Oldie Moldie Monday

I found this one sheet of double sided paper from Pebbles and decided to make some winter cards for Operation Write Home - yes it is time to start on those cards because it takes time to get them collected, shipped and mailed back to loved ones - at least being a winter card - they have a little longer shelf life than just a Christmas card.

My card bases are from the graduation programs.  I also found a partial sheet of green card stock and some pieces of blue to help with the design of the cards.

I believe the penguin and warm winter wishes sentiment is from Fiskars.  The  stickers are in my supplies.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies

Hip to be Square

It is fun to make a different shaped card sometimes.  This is a 4.25 square so it will still work for my Operation Write Home box - it can be mailed in an A2 envelope.  The paper is from Studio Calico.  The embellishments are from Basic Grey.  The banners were cut with the Silhouette.  Don't you think numbers are a great addition to a birthday card.

Everyone enjoy your Saturday.  I am going to go to work but finish off the day with a wedding and reception.  Going to attend with two fun ladies so I know it will be a good time. I only wish I knew where my other camera was.

Mixed Media Project

This is a mixed media project that I made as a joke for a friend.  She was babbling techy talk the other day and I called her a Geek and she said she waved her Geek flag very proudly.  So I decided to make her a Geek Flag.  It is about 12 inches at the widest point.  I cut the flag shape with my Silhouette and also the letters were cut with the Silhouette also.  Many layers of gesso and paint were added to the project.  I then used many rub ons on it.  The back even looks nice.

It is made out of two layers of canvas adhered together with Heat N Bond and then the edges are sewn together.

Hope you are enjoying my trip down the mixed media road.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Today I am showing some love to an old collection from Piggy Tales. These cards will go in my next Operation Write Home box.   By the time the cards get to our Heroes to mail home - these fallish colors will be wonderful.  Two feminine cards and one masculine (argyle screams masculine doesn't it - especially in these colors)

Everyone enjoy your Monday and the work week.  Come back tomorrow to see another mixed media project.

Born to Bowl Forced to Work

One of my co workers loves to bowl so I saw this great image on The Graphics Fairy - do a search on bowling and it comes up with a male and female vintage image.  This is a 5 x 7 canvas.  The paper is Basic Grey, the bowling pins are from Jolees.  The washi tape is from Studio G.  I really love those numbers - how great for a birthday card, canvas.  I did a little sewing.  There is even a piece of canvas on the canvas with paper sewed on it.

She really liked it and I really liked how it turned out also.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Oldie Moldie Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies - this paper is only from 6 x 6 so the dust has not even settled on it - I was just looking for paper with some great contrast to do the weekly sketch from Operation Write Home.

The paper is from Pebbles - beautiful bright colors - The wonderful stamp is new - it is from Studio G and I know I will get my $1.50 worth out of it.  I need to do a little adjustment to the end of the stamp - it goes a little up - you don't see that until you look close.  The other stamp is from Hero Arts - I paid more for it - it was in a set of three - but this set has been well used also.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies.  Enjoy your Monday.

Mixed Media Fun

This is a canvas I finally finished last week end.  It was for my assistant's birthday and Sonia loves butterflies - see the S on the wing - that is for Sonia.

Many layers of paint, gesso, tissue paper, ink sprayed on it - lots and lots of layers of stuff.  I am clearing out my rub ons on these canvases I make.  I love to use up some of my supplies.

The butterfly shape was cut with my Silhouette.  There are three layers glued together.  Lots of layers of paint added to the butterfly also.  When I went to adhere the butterfly to the canvas, the butterfly decided it wanted to let its wings be free so the butterfly is only adhered to the canvas in the center.  The wings are off the canvas floating.

Hope you enjoyed my trip into something other than cards.  I actually am working on two more mixed media pieces.  One is more traditional but another one is layers of paint also.  Would you believe that one is for a birthday in August - gee I am ahead of the calendar.  Hard to believe

Enjoy the remainder of your Sunday.  I must go make my Oldie Moldie Monday card.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Oldie Moldie Monday - time to show some love for your older supplies - some of our supplies are old enough to collect Social Security but then there are others that are just toddlers - I believe this 6 x 6 pad is just a toddler.  I do have a thing for collecting 6 x 6 pads.  This pad is from Basic Grey.  This card was based on the weekly sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch.  Here is the sketch.  I just moved my strip up a little more on the page.

I always struggle - is this CASE - it is not white - but there is plenty of open space - does that count.  I did one more card made from the pad - I made one last week also.

These cards are going into my next Operation Write Home Box.  They will bring smiles to some heroes family and friends when they receive them in the mail.

I finished my mixed media project - come back  on Tuesday to see that project.

SRM Stickers, Silhouette and Unscripted Sketches Unite

Disclaimer - the pinks match much better in real than in this photo.  OK - back to my regular scheduled post for today.

Yesterday I had a fun day just playing with paper - decompressing from work - rough part of the year for me so anytime I can decompress helps lots.

This card is based on the weekly sketch from Unscripted Sketches.  I changed the orientation of the rectangle and sentiment from the sketch as you can see.

I cut the white flower with my Silhouette, adhered it to the pink background.  I added the sticker and the pink background to the white accent mat and ran everything through the Cuddlebug to emboss it.  I always like the way your cutout seems to just melt into your paper.  I cut out a flower from another set of stickers after I had adhered it to a piece of paper and then pop dotted it on the center of the die cut.   I decided I needed a little ribbon on it to bring in some of the black in the sticker.

Everyone enjoy your Sunday - I am going to go into work for awhile - it is quiet and I can accomplish so much during this time.

Just a Penny Black Note

My Mom has recently gone to live in a nursing home so I want to send her a card or note once or twice a week especially on the weeks when I cannot come to visit.  She looked so good when I visited her last week end so I think she may thrive there - she is 94 and does pretty good except for that arthritis - I suppose if she was 20 years younger she would have knee replacement done.

Pink is my Mom's favorite color and she loves flowers.  Now you understand the theme for the card.

I have lots of white card stock that I am recycling from covers for commencement programs - they are just thrown away after the ceremony - so I pick up a bunch and recycle them.  This card is mostly from the recycled card stock.  It is a small card 4.25 x 3.  The stamps used are from Penny Black.  I inked the edges of a piece of the card stock so the pinks matched perfectly.  I added a little bling to the card for some extra contrast.

I am entering this in the challenge at Addicted to CAS.  The challenge is circles.  I have a few circles on this card.

Everyone have a great Saturday - today is a decompression day for me from work - because tomorrow I will go in for some quiet - gee I am able to focus - work time.
