Tuesday 3-30-10

Good Tuesday evening. Beautiful windy spring day here in Wisconsin and the next couple days are suppose to be even better. Love spring. The tulips are starting to peak through the ground - I can't wait to see what the flower garden looks like this spring. Maybe there will be some photo ops with beautiful tulips.
Really not much to say tonight - I think I have the beginnings of a cold which I don't want. Results showtonight for Dancing - can't wait to see who goes home - oh please - oh please - let it be Buzz and Kate. Please.
Today's card is based on the sketch at Taylored Expressions. This card would be a great mother's day card or just a card to encourage someone. I did not do very much stamping on the card but the paper and flowers are very beautiful. Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Monday, 3/29/2010

Good Monday evening - almost bedtime - spent the evening with a friend, watched Dancing With the Stars - I can say I do hope Kate and Buzz go home this week. But we will see how the votes come in.
It is Oldie Moldie Monday - so time to dig deep in your supplies and find some paper to show some love to. This is one piece of paper which had all these different elements in. I made 2 cards and finished the insides with the one sheet of 12 x 12. My first card is based on the Sketch from the Sweetest Thing - Sweet Sunday Sketch.
Using the basic kraft paper as my cardbase - I used my dot Hero Arts background stamp to add some texture to the base. The kraft paper blended so well with the one sheet of paper I had for my cards.
Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Saturday - 3/27/10

A quick post today - I am heading out to a pajama party with my friend Shari - I think we are going to have lots of fun. We are having a lasagna throw down - Bobby Flay had better show up to do the judging. I made a white lasagna - (I made up the recipe so I hope it tastes good - but I figure if you put enough cheese in anything it will be good) and the other Barb made a traditional lasagna. I will report back tomorrow and let you know how everything tasted.

Today's card is based on the challenge on Moxie Fab - Picking Up the Pieces - well what cardmaker doesn't have pieces - it was just a matter of figuring out what pieces to use - I just grabbed one of my 6 x 6 pads from Basic Grey and used the scraps that I had so carefully tucked into the pad to use on another day - and last night was the night. I think I just trimmed down one piece, cut the narrow strip in half but the remainder of the pieces were waiting to turn into a card. The card base is the recycled cover of a program. I added the flower over the sentiment because part of the rub on did not adhere - had to cover up that spot and then we had to balance the flower. Add some stickles - we now have a card. I even know who I will send it to. If I can find the address.

Everyone have a wonderful Saturday evening.

Thursday - 3/25/10

Do you realize Christmas is 9 months from today? OK - now that we are in a panic mode - no holiday cards made yet - let's sit back and enjoy Easter and spring. It is very chilly here but the weather man is dangling a carrot saying it is suppose to be 70 degrees at the end of next week - I hope so - I would so love to be home and to be able to open my house up some.
I am taking Friday off so I have a 3 day week end - going to an adult PJ party on Saturday where my friend Shari is the guest of honor - it will be great fun. Watch movies, talk, giggle, maybe drink a little, eat too much. I am going to make stuffed shells - no recipe - going to wing it. I know what I want to use - and I bought it - but chicken and broccoli, alfredo sauce and lots of cheese. Cheese makes everything taste good. I hope. I will let you know.
Last night I decided to channel vintage into my card. I have this beautiful vintage paper by Karen Foster so I knew I wanted to use lace on it. The sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You - made into a 5 x 7 card - highlighted some of the beautiful bunny paper. Caardvarks also has the challenge to use lace on a stamped card. If you look carefully - the sentiment is stamped in the corner of the card - the sentiment is from Stampendous. I had bought the cream buttons last night on clearance at Hobby Lobby - and they worked perfectly on the card.
Well everyone have a wonderful evening. I am a little tired tonight - don't know if I will create much - I do need to make some recipe cards for the PJ party of Shari's favorite recipe. Peanut butter balls. Yummy - I will share the recipe and recipe card later.
Card - 5 x 7
Card base: Bo Bunny
Patterned Paper: Karen Foster
Lace and pink button from my supplies

Wednesday 3-24-10

Good Wednesday evening - ran some errands tonight after work, picked up a salad on the way home. Now - can I find any mojo in my soul. I have an idea running around in my head - I hope it comes together and looks nice. I guess I will keep this short so I can go play.
The card tonight is based on the sketch at Operation Write Home Star and Stripes blog. Today their theme challenge is four legged friends - well Mr. Mouse has 4 legs - but he ain't no friend of mine. Someday if you want to hear about the mouse, the air filters, the car being towed 4 times, and the mouse inside my car. Not a pretty story - but full of laughs.
Everyone have a wonderful evening.
Stamp - Stampabilities
Paper - scraps
Flower - some Prima, others from the supplies
Ink - Colorbox Chalk Ink - Chestnut Roan

Oldie Moldie Monday 3-22-10

Good morning - can't sleep so thought I would post to my blog since the cards are made. It is once again Oldie Moldie Monday - time to dig into your supply of papers, dig out some that has well aged - it is still pretty - but you have fallen under the spell of newer paper and forgotten the beauty of these old collections. This paper I found was 4 sheets of 8 x 8 paper. So I thought I would show them some love - and a little loving later I had made 4 cards.
I am going to make some cards for the soldiers to send home - I need to find the organization that coordinates this - so 3 of these cards are for that - and one for my friend Shari. Found the organization - Operation Write Home. Yeah - http://www.owhstarsandstamps.org/ - this is their blog. They have challenges - oh my - and two of my cards fit the challenge.
I bought two sheets of stickers from SRM Stickers to use for my cards – so my goals is to use all the stickers on these two sheets to make cards. I made 3 cards today and only one used a sticker. I love those stamps that have an image and words all together and it is just very simple stamping. This bird stamp from Hero Arts has been a go to stamp for me for adult birthdays this year. It is very versatile.
the paper is from Hot Off the Press.

The first card is based (very loosely) on the sketch at Card Positioning Systems. My stamped image was a little too large to have the stripes come over the top. I dug into the scrap basket for the pink.

Card two: Hero Arts stamp. Cut card base down so that the stamped image could sit above the card base. Twine – May Arts Button from supplies Stamped dots on card base with large background stamp from Hero Arts. The white ink is from Papertrey Ink.

Card Three: Stamp – Inkadinkado Cut stamp with Spellbinders and mounted it on a rectangle. Used my corner rounder on this card. Twine from May Arts. Button, flowers and brads from supplies

Card Four: Sticker – SRM Stickers Blue from scrap basket. Scalloped border – Papertrey Ink
Flours and brad from supplies.

Everyone have a wonderful day and evening and hopefully I can now go and sleep.

Mini Card

Good late Sunday afternoon. A day to catch up on laundry, cleaning, etc. I still need to do the dishes and eat some dinner. I then plan to head to the hospital to visit my friend Shari for a little while. Haven't been there since Friday evening. Miss her.
Went to see my Mom yesterday. It was a little dicey the first leg of the trip but after the first ten miles the roads were OK. I talked real sweet to my car going over a bridge to stay straight because I could feel the wheels slipping and sliding. Whew - we made it across. The rest of the trip was fine. On the way home - I stopped in Madison and did a little shopping. Retail therapy does such wonderful things to your attitude. Not that I needed anything but when was that an excuse not to buy. I did get some of the new Tim Holtz die cuts for 5 1/2 inch card borders - want to try them soon.
Today's card is loosely based on the sketch at Taylored Expressions. I turned the sketch on it's side since I already had this bunny colored and wanted to use it. This grouping of paper from We R Memory Keepers is so springy that it is fun to use. I do wish I had some more of the words on this card but this was the last little bit of that particular piece of paper.
The second card is just a quick little card to put in the mail to my Mom this week. Her name is Bea so that is why I wanted to use this little bee. Of course, it has been sitting around uninked for quite some time and needed to be used.
Well I must close and do my dishes, eat some dinner and get ready to go to the hospital. Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Top of the Evening to You

Happy St. Patrick's Day to everyone. I went and got myself some corned beef and cabbage at a local restaurant and enjoyed it immensely even though there is not an Irish bone in my body. Beautiful weather here in Wisconsin - I have my windows open for awhile to let some fresh air in and the winter smells out. But - it is suppose to snow on Saturday. YUCK.

Just a very quick post tonight - I have been spending lots of time at the hospital with a friend so tonight I must get lots done. I have to do my taxes since I am going to the tax preparer tomorrow.

My card is my 10th dragonfly card. It is for a call for dragonfly cards on Taylored Expressions.

Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Oldie Moldie Monday 3-15-10

Good morning – it is oldie moldie Monday. The day you post cards that you have made out of your well aged paper. It is a vice – buying paper – so in order to have to buy more paper we must use some of our well loved, (well we loved it one day – the day we bought it) and aged paper. Please join us and you can post your oldie moldie paper cards in our Flicker gallery.

I found this group of paper and it also has 3 sets of coordinating stickers. I did use one sticker on one of the cards. I even made the flower on one of the cards. I used a napkin from some restaurant and cut the layers with the small scalloped spellbinders. I stamped little dots on them and crumpled them up. It turned out pretty good for my first try. I did buy a dictionary at goodwill to use – I wonder where I hid it.

The first card is based on the sketch at The Sweet Shop. It was a fun sketch.

Well time to get going and head out to work – everyone have a wonderful day and I hope you get to spend some time being creative.

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Good Sunday evening. Spring is coming - I think - all the snow is almost melted around my house - so that is a lovely sign. Of course, the lawns look terrible but are too wet to work on. Maybe in a week or two I can get out and start raking. I looked in the flower garden and I can see some flowers starting to push their stems out. How exciting - spring breaking forth - I guess that is why we tolerate winter - so we can experience spring.
Did not get lots of creating done this week end - I have a friend in the hospital so visited with her several times and today I made some soup to take down to her for her dinner - it is nice the hospital will let them eat other food. The time changed last night - so now it is time to redoing the internal clock - but I know I will enjoy the extra light in the evening when it gets warm out.
Today's card is based on the weekly sketch from Card Patterns. Time to get some more Easter cards made - the stamp is from Whipper Snapper Designs - I happened to be in the store in Milwaukee and they were having a sale - I think I got this stamp for $1. Isn't the bunny fun.
Everyone have a wonderful evening - come back for tomorrow's "oldie moldie cards" - why don't you dig out some of that well aged paper and join us in our quest to use some of that beautiful paper we had to have.

Thursday, March 11, 2010

Good Thursday morning. This is my morning of doctor appointments before I head to work so going to work in a few other errands around the doctor appointments. Oil change on the car, post office, maybe some groceries, scrapbook store, it is next door to the last doctor appointment - so I need to drop in and see if they have anything new and interesting. We have been having lots of dense fog - I hate driving in the fog - you drive down a road everyday - and in the fog - you lose your bearings and really have no idea where you are. Of course, people still pass. The snow is melting though - maybe by the end of today - I will see all of my deck. Everyone is so ready for spring. How is the weather where you live?
Today's card is for a special friend who is battling cancer. She needs something to make her smile right now. Don't tell anyone - but I have even bought cards to send her - there are some pretty funny cards out there. I bought one of the taking cards - it is so funny - I would love to be a mouse in the corner when she opens that card.
The card is based on the sketch at The Sweet Shop - they have a sketch on Saturday - it was a fun sketch - I got out a pad of paper I had bought - it is a valentine collection from My Mind's Eye - but enough of the paper does not have hearts on it so you can use it for everyday cards.
Everyone have a wonderful day.

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

Good morning from rainy Wisconsin - yeah it is not snow and the yucky snow is melting away - pretty soon we will see ugly brown grass. That will be OK - I had some work done outside last year so I am excited to see how the new grass comes up and also how my new flower beds will look. I have planted lots of tulips last fall so hopefully they will pop up and add lots of color to the front of my house. I imagine I will have lots of dirt therapy this year getting the flower gardens in shape. Alas - my paper budget - may have to be spent on new flowers.

My card this week is based on the sketch at Card Patterns. Somewhat like it. I have discovered this last week I am enjoying the gingham ribbons - I need to go to a store and see if I can find some more. Last night I wanted red gingham and could not find any in all my ribbon. Oh boy, an excuse to go shopping.

Just a quick post - my coffee is done and I desperatly need a cup of it. Going to eat breakfast at work - best food buy around - $5 for a breakfast buffet and you can have omlets made to order - yummy. Going to take my assistant out for breakfast. She works so hard.

Everyone enjoy your day.

Tuesday March 9, 2010

Good Tuesday morning - I don't know if posting in the morning is that good of an idea - I really don't have too much to say when I just get out of bed and haven't had my first cup of coffee.
My cards today are dragonfly cards - Taylor is having a dragonfly card call on her site. You can stil send her cards - I think if you look you will be surprised at the number of stamps you have that are dragonflies. I actually found a beautiful set of paper from Kaiser Scrapbooking that I have used on many of my cards. I have used all this group of paper now. The first card is also based on the weekly sketch at Taylored Expressions.
Everyone have a wonderful day.

Oldie Moldie Monday 3-8-10

Close up of butterfly

A very early morning greeting. I should be drinking my coffee but I am sharing my oldie moldie cards for today.
It is suppose to be warm this week - yeah that dirty snow will disappear - it is very foggy out this morning so it will be a soupy drive to work. It is going to be a crazy week at work - very busy. I suppose I shouldn't start looking forward to the week end already should I.
My friend Ivanka and I have started doing Oldie Moldie Monday again. This is when you dig into your well aged paper and bring some out and make some cards. It is nice to use a few pieces up and then I put the remaining in a scrap bag. Gone now - used up. We also have a Flicker site where you can post your oldie moldie cards and share with everyone. http://www.flickr.com/groups/1339251@N20/
Everyone have a wonderful day - hopefully I will feel like creating again tonight. I guess I really should do some housework. YUCK.

Close up of Bow, flower and bunny

Good Sunday evening - where did the week end go - I sure could use another day. I have not gotten out of my PJ's today. I guess that is a good day - of course - when I go to pack lunch tomorrow - I may not have anything to eat for lunch - oh well - I can find something.
Had a great visit with my daughter in the Milwaukee area. We went out to dinner on Friday evening and the food was fantastic. It is so nice to go to a restaurant and have such wonderful tasty food and drink - plus a fantastic bread pudding for dessert. Saturday we went shopping and then we made scalloped potatoes and ham from scratch the way I use to. I always made it after Christmas to use up the leftover ham.
I had a good day of making cards so I am set for posting most of this week. I do want to get a few more made. I am pleased with everything I got created.
Today's post is based on the sketch a the OCC Sketch Blog. I turned it on its side (the sketch). Isn't that bunny just the cutes. He is one of the $1 stamps at Michael's for Easter. I know I will get my $1 worth of good out of him. Get Sketchy's weekly challenge is to make a shaped card with a spring theme. My card is square - not the typical A2 - and it is spring. Plus the colors in the card remind me of the colors from the Tuesday Trigger on Moxie Fab World.

Close up of bow

Good Thursday evening. I quick post - ran errands after work so home late and need to get some things done - I don't even think I will get to play with paper tonight. Oh dang.
This card started out for the sketch on Card Positioning System but then it really took a turn. You can see some similarities in the sketch. The rectangle and the longer card. I like how the card ended up. I showed it at work and someone wanted to buy it.

Wednesday - 3/3/10

Good Wednesday evening - someone has been spreading a rumor that spring is on its way - so why is it 9 degrees in the morning and last night when I left some friends - my windows were all frosty - but the full moon was beautiful. I am glad we made it through hump day - only two more days till the week end - yeah. I think I can - I think I can make it to Friday at 4:30.
I am getting started on making some Easter cards. The blog Rubber Punkin had some free downloads for Easter tags - she had some free Valentine tags that I had fun with so wanted to use the Easter tags. This is the first two cards - I have a couple more cards planned but that will probably be next week before I get to them. The first card is very loosely based on the sketch at Our Creative Corner's weekly sketch site. You will notice I said loosely.
Well I need to go make a phone call. Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Tuesday - 3-2-10

Good Tuesday morning. Since my cards are made I thought I would post before I head off to work today.
The first card is based on this weeks sketch at Taylored Expressions - the last card is a sketch from a previous week that I wanted to do but never got done and middle card I just wanted to show off the beautiful dragonfly paper. Taylor is having a call for cards with a dragonfly theme. You can read more about the call for cards at this link. I do need to go buy another sheet of the dragonfly paper for cards. I love double sided paper but if yo are making mulltiple cards out of a paper and need both sides - you run out very quickly. The backside is the dark green - a wonderful accent for your cards.
Well a short post - because I need to enjoy my cup of coffee before I get ready for work. Every one have a wonderful day.

Oldie Moldie Monday 3-1-10

Can you believe it is March 1 - I hope that means that the snow will melt and spring comes. I think the entire US is ready for spring - winter has been interesting for so many people this year. I know I am ready for spring - I want to see what flowers come up in my new flower beds and the thrill of having some "dirt therapy" - although sometimes it is hard to choose between dirt therapy and paper therapy.
Today is Oldie Moldie Monday - dig into your supplies and find that beautiful paper that has been aging on the shelves for several years - it is still beautiful - it has just been forgotten - show it some love. My friend Ivanka and I do this on Monday - we have a Flicker Group - where people can join us and put their Oldie Moldie cards also.
My first card is loosely based on a sketch from a new site I found this week when I was out surfing the net - The Sweet Shop - stop by and check them out.
I have two birthdays in the office today - so this card is for one of my students - can you guess her favorite color.
Everyone have a wonderful day - I know work will be very busy this week.
Card One:
Paper: One Heart One Mind
Stamp - 1st card - Hero Arts (bought shopping last Friday) - added a strip of adhesive to one line and added adhesive.
Ribbon - May Art (new purchase - all gone now)
Brad and bling from stash

Card Two:
Bird Stamp - Craftsmart from Michael's ($1) colored with Copics
Sentiment - Imaginisce
Flower from supplies
Leftover ribbon from Card One
