Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.  I have add these images floating around my crafting area for awhile and they were all colored, ready to be used on a card.

The paper pad is not that old and the heart background die is not that old.  The sentiment is from an old Penny Black set.  The embossing folder is old.

these are two kid cards for a foster care home in South Carolina.

Christmas Challenge

I am in a private Facebook group with a wonderful gathering of fellow card makers.  I have known many of them for over twenty years.  Cardmaking brought us  together.

For the last few years we have been doing a monthly Christmas challenge with a theme.  This month the theme is "bells".  I don't have many bells in my great stash of Christmas supplies.  One day I had a thought - scary I know - but I thought maybe my Tim Holtz stuff would have a bell image in it.  I was correct and found two bell images to use.

One of my cards also utilizes a loved embossing folder. and this week the challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown is to use an embossing folder.   I

My card is a mini slim line card.  The bell and holly image is from Tim Holtz.  I added it to an embossed background which was inked with distress ink to give it a vintage feel.  I matted the image with a red paper from my supplies.  This was all added to a kraft card base.  I did add gold splatter to the card because everything needs a little gold splatter.

One more Christmas card done for 2023.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.  This week I am sharing a card I made using patterned paper from Altenew.  Lovely floral design in beautiful soft colors make a great hello card.

The hello die is also from Altenew and I had never used it.  It is a great die - I need to use it more often.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies.  How about old supplies that you have never used before.  I believe we all have some of those in our supplies.

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.

I had a paper pad from Altenew out and found this lovely large floral design across the page and decided to make a mini slimline card.

It is old paper but with the addition of well aged cardstock to mat the patterned paper, you have a lovely sympathy card.

Oldie Molde Monday

It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.

I was going through my assortment of things started and not completed.  I found two of these cute snowmen all colored and the sentiment stamped on them.  I quickly added a red mat and put on a kraft card base.  I know exactly who these two cards will go to also.

Look through your supplies, see what you have started and not finished.  Finish them and you will quickly have a completed card or two.

Remember to show some love to your old supplies.

August Stencil Challenge for Happy Little Stampers

It is time to get out one of your stencils and join us at Happy Little Stampers for our August Challenge.

Our stencil challenge is Anything Goes.

This month I used this same technique and stencils for my cards in the birthday, Christmas and stencil challenge.  You apply a layer of gesso on watercolor paper.  You let the gesso dry.  I added multiple layers of watercolor over the gesso letting each layer dry completely.  After I had added all the color I wanted, I took a stencil and a baby wipe.  I used the baby wipe to remove the color from the holes in the stencil.  It gives you a beautiful ghosted color.  You can see different layers of color in the areas where I removed the watercolor.  It is a fun technique to try.  I added a die cut sentiment layered on vellum across the matted image.  I put it on a grey card base.  Pretty jewels were added across the card front.  Gold splatter was also added to the card front.  Who doesn't love a little gold splatter.

Here is a close up of the stenciled design with the color removed.

August Christmas Challenge for Happy Little Stampers

It is time for a new Christmas Challenge at Hapy Little Stampers.  We know Christmas comes every year but many people are still making their cards to mail in December.  Why don't you join our monthly Christmas challenge and get a few cards made ahead of time.  Our challenges are always Anything Goes but we do have an optional choice you may want to play with.  This month the option is elf.

I chose Anything Goes for my card.  I am on three different challenge teams and this month each of my cards uses the same technique.  The technique is to apply a layer of gesso to watercolor paper.  You then add watercolor over the top.  I added multiple layers of watercolor in different shades of blue and green.  Once the watercolor is dry, you take a stencil and a diaper wipe and remove color from the design in the stencil.  After I had removed the colors, I then added a layer of sparkly embossing paste in the design area.  The embossing paste picked up the base layer of color I achieved when removing the watercolor from the stencil design.  It is very sparkly and translucent.  The sentiment is from Penny Black and I added some white snowflakes around the sentiment.  I matted the image with a blue glitterpaper.  You cannot have too much sparkle on your holiday cards especially snow related cards.

Here is a close up of the stenciled design with the embossing paste.

August Birthday Challenge for Happy Little Stampers

It is time for a new birthday challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  The challenge is always Anything Goes and you know you have an upcoming birthday to make a card for - so please join us.

I was taking a watercolor class and she was telling us about a technique where you painted your watercolor paper with gesso and then added watercolor over top.  You then were able to lift the watercolor off the paper with a stencil.  I decided to give this a try over a week end. I made many backgrounds so I could try this technique.

I used a stencil and and a baby wipe to remove the color from within the open spaces of the stencil.  I love how I found a light green color for my leaf shape when the top colors were removed.  I die cut the image with a mini slimline die.  I used the coordinating die for the mat but I didn't think I got enough of a contrast from the kraft card base so added an additional brown mat.  I cut the birthday sentiment from the same brown card stock.  Gold splatters completed the card design.

Come join us at Happy Little Stampers for our birthday challenge.
