I am visiting a friend tomorrow night. She and her husband just bought their first home and I wanted to take them a little house warming gift. I also know that Tamela appreciates the things I make and will cherish this little canvas.
I have this new stamp from Tammy Tutterow (actually I have a Home Sweet Home stamp from her that I wanted to use but I put it in one of the safe places) so I used this stamp instead. I love the saying.
I am playing along with the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge which is a Tic Tac Toe. I used the spray, stencil, stamp row.
I made the blue flowers from a Tammy Tutterow Spellbinders floral die cut. The lace flowers I justed gathered up and they kinda look like a rose (kinda). I found the Prima orange tinted flowers when going through some things. I tucked in some little silks I had and a couple twine loops. The ribbon has been floating around my crafting area for a long time. I kept it because it is beautiful.
It is a six inch canvas. I used a piece of patterned paper. I prepped the paper with clear gesso. The design on the paper shows through. I did add some green Dylusions paint on top and did a little stenciling with a darker green paint. It is really hard to see. I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Ink and used clear embossing powder on it. I added the two orange hearts using a Stamp from Judith and also the little circle is a stamp from her also.
One trick I have found when trying to layer items on a canvas and tuck things in, you sometimes need some height. I glued pieces of cardboard onto the orange flowers and also to the bow. You are better able to tuck all the other flowers in and under the other flowers and bow. I also wanted a little design to come out from under the florals so I die cut some branch/leaf shapes, painted them green and adhered them with gel medium. You can see them a little more on the top. I added some blue embossing paste through a stencil and rubbed the blue around the edge of the canvas also. To finish the canvas, I misted gold spray in the air and let it fall onto the canvas. It really gives a nice shine to everything.
Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my fun canvas. It may be hard to part with it.

Oldie Moldie Monday
It is Monday, time to show some love for your old supplies. This week I am using some older Studio Calico paper and a stamp I have had for quite awhile.
I stamped six images and was able to use two. Today was not my day for lots of things working correctly.
I am entering the cards in three different challenges. The Paper Players have a sketch challenge. The second card is their sketch.
The second challenge is a Weekly Christmas Card Challenge where this week the challenge is Anything Goes. I like this challenge.
The monthly Christmas challenge at Happy Little Stampers where the challenge is to use Twine.
Remember to show some love for your old supplies.

So Happy For You
A card I am sending off to my daughter who is relocating with her company. Hopefully it will arrive on one of her first days of work.
The white paper (not really true white) is from Authentique. I have a hard time working with just plain white paper. I stenciled a flower shape in two corners. I stamped in the bottom right corner a floral stem from Penny Black. The sentiment is from Gina K - I cut it in pieces so it would work for this card. From classes I have taken online, they say this is ok to do.
It is a very simple card and I am trying to embrace simple. I think I need more of a bold flower stamp. Maybe I will try something different tonight. I want to make some cards for my cousin and this would be a great design and easy to do.
Thanks for stopping by. Hot and muggy here in Wisconsin.

Mixed Media Birthday Card
I was challenged to use Junk Mail on a project. My flowers are made with envelopes. The security envelopes (many of them) have some great patterns to them.
The flowers were die cut with a Spellbinders die and painted with different Tattered Angels paints or mists. I even painted the centers of the flowers. The ribbon was colored with one of the paints which had a little water added to them. The perfect way to get a coordinating ribbon for your project.
The background paper from Canvas Corp was painted with their Gerber Baseboard Paint.
I cut a strip of the paper and painted the backside and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on the paper. The sentiment was matted in black. I did distress the edges of all the paper.

I am going to enter the card in the monthly challenge at Happy Little Stampers where the challenge is texture.
The texture begins is the distressing along the edges of the paper and then the flowers have texture in them with their different layers and the bow.
Thanks for stopping by.

Oldie Moldie Monday on Tuesday
I had a "how to" post yesterday for the Mixed Media Mojo so did not get to post my Oldie Moldie Monday cards. Do not fear, I did make some.
This sketch is from Retro Sketches. Both cards are a version of the sketch. To accommodate the circle stamp, I needed to move the tags down on the bottom card. I like the sketch. I did use a few sheets from a 6 x 6 pad. The sweet bee is paper pieced. The stamp is from Whipper Snapper Stamps. The tag die is from Paper Smooches.
Everyone have a wonderful Tuesday. I am fighting with a mixed media piece. I keep hoping I can save it.

Pretty in Purple
I am the blogger on how I did this journal page over at Mixed Media Mojo today. Pop over and see how I created this fun piece (well I think it is fun).
Here are some close ups of different parts of the journal page.

Coffee/Friendship ATC
Today I am sharing an ATC I made where the theme was "Meet Me At the Coffee Shop". I had just bought this fun stamp so that is what I used. I did lots of layers on this card with paint and then embossing the sentiment with brown embossing powder. A little more paint distresses around the sentiment.
The stamp is by Stampendous.
I am entering this ATC in the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop.

New Stamp - New Card
On Tuesday I did my stop at three of the stamp/scrapbook stores in the Milwaukee area on my way to my daughters.
One of my stops was Gina K's new store front in Greendale, Wisconsin. It is called Village Paper and Ink. It is well worth the stop if you are a stamper, card maker, or paper crafting. Gina K was working in the store also along with a couple other friendly faces I recognized. My card today used a stamp I bought at the store. I have a thing for trees and leaves.
I based my card on the weekly sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.
I struggle with making clean and simple cards. I think I struggle with the white space so I used a scrapbook paper here for my stamping surface. The surface has lots of depth to it so I don't know if that stops it from being clean and simple.
The stamping at the bottom represents the strip on the bottom of the sketch. I did move my sentiment to the other side. I needed to balance the tree. I just colored the inside of each leaf with a copic marker and added some grass under the tree to ground it.
I am also placing it in the challenge at CASology where the challenge is masculine. I guess the colors make it masculine in my mind.
Thanks for stopping by. I need to go to the post office to mail bulky cards. I am also cleaning but hope to get back to creating a little also today. Have a wonderful day.

Oldie Moldie Monday
I guess this was the week for masculine cards during Oldie Moldie Monday. I found this paper - three sheets that went together and was able to create five masculine birthday cards. I now have birthday cards made for birthdays in November and December. Two of the cards will go into card donations for two different charities. The trees and truck had already been stamped and were waiting to be used on cards.
It is amazing how many cards you can make when you just grab some coordinating paper, decide on a theme and go from there.

Floral Birthday Cards
As I was going through my paper I found this text paper with just the word WISH on it and I decided to use it for a few cards. I think I had seen a similar card on the internet somewhere - where - no one knows - least of all me - and made two of this particular design. I had stamped three but I messed up one. I will have to see if I can save part of the paper for another card.
The stamp is from Art Gone Wild and I believe the sentiment is from Penny Black. I used Dylusion paints to color the flowers. The blue background is a distress paint. All the paints were diluted with water.
I am entering this card in the challenge at Inkspiration where the challenge is Text.
I am also entering it into the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge where the challenge is summer garden. I think these colors scream summer.
Everyone enjoy your Sunday. I hope to do some more creating. I need to complete 20 cards for a friend's daughter. The daughter has MS and has a fundraiser going to fund an MS walk she does in the fall. I already donated 20 cards to her other daughter for the same cause.

Homage to Purple
I recently participated in a postcard swap where your postcard had to be the majority of the color purple. When the swap started, Prince had just died and I believe that is what inspired the swap. I must say the entire time I created my postcards, the song Purple Rain kept going through my mind.
Here are my three postcards. All the backgrounds were done with different shades of purple acrylic paint and stencils. I did invest in a container of purple embossing powder and loved using it.
Penny Black Butterfly Garden stamp done in purple embossing powder. I believe the sentiment is from Hero Arts.
This is a Hero Arts background stamp done with the purple embossing powder.
This is just a stenciled background. The words were done on the computer and printed on painted paper. Do you know that you can quickly heat emboss your text once it is printed especially since the painted surface was non porous. I used clear embossing powder on the words.
These are the three postcards I received. It is always so fun to see what other people create.
So, don't you have the words from Purple Rain going through your head.

Christmas in June
I am trying to work ahead on my Christmas cards this week since I always seem to be running a losing race in December.
The challenge on the weekly blog Merry Monday Christmas is Cards for Kids.
I will buy gift tags when they are on clearance to make cards out of. These tags are usually the focal point of your card and an easy way to produce a few cards. I suppose in a way it is cheating - but I am OK with this type of cheating or short cut taking - maybe that is a better explanation for me to use Christmas gift tags.
I had eight of these sweet little penguins. I went into my supply of Christmas papers and found some good papers to coordinate with the many colors in the scarf of the penguin. I did use my Silhouette to cut my layers for matting the penguin. This sure makes it easy when you are doing multiples of a card.
I dry embossed some snowflakes from recycled card stock for the background. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches. I added a little snowflake brad where the hole for the tie was. Everything is quite glittery. The snowflake may need a little pink bling on it.
I have kitted the seven other cards to be assembled when I am unable to create from scratch.
Thanks for stopping by. I am off to work on a mixed media birthday card. I think this will be fun. I predict for lots of layers. You will have to wait until July 1 to see it though. It is for a challenge blog where I am a team member.

Christmas Cards and Oldie Moldie Monday
It is Monday again - time to show some love to your old supplies.
The current challenge on Jingle Belles is Frosty the Snowman. I was looking for a stamp and on the shelf was the snowman that I used on my card. The snowman has such a cute personality and today it is a girl snowman because she is all dressed up in her pink scarf and hat and is wearing some bling on her finger tips.
The paper is random pieces from different collections that I gathered together to use. I did see a date of 2008 on one of the pieces. The stamp is from Stampendous and is colored with Copics. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches. The felt snowflakes are from my supplies. I added some extra bling and Stickles to finish off the card.
I did add some blue chalking around the image so that the white paper which the image was stamped on was not so WHITE. Sometimes this distracts me from the card so have tried to find a way to add just a small amount of soft color. What do you do for this.
I did make four cards so I am a happy Christmas card camper.

June Mixed Media Mojo Challenge
Hard to believe it is the first of June already and now it is time for a new Mixed Media Mojo challenge. In honor of Queen Elizabeth's birthday, our challenge is of the royal nature: Fit for a Queen with the added twist of Jewels/Gems.
I had a project in my mind but it was not coming together so after seeing a fellow team member's post, I decided to go with Queen Bee. My mom passed away in April and her name was Molly Beatrice and she was our Queen Bee. There are three other Bea's in the family: Bonnie Bea, Carrie Bea, and Elaina Bea.
The bee image and the crowns are from The Graphic Fairy which I cut out. A wonderful site for images to use on your projects. I also used the wings from a couple smaller versions of the bee that I had also printed.
I had a piece of patterned paper that I applied to my canvas and added a few pieces of dictionary pages. I wrinkled some tissue paper and added that in several areas to add some texture. Different layers of paint were added. I did a little stamping with a new stamp. I used a Tim Holtz stencil and some bright pink embossing paste to add the flowers. A Donna Downey stencil was used to add the pink splots on the left side. I also had a stamp set I had never used which the Queen Bee comes from and that was stamped on tissue paper. I also stamped the bees around the canvas.
Here is a close up of the embossed paste flowers.
Here is a close up of the bee. I had printed two of them so cut out the wings on the second bee and the wings are off the canvas. Glitter and bead gel was added to the wings to make them sparkle.
Here is a close up of the wings on the side of the canvas and the pink embossing paste. You can see some of the wrinkled tissue paper and the stamped bees.
Come play along with us. Bring your "royalty" out to play.
Thanks for stopping by.
