Playing With A Sketch

I am trying to make some thank you notes for a non profit I am involved with so I used the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for my card layout. 

I flipped the sketch on its side and my flower represents the strip on the sketch.

 I am also placing it in the challenge at Addicted to Stamps which is Anything Goes.

At Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge the challenge this week is also Anything Goes.

I have been trying to put my crafting area back together.  It had exploded all over my house with lighting and eye issues.  I believe all that has been solved now thanks to cataract surgery and a nice visit from an electrician with new lights and more plug ins.  Oh happy day.  But I digress.  As I am picking up I am finding all these backgrounds I have made.  I am putting them in one box.  I almost have a photo box from Michaels filled with backgrounds.  This is where the pieces came from for this card.  Unfortunately I really have no idea how I made this background - I am thinking it is distress oxides and it has also been dry embossed.  The other pieces are just pieces with a light blue ink on them. 

I have a new floral die and have die cut quite a few of these flowers.  If you look back, you can see a few more cards using this flower on them.

Happy Little Stampers September Watercolor Challenge

Hard to believe that September is here.  In our area of the world, the kiddos start back to school next week.  Pretty soon it will be snowing.  UGH.

The watercolor challenge at Happy Little Stampers for the Month of September is Anything Goes with the optional twist of tropical.

I do not have too much in my supplies that are tropical but I did remember I had this flamingo stamp from Whipper Snapper Stamps.  It is wood block stamp but I removed it from its block and used it in my Misti (the best tool ever invented for the stamper). 

I stamped it on watercolor paper and used my Cut and Scan to cut it out.  I used a new watercolor set I recently bought which was a very inexpensive one at JoAnn's.  It had some pretty colors in it.  The flamingo is several different colors of pink. 

I was having difficulty deciding on a background for my flamingo.  I believe I went on Pinterest and was just looking at cards and saw one that had stripes painted on the background.  I picked three tropical colors from the watercolor set and painted on my stripes.  Each stripe has several layers of the same color on it to give a bright bold stripe.  On two of the stripes I added clear glitter embossing paste through a stencil. 

One of my original ideas was to use tropical leaves so I had cut several leaves with my Silhouette and colored them.  I used two of the leaves to ground my flamingo.  I die cut the sentiment from some black cardstock.

I needed a birthday card in October for my great niece so I am hoping she likes Ms. Flamingo.

Simon Says Anything Goes

I love challenges that are "anything goes" because it works right into whatever is on your design table.  Luckily for me the current challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge is Anything Goes. 

I am working on some thank you notes for a non profit and I recently made some cards using some inked backgrounds I had made awhile ago and some new die cuts I had.  This card is scraps (the blue pieces and the black stripe pieces) from those cards.  I just arranged them so they were pleasing to my eyes. 

The sentiment stamp is from Rubbernecker Stamps.  I like the size and font of the thank you.

I keep wanting to add splatters to this card but I am trying to practice restraint.

S Is The Letter of the Day

I am playing along with the Monday Challenge at Simon Says Stamp.  The challenge is "S is For".

"S" could be for so many things.  My S words are stamping, sparkle, and splatters.

I had visited my friend Annie and we played with our gelli plates and distress inks.  The card started with one of those backgrounds.  The flower was stamped on two different pieces of gelli plate backgrounds and fussy cut with scissors (that is an S word).  I believe I did add a little more color to the flower and stem/leaf.  This stamp is from Dina Wakely.  The sentiment  (another S word) is becoming a favorite for me.  I added sparkle (another S word) with a clear glitter embossing paste through a stencil (another S word).  The flower was adhered over a bed of black thread with pop dots to add some dimension.  Then I added black splatters (my final S word).

I even created a pretty envelope to mail the card in.  I wonder if postal workers like seeing pretty.

I enjoyed creating this card.  I love that new flower stamp.  Thanks for stopping by. 

Oldie Moldie Monday

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.  I saw this sheet of patterned paper with fish on it and new I could make some male cards for a military box a friend is doing.

The stamp I used is very old also.

It is Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies.

I found this sheet of patterned paper in my large paper supply and decided to use a sketch and make some simple cards for a friend's military box.  All of my card stock is well aged also.  The only fairly new thing I used on the card is the hello die.

CAS Thank You

I was able to play along with a couple challenges this week.  I should have been cleaning/clearing but making a card is more fun.

The weekly challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More  is Clean and Simple.

 I decided to flip the sketch.  I had been digging in my background box and found a couple pieces that would work for the sketch.  I used some of my precious black and white stripe from My Favorite Things to cover the cut line and the very end of the floral stem.  The flower is a new die from Spellbinders.  The stamp is from Rubber Necker Stamps.
