Holy Cow

Holy Cow – I was rereading some of my posts – would my typing teacher from high school be ashamed of me. The story I am sticking with is “my mind works faster than my fingers” – thus the problems. So I am going to do my writing in Word and then paste into my Blog – maybe that will help.

Made it through Thursday – have three jobs I need to accomplish at work but I did manage to find lots of others things to do other than those jobs – hopefully tomorrow I will just do them. One will have to be postponed till Monday. But it is Friday – yeah and it is going to be very tepid here this week end – 40’s – some of that snow will melt. YEAH.

The card for today is a “COW.” Of course, in Wisconsin – you would have to make a cow card plus I am a farm girl. The cow on my card is not black and white but don’t tell anyone. Of course, she has to have a little “attitude” – thus – the pierced nose. Hmmmmm – my daughter went to Europe one summer – some where along the way she did manage to get her nose pierced. Oops - Off that sidebar - Added a little bling to my flowers – love that valentine day clearance – now why didn’t I buy more. I hope you like my sweet little bessie.

Stamp – Gina K
Paper – Basic Grey
Prima flowers
Bling – Darice
Ticket corner punch – Stampin! Up
Rub On – Basic Grey
Ink – most likely – Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink – ColorBox by Clearsnap

Ivanka's Pig Fest Continued

From earlier posts - you remember that my friend Ivanka is having a Pig Fest over on her blog. March 1 is National Pig Day - she is offering prizes so go post a card and shsare it with her on her blog.

We only got a couple inches of snow - it was very nice for the weather men to be wrong on their forecast. It was another horrible drive to work. But we shouldn't be complacent - there is more coming Thursday and Sunday. Oh goody.

But back to this fun piggy card - Scallops are all the range so I bought some scalloped paper and will get a couple full cards and then some trim out of a 12 x 12 sheet.

Cardstock - Bazzill Basics Paper; ColorMates
Patterned Paper - My Mind's Eye Out and About
Stamp - Gina K (and this is a Wisconsin stamp company - how fun - I almost fell out of my chair when I found out - of course - I had to make a visit to her store in McFarland)
Ink - Colorbox Chalk ink - Chestnut Roan - my favorite ink
Ribbon - Wrights - I got it at WalMart - it had wire in it but I just pulled it out
Computer generated sentiment

Check out the bling on the pig's tail - this was in a collection from the Target $1 bin

Go check out Ivanka's blog and see the slide show of all the pig cards.

Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Monday - survived - whew

Made it through Monday - yeah - oh for a quiet day at work with nothing to do. But it is evening and I am home. I was suppose to take a class tonight at the LSS but it was cancelled due to "guess what" - more snow. It is dipping south - I hope it keeps dipping and misses us. So tomorrow morning - will have to get up - and clear the sidewalk and driveway before I can go to work.

Today's card is "Ode to the Mouse" - my favorite creature (NOT). Not sure about the little rub on flowers

Cardstock base - Bazzill Basics Paper
Patterned paper - I don't remember but I do the name of the company was on the piece adhered to this card front - Doodlebug maybe
Stamp - Gina K Designs
Ribbon - from the leftover ribbon piece jar
Prima Flowers
Bling - Darice
Rub ons - De Ja Vue, Bo Bunny, One Heart ... One Mind
Cuddlebug Embossing Folder

I colroed some of the flowers on the patterned paper with Twinkling H2O's to match the pink cardtock and the color of the inside of the ears of the mice. Brushed Sparkling Mod Podge across the embossed yellow strip to give it some sparkle. Added flower rub ons. INked the edges of all the papers. Added a little touch of bling to the layers Prima flowers. The mice were colored with colored pencils and Gamsol.

Think Spring

The week end is over and time to start a new week of work - oh I do wish my ship would come in so I did not have to go to work 5 days of the week. I could just stay home and play with paper. What a pleasant dream. I did get a few cards made this week end and the sun did shine so I got some pictures taken. Weather wise - we are in for another rough week of snow. Did you know snow is a 4 letter word.

But - I tried to chase away the winter blues by making an Easter card - do you realize it is a month away - the Easter Bunny will have to get a snowmobile in Wisconsin and hide the eggs in the snow.

This was my interpretation of the sketch on Fresh and Fun. Of course - it is a loose, very loose, interpretation. The little chick is so cute.

Supplies:

Patterned Paper - Basic Grey: Two Scoops
Stamp: See D's Bunnies and Chicks - at great buy for $10 - plus I had a coupon
Ink: Versamark; ColorBox Fluid Chalk Inkpad by Clearsnap, Inc.
Embossing Powder: Seafoam White by Ranger
Trim: Dollar Bin at JoAnn's - why didn't I buy more
Brads: Target dollar bin - why didn't I buy more of those
Stickles - Ranger

Embossed little chick. Inked edge of all patterned paper. Added Stickles to inside of little chick so it would sparkled (couldn't find the colored glitter). Glued the trim on - just added some little dots of Aileene's Tacky glue to the back.

Ivanka's Pig Fest Continued

Saturday in Wisconsin - update on weather - we have had sunshine for several days in the row and we almost hit 32 degrees - I was driving with my window open today - what can I say - great - while you drive down streets covered with ice ruts. But we should not enjoy it long - Monday and Tuesday we are suppose to get another storm.
Went shopping today - for not going for anything special I did spend some money. I did pick up 3 new die cuts for the Big Shot - did you know with the big dies you can cut fabric - very fun - bought a new "Bee" stamp - and Elaina Bea has a birthday coming so I can use that for her birthday card.
This card is for the Pig Fest going on at my friend Ivanka's blog. March 1 is National Pig Day. She is offering up prizes - so make sure you rush over and make a pig card and post it to her site - check out the history on how her pig collection started. I do believe there are a few "Wisconsin" pigs in that collection.
This card is also for the challenge on Caardvarks for friendship. This card is in honor of my wonderful friend Ivanka and her good humor. Sending HOGS your way.
Enjoy - stay tuned - there is another pig card this week.
Supplies:
Image is from an e mail
Patterned paper - Deja Views
Ribbon - My Little Shoebox
Little Round Trims - Around the Block
Punch - Stampin! Up

Pretty in Pink

Doesn't this make you think of spring - a dream and lots of melted snow away for us here in Wisconsin - but we have 4 days in a row without snow coming up - be still my heart. Now - to clear the sidewalk this week end. Every day before I go to work I put out a couple buckets of sand and I do the same when I come home from work - so hopefully when I start working on the sidewalk - the ice will be easier to get up.
But let's talk about this springy card - this was a hard card to photo to get the pink to show up the right color. It has already been mailed to some special people. The paper is the same paper that I used in the chicken card posted earlier - isn't it amazing how using a different approach with the colors and it looks so different. The felt flower with the bling is from the $1 bin at JoAnn's; flower stamp - See d's; ink - Marvy Matchables; little flower - Target $1 bin; thank you stamp Hero Arts. I also used my Cuddlebug embossing folder Swiss Dots.

A Poem in Honor of This Winter in Wisconsin

This is my story and I am sticking to it. Hope it makes you smile.

Barb

WISCONSIN POEM FOR YOU
It's winter in Wisconsin
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At twenty-five below.
Oh, how I love Wisconsin
When the snow's up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave Wisconsin
'Cause I'm frozen to the ground!

Happy Anniversary

I decided to try the weekly LOVE challenge over at Caardvarks. It was to make an anniversary card - there is a happy in front of the anniversary but it is lost in the pattern in the paper. Not sure I like it. I also combined it with the design challenge over on Card Positioning Systems.
The paper is by Stampin Up. A great assortment of brown prints. Cuddlebug hearts. De Ja Vue rub ons.

Want to Have Some Fun

Ivanka has invited everyone to come over to her blog and have a Pig Card Fest. Go check out her blog and see why she is planning such an extravaganza event. March 1 is National Pig Day.

Come along and play. She is even offering up a prize.

This is a card I made for Ivanka for her birthday one year. Image from the internet, Basic Grey paper.

I really think we should all ask her to post some pictures of her pig collection. She has posted a picture of the culprit that started the collection.

Another Day in Winter Paradise

Another wonderful day in Wisconsin - freezing rain, snow, YUCK. Yesterday I went out and ran errands and went in stores - I felt like I was on leave from prison - the weather and the car issues have kept me from doing much shopping. It was fun to just pop into stores and look around. Found some fun things in Target $1 bin. Went to the scrapbook store - of course - I bought some paper. Went to Hobby Lobby - of course - I bought some paper. And I used it. I actually made two cards out of it today.
Unfortunately the sun did not shine in Wisconsin today so the colors did not turn out too wonderful. If the sun doesn't shine on the week ends - I don't get any decent pictures taken.
This card is 6.25 x 4.5.
Paper - American Crafts - the goods
Stamp - Posh Limited Vertical Inspirations Kitchen Stamp Set
Ink - ColorBox Fluid Chalk Inkpad
Ribbon - ribbonFX
Brads - Making Memories
Sentiment Stamp - Studio G
This card is the first time I have particiapted in Beate's Challenge on her Blog Fresh & Fun. She posts a challenge every week and I thought I would play along.
Hopefully spring is just around the corner.

Happy Valentine's Day early

Here is a card I made for a "same Image swap" on Cococat's Card Site This is going in the mail tomorrow. We will all do our reveal next week - it is always exciting to see how differently everyone designed with the same image. I have already seen a couple of them on other blogs. Go check out Ivanka's - the link to her blog is on the right side here.
I colored the dress with Twinkling H2O's. Added Stickles to the flower wreath. I inked the heart doily - the doily was from the Target $1 spot. Boy I have not been there for awhile. The paper are all scraps that I had. Prima flowers. I added Stickles to the brads used to anchor the flowers. I very seldom do a white base on a card like that - but it seemed to work out. I like it anyway.
I am off to the wedding tomorrow. I will be meeting up with some good friends and do some wonderful bonding.
Happy Valentine's Day.

When did Wisconsin Move North to Alaska

I really would like to know when spring is coming - we are below zero with terrible wind chills and it is suppose to happen again tonight. Then tomorrow into Tuesday morning - more snow. We will beat the snow record from 78-79. Enough. Please bring spring.

Today's card is for Jackie and Blake - they have won a wedding from Dodge Motor company and it is happening at the car show in Chicago on Valentine's Day - I get to be one of the lucky guests. Read their story here.

I was going for an elegant tongue in cheek card - the tongue in cheek card would be the stamped image. I used watercolor paper for the base of the card and added the layers of red and black (Dodge colors).

Stamp - Gina K Designs

Paper - Reminisce

Hearts - Cuddlebug Diecuts

Happy Saturday

I had a baby shower to go to today. The couple is decorating the baby's room in a jungle theme - so that is why I went with such a non-traditional baby shower card.

This is a kickstand card - the papers I used are from Reminisce. The little monkey is from Target Gift Bag area - isn't he just the cutest - and he is also dimensional - the banana bunch came from the same assortment. I did the sentiment on the computer - the font is Barbara Hand.

The verse I added to the inside of the card is: There is nothing quite as darling as a baby sweet and small And the love that they bring is the greatest gift of all. After that I added - And it is just like Christmas-
now you have to just wait. The baby is not due until the middle of April.

It is snowing again in Wisconsin - we are on track to break the record - we will probably break it this week - and we have how many more weeks of winter left. My car and I did some bonding today - and it behaved - baby steps. I still have all the sticky mouse traps in my car.

Happy Friday

If you have followed my blog at all - you have heard the mouse/car ordeal I have been going through. My friend Annie sent me this very fun card to cheer me up.

Car update - I have the car back - too many dollars later - and I do hope it starts and keeps running. The car and I will have to build a new trust relationship.

We got around 15 to 20 inches of snow here. I dug out all day Thursday. Thank goodness for neighbors - brought the big snowblower over and dug me out. I was cleaned out so nicely and when I come home from work tonight - of course - they plowed the roads again and put all that crap in the end of my driveway.

I need to go make a card for a baby shower. It will have monkeys on it. Should be fun to make. I really just want to go lay down and start an evening of rest.

Winter Wishes - Snowed in Until Spring

Well we have passed the 12 inch snowfall amount and it is suppose to keep snowing. I am going to be here until spring. It is so white outside. I had no plans to go to work today - that is why I carry vacation days over - I don't know - if the winds stay blowing - if anyone will get out tomorrow. Oh well.
I did make one card so far. This is the card. I thought it was appropriate for the day. Very non traditional colors - but I did not want a Christmas snowman - I wanted a Winter snowman and maybe those other colors - are a hope that spring will come eventually.
The snowman and sentiment is by Gina K - it is part of her Let it Snow Set.
Embossed in Seafoam White.
Rub Ons - Me and My Big Ideas
Buttons - Favorite Findings - Blumenthal Lansing Co.
Acrylic Snowflake - Heidi Swapp
Brad - Hobby Lobby
Stickles
Acrylic Paint
Colorbox Chalk Ink
Paper - Basic Grey Two Scoop
I stamped the snowman on the teal paper and on the pink paper. I cut the scarf out of the pink paper and glued to the team snowman. Inked the edges of the teal paper with white chalk ink. The pink paper I edged with a brighter pink chalk in. I painted the back of the acylic snowflake and adhered it to the card with the snowflake brad. The card base I brushed acrylic paint around the edges to add more dimension and painted around the edges of the teal patterned paper. Added some snowflake rubons. It was a fun card to make.

Monday - more Mouse Woes

Monday - notice I did not say good - another chapter in the Mouse Woes at my house - so I got brave today and was going to drive my car to work. Put rubber bands around my pant legs - not critters up my pant legs - and got my stuff in the car - car turns over but does not stay started. So had to call the local repair/tow company - $100 this time for the repair on the car - same thing - chewed up air filter and plugged up air ducts so no air flow. The car is sitting out - I have enough poison in my garage to kill any critters. Hopefully no critters and a car that runs tomorrow - I do know how to pull out my air filter and check it before I take off. And guess what - more snow is heading toward Wisconsin. Picture sad face here.
So the card is for my friend Pat who has been hauling me back and forth to work
Paper - Daisy Bucket
Mouse stamp Stampabilities
Sentiment - Morning Star
Prima flowers - they were white and I wanted a brownish tone so I tea dyed some.
Everyone have a great evening and everyone do there - keep the mouse out of car dance.

Super Bowl Sunday

All of Wisconsin is in mourning - they were so close to cheering for the Packers at the Super Bowl - oh well - maybe the adds will be wonderful.
Update on the mouse situation - I caught a mouse in the car yesterday, took me until this morning to get up the courage to deal with the body. I did buy more poison and traps yesterday - I made a wonderful plate of peanut butter and poison and put on the floor of my garage under my car. My car - mice will eat it - and then crawl in my car to die - now maybe we should all take bets on whether I will be brave enough to drive my car to work tomorrow. Maybe I will put rubber bands around the bottoms of my pant legs.
So to the card - this is made from Basic Grey Fusion - it has been discontinued but I do have scraps in the - some 12 x 12 scraps. The stamps are Michael's $1 stamps from this year. The cut out heart is a Cuddlebug diecut. The card base is Bazzil and this is an accucut diecut. A different color for a valentine - no lumps - so it will be easy to mail.
Everyone have a great week. Hope mine is much better.

TGIF

This is another card using a postage stamp image. Used that wonderful Basic Grey paper that has been discontinued - I still have a few scraps left. The image is on the card so it extends over the top edge. It is the norma A2 size. I printed the image on a textured cardstock.

Go the US Postal Service and check out the stamp images and see what you can create.

Going to be a quiet week end around here - I think I will borrow a friends car and buy more mouse traps and put in the car. I put some sticky traps in there this morning and put out poison tonight. I am going to win this battle.

I recently had a project picked up by Ready Set Create - e zine - you purchase the issue and download it - great price - I think it is $4. It is two downloads and the first download was 100+ pages. The project was a cookbook, recipe cards and the inside of the cook book - I will post the project when I am able. They do have a call for birthday cards.

Everyone have a wonderful evening - I am enjoying a nice glass of wine and celebrating the end of a work week.
