Stampendous, Operation Write Home and Card Positioning System

More monkeys - thank you Stampendous for having your summer challenge - love happens every season.  Or so I have been told.

The midweek challenge at Stars and Stamps - Operation Write Home's card blog - is to make an anniversary card.  Although this does not say Happy Anniversary - I think it could be used for an anniversary card.  Who doesn't love two monkeys holding hands.

The card is based on the weekly sketch challenge at Card Positioning System.  Of course  on my card the big circle is my heart and the small circle on the sketch is a rectangle on my card.

I used the great colors in my Momenta pack I found at Tuesday Morning.  An SRM Sticker finishes off the card with a love sentiment.

Enjoy your Thursday - or is it Monday - weird work week - but 2 day work weeks are good.

Come back tonight - I found the Stampendous monkey stamps that are rain related - hopefully - making the cards will bring us some much needed rain and cooler weather.

Happy Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July - it is so toasty and dry toasty - in the State of Wisconsin.  We are suppose to hit 100 degrees today - I know for some parts of the country that is normal - but for Wisconsin it is not - we have a few 90 degree days a summer - but we are heading to record breaking numbers this summer.  I am hibernating from the heat and just playing with my paper.

My card today is based on the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

I made my card a little smaller - it is 5 x 4.  My image did not seem to fill enough of the card front - It is very hard for me to do somewhat clean and simple.  I have this paper collection I got at Tuesday Morning from Momenta - and I love all the colors in the collection - plus it is double sided.  I used a sticker from SRM Stickers and cut it apart to add a sentiment to the card.

Stampendous has a challenge for the month of June to make summer cards - they - plus the midweek challenge at Operation Write Home - broke out my monkeys to get inked.  Little Miss Monkey is bringing summer flowers to someone they love.  Thank you to the challenge for Stampendous for encouraging me to get out my monkey stamps and play with them.

The card is going to a special young woman who is starting her journey into the challenges of the working world.  She loves monkeys, she loves orange and she loves cards from her Miss Barb.

I must warn you - the monkey in the rain slicker is coming out next - maybe he will bring rain to the state of Wisconsin.

Inside

There is a song running around in my head as I made this card - I think Elvis may have sung it - "Blue Blue Christmas" - to be kind to all of you - I won't sing. It is not pretty - and something I avoid doing - well ok - I avoid doing around other people - of course - you sing when you are alone.
Hard to believe Christmas is so close - I still have some more holiday cards to make - I have some left in my basket but sometimes - none of them seem appropriate for the person you want to give them to. We will see if it happens - and then I thought it would be nice to give my hair stylist - 4 handmade cards - I probably have some but do I know where the coordinating paper is so I can finish the insides - no - so it is almost easier to make new cards.
I was giong to make a new recipe for dinner - well - it was suppose to go in the crock pot - so I guess tomorrow I will make it. I am sure I can find something to eat. We are in the midst of a storm - so far we have just had rain - but I am sure the snow is coming and then winds and bitter cold. Some parts of the state are under blizzard warnings. YUCK. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
My card today is for a special young lady in my life. I asked her her favorite color and she said it was blue - so thus the blue card. Caardvarks (their last challenge - thanks for all the inspiration) is to make a monochromatic card. This is pretty monochromatic - or pretty blue. It is also the sketch at Unscripted Sketches. It is a combination of papers. I had bought the blue snowflake stickers at Michael's - they added just the perfect finishing touch to my card and of course, those foam snowflakes I found at Michael's. They just dress up so nicely with the addition of Stickles. I had some already Stickled (is that a word) but the glitter was pinkish so I had to Stickle some new ones with a Stickle that had a blue cast to it. I also paper pieced the cup.
Everyone have a wonderful evening - stay warm.

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Good Tuesday morning. I probably should never post in the morning - because I am still half asleep and not too talkative.
This card was made for the challenges on Hero Arts Flicker site this week end. I love the softness of the colors. The challenge was to make a blue and silver holiday card. I do wish I had more of this paper. The paper is in a paper pad I bought at Tuesday Morning. It would be such an easy way to make some holiday cards for Operation Write Home.
Everyone have a wonderful day.
