February Happy Little Stampers Watercolor Challenge

Hard to believe that the month of January has already passed and it is time for a new watercolor challenge at Happy Little Stampers.  It is time to dig out all your different ways of doing water coloring, find some brushes and have some creative month.

The challenge this month is "anything goes" with the additional twist if you wish to do which is metallic.

This is a birthday card for my oldest daughter.

To bring the "optional twist" of metallic into my card, I added gold metallic watercolor stripes to make the background for my card.  I have a stamp from Gina K Designs which is watercolor stripes.  I painted the gold metallic paint on the stamp, spritzed with water and stamped onto the paper.  I repeated this several times to cover the entire background of the card.  Once stamped, I took a wet brush and extended the length of the lines so they filled up the width of the card.  The stripes have a very loose look to them.  I also added gold splatters with the same watercolor.

The floral image is from Ellen Hutson.  It is a beautiful floral.  I stamped it in Versafine Black Onyx ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I used my Scan n Cut to cut the floral design out.  I watercolored the image.  I am still working on those skills.

The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed also.

I took a bunch of black thread and laid it on the card front and added the image with foam tape on top of the card front.  Sequins were glued onto the card front.

Here is a close up of the floral center.  I added gold to the little dots (sorry I do not know the biological name for those dots).

Here is a close up of the sentiment.

Please come join us at Happy Little Stampers for our February Watercolor challenge

Love the bold turquoise of the flowers against the almost wood-look background - very pretty.

The idea for gilded bars in the background is simply brilliant. It looks stunning and so beautifully highlights your beautiful flowers. Super card
