mind's Eye.  It was a nice change in colors from doing Valentine Days.  I used the weekly sketch from Retro Sketches.

I used a birthday sticker from SRM Stickers to add a sentiment for my birthday card.

Happy Thanksgiving

I know - be jealous - I have 2 thanksgiving cards done.  Of course the secret is to not misplace them before I need to mail them.  I need to finish the insides also since the paper is still out.  I let the patterned paper do all the talking on this card.  I did add Stickles and Glossy Accents to some of the leaves to give them a little depth.  I created the sentiment on my computer.  The paper is the fall grouping from Little Yellow Bicycle.

Don't be jealous of this - I am not working tomorrow.  The piano is being moved to my daughters tomorrow-  It will be nice for her to have it and play it.  I will enjoy not having it in my living room.

Retro Sketches, Fiskar and Lawn Fawn

I love the weekly sketch challenge from Retro Sketches - it is so simple in its design with so much potential.

With a basic design, you have to make sure that every element you use - packs a punch and coordinates together.  I grabbed a new to me 6 x 6 pad from Lawn Fawn (Dewey Decimal).  I love the colors.  I had cut a different shape for the main shape but it was too big and the lines of the shape did not go with the line of the banners.

I do have a problem making a single layer card so had to cut the same color rectangle as the card base and ink the edge to make the base for the design.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts - it is a sentiment I use lots on my Operation Write Home cards.  The bird shape is a punch from Fiskars.

Retro Sketches, Kaiser Scrapbooking and Operation Write Home

Good Tuesday - time to share a card made for the sketch challenge on Retro Sketches.

This could have been a Oldie Moldie Monday post because I have had this 6 x 6 pad from Kaiser Scrapbooking for sometime.  The Santa image was on one of the pieces of paper I had trimmed up to use for a background.  I could not let this image go to waste.  The weekly sketch from Retro Sketches fit the Santa Image perfectly.  I did not add a big bow - just the sentiment - because the card will be going into my Operation Write Home box.

I am also using the card for the Focal Point challenge on Moxie Fab.  They have a fabulous new edition out that focuses on design.  Sometimes you do things on your card and you don't know why - well now I know - somethings I had never heard of - gallon, quart, pint (I think).

Stampendous and Retro Sketches

Oh Happy Day - I got a card made for two challenges.  The sketch from Retro Sketches and the monthly challenge from Stampendous for summer cards.

Don't the colors scream summer - gingham, denim, eyelet lace and a cute little bee waving a flag.

The sketch is very simple but fun.

The paper is from Simple Stories.  Stamp is by Stampendous colored with Copics and some bling added to the flowers and bee boppers.  The sticker is from SRM Stickers.  

We have four generation of women in our family with the middle name of Bea.  This card will go to my daughter who is now living in Alaska - it will be her fourth of July card.  I may have to make a couple more especially one for the Queen Bea - my mom.  

I really have a card time putting a card front on a card that entirely covers the card base.  I take it off and put it on and take it off - you get the picture - so I finally get it on and I am happy with how it looks and I have it on backwards - well it is on there - and it is going to stay that way.  Hopefully they will smile when they have to open their card backwards.  I have a neighborhood family that all their cards are made that way because the first card I made I was in a hurry and running out of time so it had to go as it was - so now it is a tradition.  They would be offended if I gave them a card that opened up normal.

Wacky Wednesday

it is wacky because I had posted this last night to go alive at 6:00 a.m. - it said it was a draft this morning - oh well - try again.  And I apologize if there are lots of typing erros on here - I had my eyese tested today so not seeing very clearly.  Now the fun of picking out a new frame that you want to live with for several years.  Thank goodness for the tax refund.

My card today is based on the sketch at Retro Sketches.  I had bought this gift tag (package of 12) for 30 cents at Michael's - if you check Monday's post - there is a similar but different gift tag there.  I just used cardstock for my colors and layers.  The stamp is by Unity and I just cut out the hello.  this is either going in my Operation Write Home Box or I will send it to my Mom.  She likes to get mail.

Well I am off to do my dishes and anything where I don't have to see real well.  I don't think I will making any cards tonight.  I am taking a class from Jennifer McGuire right now - so I can kinda watch the video and get somewhat of an idea of what she is doing.

Sending You Love

Once again trying to get a card posted for the sketch on Retro Sketches - just making it by the hair on my chinny chinny chin. 



I love pink and brown together and have a collection of these colors - I should really purge that drawer tonight - I have a chance to donate some supplies and the last day is tomorrow - so I need to collect some more supplies to get rid of.

This card will be for Operation Write Home - it is a 4.25 square - 4.25 x 5.5 is the desired size but this will fit in that size envelope so it will work.  It is nice to do something different once in awhile.  The stamp is a $1 stamp from Michael's stamped with Memento Ink.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts and an American Crafts brad finishes off the empty corner.

Well off to design another thank you card and get six kits made so my friend and I can assemble tomorrow night.

Moxie Fab Challenge and Retro Sketches

day off from work - unfortunately I did not get as much done as I wanted so I guess I had better stay up all night and be very busy.  Yeah right - I will go put in a load of laundry as soon as I do this post - of course - on a day off you needed to play with paper.  Come back tomorrow for the other playing I did today - quite happy with that also. 

One job I did do today is tear apart some things so I had all this scrap bright colored paper in my scrap bin.  Yeah for me because Moxie Fab has a challenge to use your scraps - I was luckly I had a big piece of the yellow.  I embossed the bright colors except for the two pieces which were stamped.  I kinda wish I had embossed the very bottom of the pink also. 

The design of the card is based on the sketch from Retro Sketches - luckily I had all those bright colored scraps that worked for the sketch.  I made the card for Operation Write Home so I know it will be much appreciated. 



The bird stamp is Inkadinkado and the sentiment is a favorite Hero Arts Stamp.

I love long week ends.  



Retro Sketches and another masculine OWH card

Another masculine card for Operation Write Home - refer to Oldie Moldie Monday post from yesterday to see more cards made with some of this same paper.    I based it on the sketch from Retro Sketches.  A fun sketch.  Of course, cutting the banner is easy when you have a Silhouette - totally easy - I think I have used that die cut more than anything else I have.

Pebbles Paper

Time to get a few cards made for Easter - I think it is fast approaching.  I just realized this week it is spring break at work next week - I was thinking it was week after next.  Glad thing someone reminded me - since I am suppose to be at a conference on Monday.

The card is based on the sketch at a new site I ran across last night.  Retro Sketches. 

I had bought this wonderful paper grouping from Pebbles.  Such bright colors for spring.  Orange and red - who would think you would put those colors together - they did so I did.  The teal paper and orange paper are American Craft double sided paper.  Got a package at Tuesday Morning for $2.  This teal/aqua color is so popular in so many collections I knew it would make great matting.    The stamp is a $1 stamp I bought at Michael's a year or two ago - I have gotten my money's worth out of it.
