Card 1 - 365 Cards Sketch Challenge, Circles Challenge

Card 2 - Creative Corner Sketch Challenge Blog

Prize Package for Oldie Moldie Monday Challenge May 3

Good Friday afternoon - storms moving in so it will be a quick post. I was able to do some creating last night and this morning. I took the day off to get some work done and errands run. The garage looks somewhat better and I think I was safe in running the gas out of the snowblower. I guess I now need to go buy gas for the lawnmower. I also got my drivers license renewed and some blood work done. I think that was pretty good day - and I still have the evening to do more things.
I have two cards to share with you tonight. With these two cards I satisfied 4 challenges - that is pretty good for me. Sketch challenge on 365 Cards and Sketch Challenge on Our Creative Corner Sketch Challenge blog. The Friday challenge on 365 cards is to use circles and the challenge on Die Cuts R Us was to post two projects.
Card one:
Making Memories paper
Stamp - Studio G
Buttons - American Crafts
Lace - from supplies
Card Two
Making Memories paper
Flower stamp - Stampendous
Sentiment Stamp - Stampendous
Button - American Crafts
Spellbinders
Papertrey Ink Scallop Die cut
Both cards - challenge to do 2 projects - Die Cuts R Us
And you say - what is this about a PRIZE PACKAGE. Come back on Monday and play along with Ivanka and I on “Oldie Moldie Monday – the day of the week when you dig out that once loved paper that has gotten buried by new loves – dig it out and create a card or cards from it. Ivanka and I are offering up prizes (yes we each have a prize) – but of course they is a little bit more to the challenge. Come back on Monday and play with us.
My prize includes a pad of Basic Grey paper and 3 different sticker collections from SRM Stickers. Intrigued - I hope so - and you don't need a blog to play - we have a Flicker gallery where you can post your creations.
Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Wednesday 4-28-10

Good Wednesday evening - time to go to bed - just got home but I did want to post the card I finished last night - we won't talk about how many nights it took me to finish it. It is going to be a graduation card - I have several graduations this spring so will need some cards.
The Ya Ya's went to Shari's tonight to watch a movie. We watched "It's Complicated" - I had seen it in the theater - and it is funny - it is funny the second time around - if you haven't seen it - get the DVD and watch it - everyone needs a good giggle.
Tonight's card is based on the sketch at "Get Sketchy". It is a fun sketch. I made the mistake of stopping at Tuesday Morning on Saturday and found some good buys - the one thing I bought is a box of Cosmo Cricket paper, chipboard, letters, stickers, etc. I know I will get my $14 worth of fun out of it. Everything on the card is from Cosmo Cricket except the lace and twill tape - they came from the "supplies".
Everyone have a good sleep.

Good Tuesday morning – another day of work. Of course, I am thankful to have a job in today’s economy and a job I enjoy and a job that keeps me busy the majority of the time. But it is always good to come home and spend some time with your paper.

Did you watch Dancing With the Stars last night? Who will go home tonight? It will be interesting to see. But Castle was a repeat – bummer.

My card for today is based on the sketch at Card Patterns. I love this sentiment – aren’t there special people in your life that are special friends – tell them now – send them a card – it will brighten their day and make you feel good also.

Everyone have a great day and take the opportunity to brighten someone’s day.

Oldie Moldie Monday - 4-26-2010

Good Monday morning – another work week starts. But of course, Monday does bring Dancing With the Stars and Kate has gone home – so who am I going to make fun of now. Oh woe is me.

Yes it is Monday – Oldie Moldie Monday - time to dig into your supplies and find some of that paper that you once loved but never used, it got buried in the bottom of the pile with new paper put on top – now is time to dig it out and make some beautiful cards. My friend Ivanka and I do this each week on Monday to try and use some of our oldier once loved paper. We even have a Flicker site where you can come join us and post your oldie moldie creations.

This week’s paper is not that oldie moldie. It is only a year old. I used it for a retirement card last year for one of my bosses. I love the colors in this paper. I thought it would make some great masculine cards for Operation Write Home. The first card is based on the weekly sketch at the OWH card blog. The other cards are just my creations using a few masculine stamps (I don’t have too many masculine stamps).

Everyone have a wonderful week and come back next week – we have a challenge and Ivanka and I each have a prize.

Inside

Back

Good Sunday evening - back to work tomorrow. Oh please let it be quiet. Very busy week end. I went and visited my Mom on Saturday. Lots of driving in one day. Today I got groceries and did some carding and then spent some time with Shari - can you believe I was putting hair on a Chia pet. I imagine no one else was doing that today. Also made some homemade chicken soup.
My card tonight started out as the sketch on Clean and Simple stamping - well I can't do that - it is the sketch but there is nothing simple about mine. I have a thing for layers. One of the challenges on 365 Cards (Challenge 53) was to do the outside, inside and back of your card. So my card is ready to go. Unfortunately I could not find my stamp with my name on it to put on the back - you must imagine my name is stamped on the back.
The stamps are from Hero Arts. We have a thing about Bee's in our family - 4 generations of women with the middle name of Bea.
Everyone have a wonderful evening and Monday. Come back for Oldie Moldie Monday.

Good Friday evening - starting to rain here - sounds like it may happen all week end - I guess I won't complain. We do need the rain.
I spent the day with my friend Shari - we had a pretty good day. I did get my first group of cards ready to go to Operation Write Home. I want to make a few more this week and then they will go in the mail.
This post contains two more cards I am sending them. The first card (actually both cards) works with the midweek challenge on the Operation Write Home card blog to use metal on your cards. I do use lots of brads. Love the big brads on the first card. I think they may be by Imaginisce. The stamp is by Hero Arts. The second card uses a stamp from Inkadinkado and several of the flowers are recycled from an old project. The paper is the oldie moldie paper I used for the week. I still have more left. Oh my.
Everyone have a wonderful week end - hopefully I find some time to create this week end.

Good Thursday evening - did you do something "green" for Earth Day. I hope so. I wanted to share a card tonight before I get things organized for a day with a friend. I am looking for an elusive spool of ribbon - if you know where it is hiding - please let me know.

This is another card I have made for Operation Write Home - a very general card that can be used for any occasion. They received over 6000 cards this week - isn't that fantastic - so every card you can send puts a smile on so many faces.

Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Cardmaking goes green. Earth Day is tomorrow - it is founded by Gaylord Nelson 40 years ago. Gaylord Nelson is from Wisconsin.
In an ongoing effort to save trees and money, I have been trying to make cards from my oldie moldie supplies - they are still beautiful - they just got buried by all the new supplies we buy - now don't get me wrong - I have not completely stopped buying - I still can not resist the call of new paper - but if you stay out of the stores it sure helps - and stay off the internet. My cards cut across several challenges. Both cards are from the sketch designs at 2 Sketches 4 You - haven't done these sketches for awhile - I just hate it when life gets in the way of playing with paper. The second challenge is from Die Cuts R Us - it is an earth day challenge to add at least one earth related embellishment. The third challenge is from 365 Cards - Day 50 - item more than a year old (paper), something given to you (shopping bag) and something forgotten (lace) - when you sew you forget you have all these pieces of stuff laying around. Luckily there was enough for the 2 cards.
My embellishments (the flowers) are made from the shopping bag from one of my favorite stores in Madison, WI - The Scrapbook Superstore - I used my Cuddlebug and the circle dies from Spellbinders to cut layers of 3 different sized circles for the large flower. The smaller flowers only use two sized circles but many layers. I distressed them and added a brad to hold them together.
The card base on each card is the covers from programs. I can not throw away good cardstock - even if I have to tear it off things that are being recycled in the trash.
I hope you enjoyed my "a little bit green" creations.

Tuesday, 4-20-10

Good Tuesday morning. Another beautiful spring day in Wisconsin - I let my body rest yesterday so tonight when I get home from work - I need to work on another flower bed and work it up. It is so dry that the soil does turn over fairly well. It was funny at work yesterday because we had all been working outside and we were all groaning as we hobbled along.
My two cards today were made for the midweek challenge on the Operations Write Home card blog - the challenge was to make two versions of the same card - one masculine and one feminine. The difference in my cards was the paper used and the colors. I also di the twine accents in the buttons different on each card. I like how they turned out. I think next week I will be able to put my first box of cards in the mail to them. I have friends at work writing Hero letters for me.
Everyone have a wonderful day - come back tomorrow and see how you can take a bag from one of your favorite LSS and use it on a card. It will soon be Earth Day so we must open our eyes to how we can reuse, reduce and recycle in our cardmaking.

Oldie Moldie Monday - 4-19-2010

Good Monday morning – I thought I would post before I head out the door for work today. Hope yo have a wonderful week planned whether it be work or play – and as always hope it includes some creative time – creativity is good for the soul.

It is Oldie Moldie Monday – time to dig into your supplies and find some of that paper that you once loved but never used, it got buried in the bottom of the pile with new paper put on top – now is time to dig it out and make some beautiful cards. It is just amazing what you can do with that well aged paper. And ultimately – the next time you go to the LSS – you won’t feel too guilty about buying new paper because you have used up some of your supplies. My friend Ivanka and I do this every Monday and we have a Flicker site – where you can join use – and post your lovely creations for that once loved paper. In May – we are having a challenge “oldie moldie Monday” – more details to follow. Did I say there would be prizes.

One of the wonderful things you can do with your paper is to make cards for Operation Write Home – make cards for soldiers to send home to their families and friends – everyone tells me there are no Hallmarks where the battles are – and of course – the cards we create with such love – are so much better than Hallmark. Operation Write Home has a card blog – and each week – they have several challenges. On Sunday they have a Sketch – on Wednesday there is another challenge. Please stop by and check their site out and make some cards for our soldiers and their families.

Plus I dug into my scraps of paper and found coordinating cardstock to use with the cards. Obviously I had some project that I used this red on. I also found full sheets in my drawer – must have been a good sale on that cardstock – but so far I have just used scraps of everything. That makes you feel good also.

My first card is based on the sketch from the Operation Write Home card blog. So far – I have gotten 3 cards made from the paper I chose to work with today. I used some of the paper on 12 recipe pages I made for a swap and now I am trying to make cards from the remainder of it.

Everyone have a wonderful day and week. Come back tomorrow to see two cards I made – same design but one is masculine and one is feminine. Are you intrigued? I hope so.

Sunday 4-18/10

Good Sunday afternoon - beautiful day outside - the wind stopped blowing so much more enjoyable. I managed to do some more dirt therapy and got one flower bed cleaned up - going to head out shortly and put Preen on it and see if that helps with the weeds. I don't think I disturbed too much of the new plants coming up. I know I will have some retail plant therapy in my future when the bed establishes itself some more - we are lucky to have some wonderful perennial stores around our area so I imagine I will be visiting some.
April has Earth Day. Do you know Earth Day was first established in Wisconsin. I have a daughter who teaches environmental education so do strive to try to live"somewhat green". Try is the operative word. My cards and recipe pages all have one thing in common - the base of all of them is recycled. It is the back cover from commencement programs. I can't throw away good cardstock so I always save whatever I can from the programs I end up throwing out. I also have grey cardstock from a previous style of program. What do you do to reduce, reuse, recycle when you are making cards? Also all the patterned paper on these designs are from paper that I describe as "oldie moldie" - paper you once loved but lost their way to the bottom of the piles - dug out to make something beautiful. Come join me and Ivanka on Oldie Moldie Mondays to see what great finds we have in our supplies. We also have a Flicker gallery where you can share you "oldie moldie" creations.

Saturday 4-17-2010

Good afternoon everyone - beautiful day in Wisconsin - but it is windy so there is a chill out there. I indulged in some dirty therapy - digging out the weeds in my flower beds. They are new flower beds so lots of weeds. The goal is to get one side done this week - I don't think that will be a problem. I got my errands run this morning so now I can relax at home the remainder of the week end - relax - now isn't that a mouthful. Who relaxes on a week end - too many things to do.
This morning I did get two cards made. The cards are based on two challenges. The sketch is from Die Cuts R Us (Tuesday sketch) and the Wednesday challenge from the Operation Write Home card blog is to make his and her general cards. This Smile tree stamp works so well and it can cover so many occasions.

More cards for Operation Write Home. I got 2 of each of these designs made - I don't have too many masculine stamps so I am having to be creative.

Good morning. A quick post before I head out the door to work today. The last of the cards I made with my oldie moldie paper – 4 sheets of paper and 10 cardbases and my collection of golf stamps. I must say – by the time I made my last card – I was very sick of this paper.

All these cards were made for Operation Write Home – I hope they will bring a smile to the recipients – both the soldier that receives the cards to mail and the person who receives a note from a loved one.

This is a worthwhile cause – if you have some spare time and 4 sheets of paper – see what you can do for this worthwhile cause.

Dang - it is Sunday evening and tomorrow it is back to work again. Too bad we have to work to feed out habits.
I had a busy week end of making cards for Operation Write Home - come back for the next three days to see them all. Their weekly challenge was to use blue and brown - I decided to make some masculine cards - all have a golf theme - I have a multitude of golf stamps.
I started out with 4 sheets of patterned paper and managed to get 10 cards out of it. I am glad I got to end of this paper but I did use most of it up - there are just a few small pieces left.
All the paper is from Hot Off the Press - from a book of paper titled Masculine Papers. The ink used on the projects is Colorbox Chalk Ink - Chestnut Roan - my most favorite ink.

Saturday - 4-10-2020

Happy Saturday and dang it is almost over with. I did get groceries so I will be able to eat for the next couple weeks. Would you believe I went to Michael's with my 50% off coupon and I couldn't find anything to buy. I finally bought a set of B cutting mats for the Cuddlebug. OUr Michael is carrying their brand of paper now - some of it was pretty cute. I bought some monkey paper - I am thinking Shari needs to have a monkey card again. It has been a couple weeks since she got one. Her battle with cancer continues.
I did do some creating today. I have lots of birthdays and mother's day in May plus a graduation so I need to get busy and make some cards. This card will be for my adopted neighbor daughter - it is based on the Thursday sketch at Our Creative Corner - I ended up not doing any stamping on the card. I was going to stamp the sentiment but didn't want to risk ruining the card with bad stamping. The challenge at Creative Corner for Saturday is to use a bow - this card works for both their challenges.
Everyone have a wonderful evening. I need to find something to eat for dinner - it is 9:30 at night - I think I missed dinner.

Thursday 4-8-10

Good Thursday evening - yeah one more day to the week end and the weather is suppose to be in the 60's. The doors and windows can be open. I probably won't do too much outside until I get the all clear on my eye which will happen next week. I do like Friday's - last day of the work week but also I can wear my Jeans to work - they are in the laundry as we speak - now to find a top to wear with them.
My card tonight is based on the weekly sketch at Taylored Expressions. A new sketch every Friday. I decided I needed to use a new set of stamps I got from Papertrey. I love the images and all the sentiments that go with it. I know many people this would be an appropriate card to be send to them. I may have to draw a name out of a bowl or make some more. The coloring of those buttons takes awhile.
Everyone have a good evening - I think I want to do some clearing - but then once again - I have some cards swirling around in my head - best get them made.

Hump Day - yeah made it through - now we can start the downward slide to the week end. I need to do some housekeeping tonight - yuck - but I will do the dishes and maybe then I can make this card that is floating around in my head - come back tomorrow night and see if it happened.
I am still working on how many cards I can make out of 4 sheets of paper and a scrap piece - it sure helps when some of the paper is double sided. Infinite possibilities - well maybe not that many - but enough. Any big enough scraps are going into the scrap bin - I want to move onto some different paper. This all started with my Oldie Moldie cards on Monday, more on Tuesday and the last 3 tonight - I made a total of 7 cards and they are all for the Operation Write Home. If you want to make cards for a worthwhile cause - this is a great one. Check out their blog - they even have challenges.

Tuesday 4-6-10

A quick post - just got home and it is time to think about getting ready for bed - the Ya Ya's visited Shari tonight. We all watched Dancing With the Stars - oh please - send Kate home.
This is a continuation of "how many cards can you make from 4 sheets of paper and some card bases" - this is day two of a 3 day episode. Come back tomorrow for the final episode. The scraps called to me all night last night so I had to get up and make a card this morning before I left for work (the 2nd card in tonight's post). I found a challenge this week to use a craft cardbase - I stamped a background stamp on my kraft cardbase on each of these cards. It is an old Stampin! Up background stamp. I love the dimension that is added to your cardbase. This challenge can be found at Crazy 4 Challenges. The first card is based on the Sunday sketch at 365 Cards. (Day 35 Super Sunday Sketch)

Monday - 4-5-10

Good Monday evening - sorry for the lack of posts - last week did not turn out to be a good one for me. Got another bad cold, then had tears in my retina on my left eye and had to have laser surgery and then to top it off I broke the insert for my crock pot. Being sick, I could not go home to visit my Mom and help her with some things around the house. Hopefully this week will be a better week.
Once again it is Oldie Moldie Monday so need to dig into our piles and piles of beloved paper and do something wonderful and creative with it. These particular pieces of paper will be used all week in an attempt to see how many cards I can make out of 4 whole sheets of paper and some contrast from a striped scrap. Please join us for Oldie Moldie Monday - you can post your cards at our Flicker site. The flowers have been hanging out at the house for awhile also. I believe the ribbons are fairly new purchases (2010). The first card is based on the sketch at the Stars and Stripes blog (Operation Write Home). They have a new sketch each Sunday. I have decided to start making cards for this very worthy cause. I have a goal of 20 and then we will set another goal after that.
The stickers on the card are from Srm Stickers. They have some great stickers for card makers. They also have a blog hop this week plus a sketch. Their monthly challenge is circles.
Everyone have a wonderful evening. Need to see if I can make some more cards out of my 4 sheets of paper - any guesses - (one sheet has been the card base for two so now there are only scraps left for accents)
