Inside

There is a song running around in my head as I made this card - I think Elvis may have sung it - "Blue Blue Christmas" - to be kind to all of you - I won't sing. It is not pretty - and something I avoid doing - well ok - I avoid doing around other people - of course - you sing when you are alone.
Hard to believe Christmas is so close - I still have some more holiday cards to make - I have some left in my basket but sometimes - none of them seem appropriate for the person you want to give them to. We will see if it happens - and then I thought it would be nice to give my hair stylist - 4 handmade cards - I probably have some but do I know where the coordinating paper is so I can finish the insides - no - so it is almost easier to make new cards.
I was giong to make a new recipe for dinner - well - it was suppose to go in the crock pot - so I guess tomorrow I will make it. I am sure I can find something to eat. We are in the midst of a storm - so far we have just had rain - but I am sure the snow is coming and then winds and bitter cold. Some parts of the state are under blizzard warnings. YUCK. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.
My card today is for a special young lady in my life. I asked her her favorite color and she said it was blue - so thus the blue card. Caardvarks (their last challenge - thanks for all the inspiration) is to make a monochromatic card. This is pretty monochromatic - or pretty blue. It is also the sketch at Unscripted Sketches. It is a combination of papers. I had bought the blue snowflake stickers at Michael's - they added just the perfect finishing touch to my card and of course, those foam snowflakes I found at Michael's. They just dress up so nicely with the addition of Stickles. I had some already Stickled (is that a word) but the glitter was pinkish so I had to Stickle some new ones with a Stickle that had a blue cast to it. I also paper pieced the cup.
Everyone have a wonderful evening - stay warm.

Good Saturday evening. We had our first snow of the season - luckily it was not too heavy. I went to get my snowblower ready to go - filled the gas tank - primed the engine - went in the house - I know I need to prime the engine awhile before it will start. I started smelling gas - all the gas - drained out of the snowblower onto the garage floor. Yuck - it was not on my list of things to scrub the garage floor. My car probably reeks - I will have to move it outdoors tomorrow and open up the windows to air it out. Now I need to get the snowblower repaired. Not something I wanted to do.
I needed a gift card holder - so put together one - it is the challenge at Caardvarks - the challenge ends today. Boy I made it under the wire.
I am not too talky tonight - tired - had to shovel the sidewalk and driveway - but little Mr. Hunter - 9 year old neighbor - came over to help me shovel and then another neighbor showed up and helped and we had it done. It only cost me some hot cocoa.
Hopefully I will be able to find some time to create - I need to get Christmas cards in the mail and I need two birthday cards. Gotta get busy.

Good Monday Morning – yes it is Oldie Moldie Monday – I think this is my last post with this particular gouping of oldie moldie paper. I have gotten to the point that when I look at the paper – my stomach rolls – it is beautiful paper and I have made some wonderful cards for Operation Write Home and for myself for the holidays but enough. I have my cards to put the inside in yet and that will use the majority of the remaining paper.

This card is based on the sketch at Unscripted Sketches – I just flipped it the long way. I think this maybe the first time I have done one of their sketches. I also finished the inside of the card which is the current challenge on Caardvarks. As I have said before, as I make my holiday cards – I want to finish the inside and address the envelope so they are almost ready to go – I want to add a personal note right before I send. This card is slid into an envelope with the recipients name on the envelope – no address yet – I have to dig through my e mail for it. I have been away from sketches for awhile – I was trying to get lots of holiday cards made for Operation Write Home – right now I am focusing on my Thanksgiving and Christmas cards. So far today I have done 4 sketch challenges.

Would you believe it is time to make valentine cards for Operation Write Home? I have got some started. OWH will be having a blog hop in honor of Veteran’s Day. I will be offering up some type of blog candy that day. I am still trying to figure out what I will do for my post. Do you have any suggestions?

Well it is time to head off to work – I hope you enjoy the last of my posts with this particular grouping of paper.

I do dislike when the cold months arrive because I never have a chance to take pictures of my cards in natural light. I get some natural light in my office so I do try to take pictures at work. So now we can talk about the other things I dislike about the cold months - but I don't think anyone wants to hear that kind of language. :)
My card tonight is a start on holiday cards - my goal is to make my card, finish the inside and address the envelope all in the same timespan - so then when it comes time to mail cards - I will be ready. this is my first card that has 2 parts of the three step program done.
Caardvarks is having a challenge on their blog. Gee - I am lucky - it fits with my three step program - outside and inside of card. Their beautiful cards were made with Penny Black stamps - for some reason - I have a hard time finding her stamps around here. I even was able to use a Penny Black stamp I already owned - another penguin card. I think most of my cards this year are going to be penguins - might as well have a theme. The paper is from a pad I bought - Prima - very fun papers - a very non traditional colored holiday card. The addition of a couple SRM stickers finished off the card perfectly.
Well I must go and try to do something worthwhile - I tried to get a new Copic marker tonight because the color I need - the pen went dry and the store was out of that color. Maybe Hobby Lobby will have the color - I hope - I found this paper I want to use for cards for Operation Write Home. Oldie moldie paper.
Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Good late afternoon - another day of work done - got lots done which always makes you feel good. Now I wish I would accomplish something here at home. Oh gee - the week end is coming but did you know Saturday is World Cardmaking Day and I am actually going to be home so I might be able to play along a couple places. Maybe I should get some cards laid out so I can be ready for challenges on Saturday. Hmmmmmm - now I could do that.

Tonight I am sharing a card I made for a challenge on the SRM Stickers blog site - they are hosting a challenge for the Operation Write Home birthday celebration. They have a great sketch to inspire you. You have until Thursday evening to enter. Stop over and check it out.

This card also qualifies for the Clean and Simple challenge on Caardvarks. Pretty clean and simple for me. (insert big smile)

Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Good evening - today I am going to share a card I made for my neighbor - Hunter - I believe he celebrated his 9th birthday. Hunting is a big thing in his family so this totally fits Hunter. Last night he was hunting squirrels in my yard - his weapons of choice were rocks and walnuts.
Caardvarks has a challenge going on for Clean and Simple. For me this is a pretty clean and simple card. I guess it all depends on your definition of clean and simple. I can make a card that has 10/12 layers on it so this is pretty simple for me.
This Basic Grey paper group works well for a masculine card plus they are earthy enough to go well with the deer stamp. I like the one color stamping - easy peasey - no coloring required. I added some simple metal brads in two different sizes for a contrast finish. The addition of an SRM Happy Birthday sticker completes the birthday card.
Everyone have a productive evening - hopefully you get to be creative. Hmmm - I wonder if there is anything new I want to watch on TV tonight.

Thursday - 3/25/10

Do you realize Christmas is 9 months from today? OK - now that we are in a panic mode - no holiday cards made yet - let's sit back and enjoy Easter and spring. It is very chilly here but the weather man is dangling a carrot saying it is suppose to be 70 degrees at the end of next week - I hope so - I would so love to be home and to be able to open my house up some.
I am taking Friday off so I have a 3 day week end - going to an adult PJ party on Saturday where my friend Shari is the guest of honor - it will be great fun. Watch movies, talk, giggle, maybe drink a little, eat too much. I am going to make stuffed shells - no recipe - going to wing it. I know what I want to use - and I bought it - but chicken and broccoli, alfredo sauce and lots of cheese. Cheese makes everything taste good. I hope. I will let you know.
Last night I decided to channel vintage into my card. I have this beautiful vintage paper by Karen Foster so I knew I wanted to use lace on it. The sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You - made into a 5 x 7 card - highlighted some of the beautiful bunny paper. Caardvarks also has the challenge to use lace on a stamped card. If you look carefully - the sentiment is stamped in the corner of the card - the sentiment is from Stampendous. I had bought the cream buttons last night on clearance at Hobby Lobby - and they worked perfectly on the card.
Well everyone have a wonderful evening. I am a little tired tonight - don't know if I will create much - I do need to make some recipe cards for the PJ party of Shari's favorite recipe. Peanut butter balls. Yummy - I will share the recipe and recipe card later.

Sunday - February 28

Good Sunday evening - where did that 3 day week end go. It was a good week end. So now this post is going to be short because something happened to my first post. Hopefully this one works.

The card is based on the Tuesday Trigger on Moxie Fab World. The Tuesday Trigger was a beautiful yellow card. This is my take on the trigger. I used kraft paper, yellow, have a bow with a button on it and a border at the top of the card. It also qualifies for the challenge on Caardvarks which is to use a sticker. I finally found the SRM stickers for cards at a store in Madison. Yeah. Such an easy way to finish off a card.

Everyone have a wonderful evening - I need to do some laundry, etc. Dishes - I cooked today - so I have a mess to clean up. Come back tomorrow for Oldie Moldie Monday.

Patterned Paper: Gooseberry Patch
Button: from button supplies
Ribbon: Thank you Ivanka

Friday - 2-26-2010

Good evening - I had a wonderful day with my friend Mary stimulating the paper crafting economy - took her to a new store she had never been to - so that is always fun to introduce Mary to someplace new. Bought lots of new stuff - more ribbon - as if I don't have enough. We had a nice lunch at Panera and then we went to a new Ben Franklin - we found the cutest project there that we are going to make - hopefully soon. And I bought more ribbon. I only bought two more stamps but when I got home - my Papertrey Ink order had arrived - so I am excited - I am going to play tonight. Check out some of the sketches and see what inspires me. I do need to make a birthday card this week end - purple in color.

Caardvarks is sponsoring a challenge using Stickers - the challenge is sponsored by SRM Stickers. The challenge is to use stickers - since I have no SRM Stickers - I used one of the beautiful Penny Black floral stickers - need a touch of spring in our snowy world.

Everyone have a wonderful evening and a great week end - I hope it includes lots of creativity.

Good Sunday morning

I am up early today - hard to believe my 5 day week end is almost over with - but I did spend 3 days on the road so I guess that makes a difference. Woke up to rain this morning - at least it is not snow - I know that will be coming soon - I just hope we have a mild winter in regards to snow - we have been hit pretty hard the last two winters. If they could figure out a way for it not to snow on the roads and my sidewalk and driveway - I might not have a problem with it.

I have been getting some holiday cards made so that is good. I really need to figure out how many I need to make- This card is based on the sketch at Stamps and Smiles. Every Thursday they host a sketch - I like a Thursday sketch because you have the week end to get it created. I had colored this image awhile ago and decided this was the perfect sketch for it. Caardvarks is also hosting a challenge for coloring - so this works perfectly for their challenge also. I hope you enjoy my design. Everyone enjoy your Sunday - tomorrow it is back to work. I don't think I plan on taking off any more time before Christmas unless I need some mental health vacation.

Patterned Paper - Bo Bunny (I think I have used all of this grouping up - just enough left for the insides of my cards)
Stamp – Hero Arts colored with Copics – stamped on patterned paper
Ribbon – Offray
Snowflakes – from my huge bag of snowflake embellishments – I know the bottom snowflakes are from a holiday garland

Good Monday Evening

Good evening to all - survived another day of work which is always good. A quick post tonight - I am doing my run around and water the lawn routine tonight - do need to figure out the other sprinkler - but my new hose is not long enough so need to go buy another small hose. Oh well it is only money - money I could be spending on card making supplies - all those new holiday papers should be coming soon and of course I need them even though I have containers full - a girl just can't have enough paper or rubber stamps. Or Mama could use some more Copics.
My card tonight is the birthday card for the little sweetie that lives next door - she turned 8 on Saturday. She loved her card and she also loves to make cards. Do you ever find that you keep using the papers that are laying out - I sure do - so if you look back in the blog you will find more orange cards.
The card is based on the sketch challenge at Caardvarks - it is sketch 3 - I have enjoyed their 3 sketches - I guess they talked to me.
Stamp - Hampton Art colored with Copics
Paper - My Mind's Eye
Ribbon - Offray
Fiskar's Border Punch

Guess I need a Title - Title Unknown

Sunday evening - I want another 3 day week end - trying to get everything done so I am ready to start a full 5 day work week - it has been awhile since I have worked on - I don't know if I can do it. My outside remodel has been finished. They finished on Saturday and now I have the fun of watering the new grass seed and hope it grows very well. I was out at 7 this morning doing this. I know what my Monday night fun will be.
TV tonight is a real challenge - the Packers are playing the Bears; the women finals in the US Open tennis tournament and at 9 - the final show in the HGTV Design Star. Oh my - lots of surfing tonight.
My card tonight is based on one of the 3 sketches at Caardvarks - this is Sketch 2 - come back tomorrow for Sketch 3.
Stamp - Hero Arts
Paper - Crate Paper
Rub On - Crate Paper

Saturday - where did the week go

Hopefully 3rd time is a charm to get this card posted. Blogger and I are not friends tonight.
This card was done for the challenge at Caardvarks. Caardvarks is a card challenge blog. Fun place to visit. This challenge is two sketches done by the two young women over at
2 Sketches 4 You - Laura and Kazan. They have a sketch on their site each Monday.

My card is based on Laura's sketch.

Paper and Brad- Kaiser Scrapbooking
Rub on - Imaginisce
Fiskar's Border Punch
Sizzix die cut for flower - it started out light blue - amazing what a little ink can do.
Ink - Colorbox Chalk Ink by Clearsnap
Stickles by Ranger

Enjoy.
