Hump Day Wednesday

Yeah the work week is half over - downward slide now. I was able to create one card last night. Need a few thanksgiving cards so thought I should get started on them. I found this cute wooden scarecrow at Hobby Lobby on sale and thought he would make a great addition to a card, The background around him was white but a little brown ink and he has a nice antiqued finish. The card was based on the sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You.

Here is a close up of my bow. I just make 4 loops and then tie something around the center of the loops. You can either wrap the center or decorate it like I did with the buttons and twine.
Thanks for stopping by.

Christmas Cards Started

Good Tuesday evening - I got a little time to create last night - dug out a paper collection from last year - love this color combination - the card was put together with pieces left over from projects. The card is based on this week's sketch at Card Positioning Systems. I love layers so this sketch really worked for me. Tonight I also tried to take closeup pictures of the snowflake and the bow. Let me know if you enjoy them. I added some snowflake rub ons to the aqua die cut.

The snowflake is a Sizzix die - the snowflake was cut out of chipboard and painted on both sides with acrylic paint - while the paint was still wet - I sprinkled fine glitter over the top. I added the white snowflake on top and then a touch of bling - the bling was the finishing touch. The cherry on top.
Here is a close up of the bow. Made the loops and tied wire around the middle to put it together. I seem to have so much better control of my bow when I do it this way. Added a foam snowflake to the center of the bow.

Another Week End Gone

Another week end is gone and of course I did not accomplish enough. I did manage to buy a new dining room set - I am excited - I think the set I have is over 30 years old - out with the old - this new set is so bright and cheery looking. It will be delivered next Saturday and on Saturday I am having my new bathroom light and new towel fixtures installed and the curtain rod hung in the bedroom - yeah - closer to getting things back to normal. I think I may need to buy a new sink fixture to match everything - have to talk to my friend the plumber about this.

I did get one card finished this week end - I do want to play a little tonight. This card is for my friend Shari who is battling breast cancer. The chemo has worked so now she can have the breast removed. I hope she will like the card and message of encouragement.

It is based on the weekly sketch at Get Sketchy. I moved the trim to the other side (my bow). I guess I added an additional layer in there with my image.

Happy Saturday

Jus ta quick post - I have planned a work - play; work - play week end. I strongly believe in bribery and even use it on myself. So hopefully I will accomplish some things around the house and get some cards made also.

Sympathy cards are the hardest to make because I always make them when I need them. A co worker's husband recently passed. This is the card I made for the office for her and her family.

Where did the week go?

Sorry - no posting this week - I struggled making a sympathy card all week so not too much productivity. I made this card for my neighbor boy - he turned 8 - but his name is Hunter and his Dad is a hunter - so Hunter had seen this image on a card I had made and he told me then - he wanted this image on his birthday card.

Everyone have a wonderful evening - I had the day off today - hopefully friday does not feel like a Monday. Busy week end ahead.

Yeah Friday

Yeah - it is Friday - made it through 5 days of work - the last couple weeks I haven't worked a whole week - I really liked that - But I did get lots accomplished this week. That feels good.

Working on my cards that I need for October - my mom's birthday is October 12 and she will be 91. Still lives on her own and bakes a wonderful apple pie. I try to send her a card every day of her birthday week. Gives her something to look forward to. I should send her a card every month - heck - it is not as if I don't have enough paper and supplies in my house.

My card tonight is based on the weekly sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. Had this new stamp I wanted to use and the Crate paper was still sitting out so I used it again. I believe this is the third card out of that paper collection.

Going Bananas

Going Bananas seems to be the right title for another monkey card. I know the cards make Shari smile every week and that is the idea - a little hug from me in the mail. Pray she gets good news next week with her scan.

Glad it is Thursday - catching up at work - that always feels good - I don't think I ever see my desktop.

The card is based on the sketch at Taylored Expressions.

Good Tuesday Evening

Had a wonderful evening with my "Ya Ya's" - a special group of women friends. Good dinner and now I wanted to post this card before I get things ready for work tomorrow. I do have a card somewhat laid out - I know the idea - I know the paper grouping I want to use - now maybe I can pull some more of it together so I can make it tomorrow night.

The card tonight is based on the weekly sketch at Card Positioning System.

Good Monday Evening

Good evening to all - survived another day of work which is always good. A quick post tonight - I am doing my run around and water the lawn routine tonight - do need to figure out the other sprinkler - but my new hose is not long enough so need to go buy another small hose. Oh well it is only money - money I could be spending on card making supplies - all those new holiday papers should be coming soon and of course I need them even though I have containers full - a girl just can't have enough paper or rubber stamps. Or Mama could use some more Copics.
My card tonight is the birthday card for the little sweetie that lives next door - she turned 8 on Saturday. She loved her card and she also loves to make cards. Do you ever find that you keep using the papers that are laying out - I sure do - so if you look back in the blog you will find more orange cards.
The card is based on the sketch challenge at Caardvarks - it is sketch 3 - I have enjoyed their 3 sketches - I guess they talked to me.

Guess I need a Title - Title Unknown

Sunday evening - I want another 3 day week end - trying to get everything done so I am ready to start a full 5 day work week - it has been awhile since I have worked on - I don't know if I can do it. My outside remodel has been finished. They finished on Saturday and now I have the fun of watering the new grass seed and hope it grows very well. I was out at 7 this morning doing this. I know what my Monday night fun will be.
TV tonight is a real challenge - the Packers are playing the Bears; the women finals in the US Open tennis tournament and at 9 - the final show in the HGTV Design Star. Oh my - lots of surfing tonight.
My card tonight is based on one of the 3 sketches at Caardvarks - this is Sketch 2 - come back tomorrow for Sketch 3.

Tuesday

A quick post before I head out the door today. I wanted to share my weekly monkey card for my friend Shari. I hope it brings a smile to her face. Last week – please forgive me – I sent her a card I bought some time ago – I wanted to make sure she had a card. Since I loved the card I made earlier in the week with the orange paper – and it was still sitting out – I thought I would use it for a cheerful card.
I hope you enjoy it.

It is based on one of the sketches at http://caardvarks.blogspot.com/, This card is based on Sketch One. The other two sketches look like fun also and you have until September 14 to post a card.
Everyone have a wonderful day.

End of a 3 Day Week End - Oh so Sad

I like thse 3 day week ends but unfortunately I must return to work tomorrow. I did do some good things over the week end but there are always more things that need to be done. Never enough time to do everything. I did manage to find some time to do some creating - which always feels good.
I found a new Sketch Site so decided I needed to try out their sketch this week. Get Sketchy is the name of the site. This is their 4th sketch. Birthday card for a man who loves to scuba dive.

3 Day Weekends

I love 3 day week ends - I still have one more day to probably accomplish nothing - NO - I will accomplish something. I need to mow and my car needs to be washed - oh - groceries - I really need those - not much left in the house. I do have coffee and creamer so I can survive.
Today's card is for my daughter's birthday. Hopefully she doesn't peek at the blog - it is late - but oh well - she got her present earlier in the summer.
The design is based on the sketch challenge at Taylored Expressions.

Everyone enjoy the remainder of your week end.

Feels Good to Create

It felt good to create a card last night. I had done my coloring the night before and using Sketch 30 from Card Patterns made the creating very easy. This was a special order card for one of my students to give to her aunt - her aunt bought her a vacuum cleaner, helped her decorate her bathroom in monkeys and orange is Sierra's favorite color (she has a large orange couch from Ikea).
Everyone have a wonderful evening.
Stamp- Stampendous colored with Copics
Paper - My Mind's Eye - of course all the names were cut off the paper
Ribbon - Little Black Dress
Flowers - Prima - turquoise was colored with Copics
Rub On - Melissa Francis
