Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.

I wanted to use the sweater die and knew I had patterned paper that looked like a knitted sweater.  I die cut two of the sweaters for my card.  I also cut the sentiment from coordinating paper.  I used a snowflake stencil and added a shiny paste to the background.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies - they still make wonderful cards.

December Stencil Challenge at Happy Little Stampers

It is time for the new December Stencil challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  It is a fun challenge because the theme is always anything goes.

Recently on a trip to visit a friend, we spent the afternoon playing with our geli plates and trying different techniques.  My card today was created with one of the pulls I created.

Here is a picture of the print I started with for my card.

I die cut the print into two rectangles.  Both rectangles had more open space than what I wanted for my card design so I decided to layer them offset with each other.  I dug through my paper supply and found this lavender envelope which I cut for the mat.  It has beautiful texture also.  I will now have a coordinating envelope.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.  This was the first time I had used the sentiment and I really like it.  I will use it some more.  I finished the card with some shiny white ink splatters.

Here is a close up of one of the rectangles.

The Male Room Christmas Challenge

I am the guest designer for The Male Room Challenge for the month of December.  I am honored to be playing along with their challenge this month.

Are you scrambling to get more Christmas cards done for this year?  Last year I was ahead of the game and had enough cards done - this year - I am going to be short in my cards.  The challenge this month at The Male Room is Christmas and it can help you get at least one more card done or maybe you can batch a few cards of your design.

I was visiting my friend Cindy and I used a couple of her sets of Tim Holtz stamps to make this card.  She had made a card very similar to this design so she provided the tools and inspiration for me.  I watercolored the images with the Tim Holtz watercolor pencils.  I then inked the edges of the image with several colors of distress oxide ink.  The image was matted with dark red cardstock and then layered on top of some very well aged patterned paper.  I have a large collection of well aged pattern paper.  I finished the card with splatters of the expresso oxide ink.  I did make six of this card.  Four of the cards use a different patterned paper.

Please come and play along with the December challenge at The Male Room.

December Christmas Challenge for Happy Little Stampers

It is December.  Do you have all of your Christmas cards made?  I don't know if I have enough but what I have done will have to do.  The other people may get Valentine cards.

We have a new challenge at Happy Little Stampers.   It is always anything goes but there is an optional choice if you wish to do that.  This month the optional choice is "festive animals."  I actually played along with the optional choice.  My festive animals are a bunny and kitty.

This is a 5 x 7 card so that I could show off this beautiful patterned paper.  I love the shades of blue and green.  The stamp is by Penny Black and it was colored with alcohol markers.  I did add Stickles to the trim and ball of the hat on the kitty so that it sparkled.  I also added the Stickles around the base of the animals to make it look like sparkly snow.  The snowflakes are dies from Papertrey Ink.  White splatters completed the design of the card.

Two Christmas Challenges and Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies.  What better way to use your supplies than to do a couple challenges.  Luckily they both involve a Christmas theme.

The current challenge at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown is a sketch.

The current challenge at The Paper Players is Christmas.

Here is my Christmas card using the sketch from 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.

I dug into my Tim Holtz hoard of patterned paper and embellishments.  You can see the basic sketch on the card.  I added the holly as my embellishment.  My junk journal supplies were still out so I added some hand stitching around the edges of the design and then tied a bow in the corner with the waxed thread.  I really like the black/tan plaid as a background.

Remember to show some love to your old supplies.

December Birthday Challenge for Happy Little Stampers

How did it get to be December?  Well it is and it is time for a new birthday challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  This challenge is always fun because it is anything goes.

I needed to make a masculine birthday card.  Why are these so hard to make?  I decided to keep it very simple and very flat for ease of mailing.

I had the color blended background in my supplies.  The color blending was done with oxide inks and I used a stencil from My Favorite Things for the opening.

I stamped the tree and sentiment in a dark brown ink.  I added splatters with a Tim Holtz mica spray gifted me by a friend.  I die cut the image with a rectangle die and added it to a dark brown card base.  This was such a fast and easy card to make.
