It is time to get messy and play along with us at Happy Little Stampers February Mixed Media Challenge.
The challenge this month has the theme of butterflies.
I had won this lovely stamp set of butterflies and received it in the mail so it worked perfectly for this challenge. I embossed the butterflies and die cut them. There are three sizes of butterflies in the stamp set. All three sizes were used on this card.
The background was done with Distress Oxide Inks. I love to play with my distress oxide inks. A layer of pearl embossing paste was put on the background paper. All the layers of distress oxide colored paper were matted with black.
The sentiment is a free digi from Autumn at Sew Paper Paint. Thank you Autumn for this great digi. It was just what I needed for my retirement card. Mary smiled when she read it.
I first colored the paper for the sentiment with distress oxide and then I printed the sentiment.
Here is a close up of the corner of the sentiment and the small butterflies. You can see the layer of embossing paste and also the layer of black thread.
Here is a close up of the strip on the left side of the card. The large and medium butterfly are layered on the strip.
Here is a close up of the black bow.
Here is a close up of the entire sentiment.
I even decorated the inside of the card coloring it with the distress oxide inks, stamping butterflies and coloring them.
So the card was too large and too fat to go in a normal sized envelope so I took black card stock and sewed it together to make my own envelope. I used some tealish ribbon to finish the envelope.
