More Iguana Love

Another card for my next Operation Write Home box.  Who wouldn't be happy to get this card?

Happy Friday.

First Valentine Day's Card

This card had a ways to travel so I got it made and off in the mail early.  The paper is from Recollections, Michael's brand.  The stamp is from Whipper Snapper Designs - a Wisconsin stamp company.

Hope you are having a good week.  It has warmed up here but we are predicted to have snow today.  I am getting work under control and feel some of the heaviness lifting off of me.

Enjoy your Thursday.

Hugs

A card I made for a friend who had some bad news.  I hope it brings a smile to her face.  The stamp is from Stampendous and the paper is from Little Yellow Bicycle.

Blogger seems to like to load pictures now.

Sketch Saturday

I found a new sketch site - Sketch Saturday - it was a fun sketch.  I made a rectangle card instead of a square.  The image was already colored in my huge box of images.

I would upload the sketch for you but blogger is taking forever to upload for me - so no sketch for you to see - pop over to their site and check them out.

Not much to say - it is cold and I am getting sick of it.  Everyone have a good day.

Oldie Moldie Monday

I continued to use the same paper as last Monday.  I have not put what is left away.  I don't want to see it anymore but I think I made some nice cards for my next Operation Write Home box.

And unfortunately, since blogger is not playing nice tonight, you are only going to get 2 cards.  The other three will be posted later in the week.

Remember to show some love to your old supplies.  See they can make great cards.

Day 16 - Working Off Your Design Table

I was lucky enough to find this piece of background that I had made last summer in a basket on one of my tables.  I am not really sure how I made it - no - I am not sure what I used for the color - I know it was a piece that I put salt on to draw off the color.  Would you believe the stamp set was also in the basket.  It was my lucky day.

The card was based on the sketch from CASe This Sketch.

It also is for the challenge on the Penny Black blog - Sending Hugs Challenge.  How lucky that the stamp set in that box was a Penny Black floral design.  This card is going to a friend to give her a hug - she is starting her battle with cancer.  The flower has Stardust ink added to all it's petals so that the actual bloom sparkles.  I added the little touches of bling at the end of each stamen.  A sentiment sticker from SRM Stickers finishes off the card.  The image and sentiment were each pop dotted.

Now I want to make more background paper.  I wonder if I can duplicate it.

I am also entering in CAS-ual Friday's challenge - Color Block.

Paper Smooches Spark Challenge - Anything Goes

This week's challenge on the Paper Smooches Spark challenge blog is Anything Goes -

I got a new Paper Smooches stamp set - it is one of their older ones - but I know I will get lots of use out of it.  I do want to make this same card in pink and brown for a little girl.  This card is going to go to a local boy - only 5 years old - who is fighting cancer.  Someone local has started a card drive for him so that he gets mail - something to look forward to and to bring a bright spot to his day.  I have decided I need to do more things locally and with friends with my cards this year.

I think this card will make Colin smile.

You can find more Paper Smooches stamps here.  Isn't it great to support a US company.

How About a Wedding Card?

Had to use supplies that were not on my design table for this card.  A co worker got married so wanted to make him and his bride a special card.  I still have to find a verse and finish it but love how the outside turned out.

I embossed the background stamp with white embossing powder.  I then colored the paper with a gelato and wiped the color with a baby wipe.  The white really pops.  I had seen a sketch that had some of its elements at an angle like that so did that.  Everything is matted with silver.  The love is cut with my Silhouette and the celebrate is a sticker from SRM Stickers.  The white is embossed with a favorite folder of mine.

Hope you like my trip off the design table.

Day 16 What Is On Your Design Table?

On my table top I found an entire container of stamped images and some were already colored.  I found these two images - all colored - and luckily - there was paper on the table that worked to make a couple cards.  The image is a Whipper Snapper Stamp.

Use up all those supplies.  You never know what good stuff you have and sometimes limiting your choices makes you more productive.  The cards will go in my next Operation Write Home box.

Journal 52 - Week 2

the prompt for the 2nd week in Journal 52 (Iam catching up) is somewhere a simple place.  I chose "Home".

Now I have an entire week to create my next page in my Journal.

The prompt for this week is "you make me smile".  I went and bought a bottle of a paint color that makes me smile.  I guess that is a good start.

Day 15 What Is On Your Design Table - Oldie Moldie Monday

Actually there was a third card - but I took two pictures of the top card - I must not have my brain in working order.  It is a legal holiday so my brain does not need to kick in today.  All the cards will go in my next Operation Write Home box.

This is Echo Park paper from 2010.  Love the soft colors in it.  Actually I had a package of this paper so I probably could make some more cards.  Yes it does qualify for 'oldie moldie monday' status since it is from 2010.  I don't think it has been on my design table since then - probably just last spring.

I must confess I am getting sick of this - but I will stick it out through the month of January.  I am having to pull other products for specific cards.  I do have to get some valentine cards made.  Need to get one off to Australia.  Not sure how long the mail takes from here to there.

Enjoy your Monday.  I am going to get groceries, run some other errands and have lunch with a friend.

Journal 52 - Week 1

I saw on facebook a weekly help for journaling and doing for me mixed media.  It is called Journal 52.

Each week there will be a prompt to inspire you.  The first prompt was "Up, Up and Away".  I chose to use a butterfly.  They are so beautiful.  This butterfly was sitting on my design table - I had cut it out of white so I colored it with gelatos.  My Cameo Silhouette did the cutting of the butterfly for me.

The base for my pages are recycled program covers, sewn together and then the front and back are gessoed.  I painted with yellow acrylic paint.  The words grow and fly were cut free hand.  I used my Faber Castell big pens and gelatoes on the page.

Considering how fast I put the page together I am happy with it but hopefully when I have time my pages will be better.  The back of each page will be blank - the same color as the front - I can write on there if I wish.

Hopefully my art skills will grow this year.  It felt good to play with paint again.

Day 14 - What Is On Your Design Table?

I found a few bunnies on my table that needed to be colored.  The midweek throwdown this week on the Operation Write Home card blog Stars and Stamps - is to make an Easter card.  I made two of these cards.

This cute bunny is from Whipper Snapper Stamps.  It was colored with Copics.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

Enjoy your day.

Day 13 What Is On Your Design Table?

And the creative saga continues.

Who doesn't love Snoopy?  Found these images all colored and the paper was on the table - a perfect combination.

Well I am off to work for some quiet productive hours and then I can enjoy the remaining two days of my week end.

Paper Smooches Picture Perfect Challenge

The Paper Smooches Spark Challenge this week is the Picture Perfect challenge.

Here is the picture you were to take your inspiration from.

Yes it is a cake - but when I see the colors - I see a bee.  The black/gray color and the yellow color make me think of a bee.  When I think of a Bee, I think of 4 of my most favorite people in the world:  My mother (Molly Bea); my sister (Bonnie Bea); my daughter (Carrie Bea) and my great nice (Elaina Bea).  The card is for my Mom.

The bee is a digital stamp found on the Paper Smooches site.  I stamped the sentiment and the little hearts.  The hearts were very little to cut out.  The grid was cut with my Silhouette.  I know it will make my Mom smile.

You can find all the great Paper Smooches stamps to purchase on their web site.

Bee Happy.

Day 12 - What is on your design table?

I found some small sheets of this paper on my table.  I must confess I did have to get the white lace out of the lace container.  My embellishment tub is on my table also so found this sweet flower in there.

I keep finding things.  In fact, I found a 12 x 12 container full of stamped images - and some of them are already colored.  How lucky - just hopeful - that there is paper on the tables to match some of them

Come back tomorrow and see Snoopy.

Day 11 - What is on your design table.

Another post sharing cards made with supplies that are on my design table.  These are a continuation of the cards from yesterday

.
Come back tomorrow - I believe there may be a bunny visit.

Day 10 - What is on your design table?

I had a pad of paper and accompanying packet of coordinating stuff from Fancy Pants in the Swagger line and I have made 8 cards - I will share a couple today.

Come back tomorrow to see more.

Day 9 - What is on your design table?

It is amazing what you can find on your design table - especially when you have four of them which are very messy.  This stamp was on my table - I had never used it - it was one of the acrylics you buy for $1 or $1.50.  Many of the banners were already cut from a different project.  I had seen a sketch that used banners like I have these laid out - I don't believe they added a strip like I did or the sentiment above.  The embossed kraft sheet was also on the table.  I really do like how it turned out.

It will go in my next Operation Write Home Box

Day 8 - What is on your design table - Oldie Moldie Monday.

I found this paper grouping on my table - I have had it for awhile - It is from Pine Cone Press.  How fun is this - the colors, the designs.  There is more of the paper so you will probably see more of this sometime in the near future.

Remember to get out that old paper and show it some love.  These three cards will go into my next Operation Write Home box.

Day 7 - What is on your design table?

I found this cute image on my table all colored.  The patterned papers were three loose sheets that seemed to coordinate pretty well.  The matting for the image came out of my scrap box.

This will go in my next Operation Write Home box.

Enjoy your Sunday - I am off to work today.  I will accomplish so much when no one is in.

Day 6 - What is on your design table?

Another post sharing a card I made with things on my design table.  I have had quite the productive week - when you limit it yourself to choices - you can get lots done.

The flag piece is a piece of fabric that has been laying on my table for quite some time.  I made a little mini quilt many years ago using a similar image and it hangs on a wall in my dining area.

If you read my blog at all, you will know I make cards for Operation Write Home.  This card is a card I will write in and it will be sent off to a unit and given to a soldier.  They need to know that we appreciate what they do and the sacrifices they make for our country and the world.

This card is for the current challenge on the Paper Smooches Spark Challenge Blog.  The challenge is anything goes.

I used one of the sentiment stamps from a set designed as a fundraiser for Operation Write Home.  The stamped stars are from the same set - inked with several colors of Tim Holtz distress inks and then after I had the stars out I colored over the top with a Faber Castell Big Pen to give a little more red to the stars.  I also used a star embossing folder for the kraft background.  The sentiment and fabric are pop dotted for some dimension.  You can find that stamp set and many more at this link to their shop.

Everyone enjoy your day.  We had ice here so at some point I need to go out and get salt on my sidewalk.  I wanted to go to work - the drive there would probably be OK - but I doubt anyone has taken care of the sidewalks there and they were bad when we left work last night.

Day 5 What Is On Your design Table?

Sandy - from Operation Write Home - has a call out for some penguin cards.  I found this cutie all colored (in fact there are a few more) on my design table.  Luckily there was a 6 x 6 pad of Bo Bunny paper on the table.  I tried to pick out paper that was not Christmasy or too winter like.  The die cut was on my table also.  I did cheat on the embossing folder - I did take that off the shelf - the only one on my table was one with birds and flowers on it - I didn't think it would work.

So what is on your design table.

What's On Your Design Table - Day 4

Once a month we have a challenge which is sponsored by Our Daily Bread Designs - if we can post 50 cards in a month on a particular design topic - Our Daily Bread Designs will pay for 2 boxes of cards to be mailed overseas to our heroes.  This is so wonderful of a company to do.  Their donation brings so much happiness to our heroes and the people who receive the cards they send.

The design challenge this month is to use stripes.

I have been working off supplies on my design tables - I found this cute image already colored.  The striped paper was in a pad on my table.  I think it may have been the first time I have used that pad but the colors worked perfectly with the colors on the bunny and flower.  The bunny is from Whipper Snapper Designs and the sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

Happy Friday.

What's On Your Design Table - Day 3

I know it is Thursday but Blogger has not let me upload anything the last few days so this is Tuesday and Wednesday cards or maybe Monday - I don't remember.

The images were all on my table all colored.  The pretty plaid paper was there also.  It was double sided so that helps in creating a card.  The die cut sentiments were also on the design table. I like how the cards turned out.  Thankfully I also had an embossing folder on the table.  You may get tired of seeing this embossing folder after awhile.

These cards will go in my next Operation Write Home Box.

What did you find on your design table - Day 2? Oldie Moldie Monday

This week - I started creating using what is on my design tables - since I have four tables - there is lots to choose from.  As I was picking up the tables, I found this Easter image - Riley the Moose.  He was already colored (there were 2 of them).  I also found the sheet of double sided paper.  Bright pink on one side and the plaid on the other side.  Great for spring/Easter cards.  I also found the mat for the image on the tables.

These all qualify for oldie moldie.  The Easter images were colored a year ago.

The card will go in my next Operation Write Home box.

Come back all week to see what else I have found on my table.

What did you find on your design table - Day 1

I have been cleaning off my design tables (piles) and decided to use some of the things I found on the table and make cards for Operation Write Home.  I made 4 cards with this sentiment and patterned paper.  I love the house paper and thought the word sentiment in all the different languages was very fun with the paper.  The sentiment does take up quite abit of  space though.

Come back all week and see what else I have found on my table.  There are die cuts; there are colored images; there are scraps.  I could create off my tables probably for an entire year - but we will go for a week.

The paper is Studio Calico.  The stamp is Stampabilities.  The ink is Colorbox Chalk Ink - Charcoal color.

Happy creating.

Favorite Mixed Media Projects from 2013

I thought I would share some favorite mixed media projects from 2013.  In 2013 I tried to do some mixed media projects.  I love to do that so wanted to start again.  Who doesn't feel better when you slap some paint and gesso on something.

This was a favorite canvas I did.  I gave it to a co worker for her birthday.  I had lots of fun on this canvas.  Lots of paint.  Paste.  A die cut.  A rubber stamp.  Some rub ons.

This was another canvas for a co worker for her birthday.  Could you guess she likes to bowl?

I think I have some lucky co workers.  This was for Maretta - she retired - and she loves to quilt so a sewing themed canvas was made for her.  She really liked it.

Another co worker joked about proudly waving her Geek flag so I made her one.  It is made out of several layers of canvas.  Lots of fun.

This piece was done on a piece of corrugated cardboard.  That crease in the top was calling to me.  I really like how this turned out.  The snowman is a Penny Black stamp.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

Blogger is being very slow tonight so I will share favorite cards when Blogger feels like playing nice.

Cleaning and clearing up my space.  I actually see table top.  Wowsers.
