Oldie Moldie Monday and Operation Write Home

I am trying to show some love to an older 6 x 6 pad from Echo Park "It's a Boy's Life."  Guess what I made boy cards for Operation Write Home.

The airplanes and the sentiment about the plane are from Taylored Expressions.  The robot is from Stampabilities.  I used a Hero Arts sentiment for happy birthday and an SRM Sticker. The missing you sentiment is from Paper Smooches.  The card stock was all from my scrap box.  I have a couple pieces of paper left and they may get thrown in the scrap box now.  I guess next week I need to make some girl cards.

Fun little cards to make.  Some little boys will be very happy to get mail from their Hero.

Enjoy your Monday.

You Are My Sunshine - Version 2

Yesterday's post used the same stamp and the same sun image.  We are just changing it up a little with a larger sun and different layout.

Taylored Expressions Stamp
Authentique Paper
Silhouette Cameo die cutting machine

I based somewhat loosely the design of the cards on the sketch at Just Add Ink.   As always, when I use a sketch, I say loosely.  I did not add a bow to the card because it is for Operation Write Home and wanted to keep it a little less bulky.  My sentiment takes up quite abit of space also.  Here is the sketch.

Everyone enjoy your Sunday.  I have lots to accomplish today.  I have already got my Oldie Moldie Monday cards done.  Yeah.  Anything I do cardmaking today is a bonus.

You Are My Sunshine

I just mailed off a box of cards to Operation Write Home and now I have sprouted the next box with two of this design.  I know I have some Hero Mail at work from a school so maybe I can get a few cards done also to go in with the Hero Mail.

The card was "loosely" based on the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch.  I turned the sketch on its side to accommodate my sentiment and sun.  Here is the sketch.

Doesn't the background paper look like a dark sky and then you have the sun sitting on top of it.  That is my story and I am sticking to it.  The stamp is by Taylored Expressions and the sun was cut with my Silhouette.  The paper is from Authentique.

Everyone enjoy your day.  I do need to do some shopping and trying to decide when to go.  Before the football game or after the football game.  Such difficult decisions.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Another card - different layout - but same papers and stamps from last week.  Come back next week - you will probably see the last card made into a card.

Too much to do to get too many cards made.  The leaves have finally fallen so I had to rake some.  I also had chicken cooking today to make home made broth for Thanksgiving dinner.  Now to clean that mess up and finish the laundry and get ready for work tomorrow.

Oh too much to do and too little time.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Busy day - I only got one card made for Oldie Moldie Monday.  This cute stamp set is from Taylored Expressions.  The paper is an old 6 x 6 pack from Echo Park.

Assisting with a Veteran's Day activity on campus.  A Cardmaking Project for Operation Write Home with the Pathway Students.  I hope we have lots to come.

I have two kits prepped.  One is 12 thank you cards - very simple ones and then 6 of another card.

Oldie Moldie Monday Does Paper Players Challenge

Oldie Moldie Monday - time to show some love for some old supplies.  This is Making Memories Paper - an old 6 x 6 pad - has greens and blues in it.  The challenge at Paper Players this week is to make a CAS masculine birthday card.  This is one of my favorite masculine stamps - I guess it could be a feminine pick up truck - my girls first vehicle was a brown pick up.  I stamped on pattern paper.

I made a couple more cards out of the same paper for my next Operation Write Home box.  It needs to be shipped out soon.

Remember to show some love for your old supplies - they still make great cards - because it is the cardmaker who can make it look good even though it is well aged.

Operation Write Home and Taylored Expressions Unite

When I go shopping, many times the stamps I buy for card making are cards that will work for Operation Write Home cards.  This sentiment is part of a set of stamps from Taylored Expressions called Happy Heart.  There are four wonderful sentiments in the set.  Yes this could be a valentine card but I think it is really a love card.  It could also be a friendship card.  It is all in the heart of the sender and receiver who it is meant.

The monthly challenge on Operation Write Home's card blog - Stars and Stamps - that is sponsored in conjunction with Our Daily Bread Designs is "sentiments."  My sentiment is the focal point of my card.  ODBD generously will pay for shipping on a box of cards to our heroes on each 25 cards submitted in the challenge - up to 50 cards.  Thank you for doing this for our heroes and their families.

My box should be shipped soon.  I will have another packed of hero notes from my retired coworker friend on Monday.  I really appreciate her help.

I am off to watch the Badger football game and make some favors for a bridal shower at work.

Ok I have straightened the image on the card. Sorry.

Happy Halloween. Hope all your treats are good today and no overeating all the candy. I do not hand out halloween treats - too many big kids - so for my special children in the neighborhood - I went to Papa Murphys and bought their pumpkin pizza - looks like a jack o lantern. I will have to hide in the basement during trick or treat hours - oh gee - I will have to make cards.

Today I am trying to work on the house and make cards - I do believe I have been making more cards than working on the house - shame on me. I must go finish the bathroom - I wanted to get down on my hand and knees and scrub the tile but I don't think my back will tolerate that - next week end - I will do that first thing.

Today's card is based on the sketch at Taylored Expressions. I haven't been doing too many sketches lately. Been working on my Operation Write Home Cards so tend to mass produce the same simple designs. I bought this beautiful paper last year and luckily I could find it to make my cards. This is a new stamp I bought this week at Hobby Lobby (50% off) - it will be a good stamp for OWH cards next year. One color stamping. On Tuesday I will have a couple more cards using these same papers and stamps. I wonder how many cards I can get out of 4 sheets of double sided patterned paper. Two sheets of paper are identical.

Everyone have a great evening and week. I need to do my laundry yet and all kinds of other things I would rather ignore so I could make cards.

Thursday 4-8-10

Good Thursday evening - yeah one more day to the week end and the weather is suppose to be in the 60's. The doors and windows can be open. I probably won't do too much outside until I get the all clear on my eye which will happen next week. I do like Friday's - last day of the work week but also I can wear my Jeans to work - they are in the laundry as we speak - now to find a top to wear with them.
My card tonight is based on the weekly sketch at Taylored Expressions. A new sketch every Friday. I decided I needed to use a new set of stamps I got from Papertrey. I love the images and all the sentiments that go with it. I know many people this would be an appropriate card to be send to them. I may have to draw a name out of a bowl or make some more. The coloring of those buttons takes awhile.
Everyone have a good evening - I think I want to do some clearing - but then once again - I have some cards swirling around in my head - best get them made.

Tuesday 3-30-10

Good Tuesday evening. Beautiful windy spring day here in Wisconsin and the next couple days are suppose to be even better. Love spring. The tulips are starting to peak through the ground - I can't wait to see what the flower garden looks like this spring. Maybe there will be some photo ops with beautiful tulips.
Really not much to say tonight - I think I have the beginnings of a cold which I don't want. Results showtonight for Dancing - can't wait to see who goes home - oh please - oh please - let it be Buzz and Kate. Please.
Today's card is based on the sketch at Taylored Expressions. This card would be a great mother's day card or just a card to encourage someone. I did not do very much stamping on the card but the paper and flowers are very beautiful. Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Mini Card

Good late Sunday afternoon. A day to catch up on laundry, cleaning, etc. I still need to do the dishes and eat some dinner. I then plan to head to the hospital to visit my friend Shari for a little while. Haven't been there since Friday evening. Miss her.
Went to see my Mom yesterday. It was a little dicey the first leg of the trip but after the first ten miles the roads were OK. I talked real sweet to my car going over a bridge to stay straight because I could feel the wheels slipping and sliding. Whew - we made it across. The rest of the trip was fine. On the way home - I stopped in Madison and did a little shopping. Retail therapy does such wonderful things to your attitude. Not that I needed anything but when was that an excuse not to buy. I did get some of the new Tim Holtz die cuts for 5 1/2 inch card borders - want to try them soon.
Today's card is loosely based on the sketch at Taylored Expressions. I turned the sketch on it's side since I already had this bunny colored and wanted to use it. This grouping of paper from We R Memory Keepers is so springy that it is fun to use. I do wish I had some more of the words on this card but this was the last little bit of that particular piece of paper.
The second card is just a quick little card to put in the mail to my Mom this week. Her name is Bea so that is why I wanted to use this little bee. Of course, it has been sitting around uninked for quite some time and needed to be used.
Well I must close and do my dishes, eat some dinner and get ready to go to the hospital. Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Good Tuesday morning - I don't know if posting in the morning is that good of an idea - I really don't have too much to say when I just get out of bed and haven't had my first cup of coffee.
My cards today are dragonfly cards - Taylor is having a dragonfly card call on her site. You can stil send her cards - I think if you look you will be surprised at the number of stamps you have that are dragonflies. I actually found a beautiful set of paper from Kaiser Scrapbooking that I have used on many of my cards. I have used all this group of paper now. The first card is also based on the weekly sketch at Taylored Expressions.
Everyone have a wonderful day.

Tuesday - 3-2-10

Good Tuesday morning. Since my cards are made I thought I would post before I head off to work today.
The first card is based on this weeks sketch at Taylored Expressions - the last card is a sketch from a previous week that I wanted to do but never got done and middle card I just wanted to show off the beautiful dragonfly paper. Taylor is having a call for cards with a dragonfly theme. You can read more about the call for cards at this link. I do need to go buy another sheet of the dragonfly paper for cards. I love double sided paper but if yo are making mulltiple cards out of a paper and need both sides - you run out very quickly. The backside is the dark green - a wonderful accent for your cards.
Well a short post - because I need to enjoy my cup of coffee before I get ready for work. Every one have a wonderful day.

Sunday - February 21, 2010 Dragonfly Card Drive

I have finally joined the ranks of people who finally feel good. Two weeks with a horrible cold zapped everything out of me - not only was it the cold but I had a reaction to a medicine which contributed to my exhaustion. But I am better - and I got to create and I also got some housework done. Yeah!! All ready for the next snow storm to come through. Boo - hiss.
My first card is based on the weekly sketch at Taylored Expressions - Taylor is also sponsoring the Dragonfly Card Drive which benefits Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to support families who have lost a child in the early days of their life. You can read more about the Dragonfly Card Drive at this link. If a card that I have made can comfort a family in their time of loss I am very humbled by the opportunity to make some cards for this worthwhile card drive.

Tuesday - 2-9-10

Good snowy Tuesday morning to you all. Yes it is snowing in Wisconsin - at least it covers all the dirty snow out there. I am still home sick but this morning I actually felt maybe I had turned the corner.

I made a quick card last night to send to my son in law who just got a job in his area of study. He is very excited. I used the sketch from Taylored Expressions - I just put the stripe at the bottom over the top of my image - I wanted to highlight the blue. I don't have much left of this BG paper - I really liked it for masculine projects. It could have qualified for Oldie Moldie monday also. The Hero Arts stamp is so versatile - male/female, different occasions, etc.

Thanks everyone for stopping by and now I am thinking it must be about time for the morning nap.

Long Day of Work

I put in a 10 hour day at work today but I did accomplish lots so that makes it worthwhile. Busy time of the year for me. I doubt if there is too much creativity in my bones tonight - maybe I will just sit on the couch and watch tennis - probably watch tennis through my eyelids.
Today's card is based on the sketch at Taylored Expressions and I guess it also qualifies for the challenge on Our Creative Corner since it is blue and green. That was a happy accident. A card to be sent to Shari to cheer her. I used some older paper which is good - now I think I will give it away to a scrapper - she doesn't have lots of money so she will love getting the paper grouping.
I also finished the inside of the card and have include a picture of it.
Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Happy Hump Day

Yeah - we have made it over the middle of the week - on the downward slide to the week end - gee - I am going to be camping this week end - in a luxury RV parked in my friend's yard. Hopefully we don't get any trick or treaters.
I made a Christmas card last night. I based my card on the sketch at Taylored Expressions. Every Friday - a new sketch to help your creativity. Did not get a chance to play last week - I just hate it when work gets in the way of creating. I have a bag of snowflake stuff - buttons, soft snowflakes, etc - so when I go to make a card where I need a snowflake embellishment - I have to dig through everything in the bag - it then looks like I had a blizzard on my tabletop. Isn't my new stamp cute - stopped at Creative Pals in Milwaukee area (home of the Whipper Snapper stamps) and they were also having an unmounted rubber sale so I got 8 more stamps - a couple cute bunnies. The added snowflake on the circle with penguin - well there was an ink spot which needed to be covered.
Everyone have a wonderful evening - playing with a very late birthday card tonight - not coming together real well - I may have to just ditch some of the elements and see what I can come up with.

Brrrrr - cold too early

Good evening. The weather in Wisconsin has been so strange - very cool summer - and now fall is cold - we are in the 30's - I already had to turn on my furnace and normally I can hold out until November - maybe I am just turning into a woose. The leaves have not even fallen off my big oak trees - the neighborhood kids are waiting for this to happen - so they can rake leaves and play in them. We have the most fun and they look forward to it every year - don't tell anyone - so do I. Makes raking the leaves fun.
I found a little time to create last night - of course - I was trying to watch Dancing With the Stars - hmmmm - I wonder who will go home tonight.
This card is based on the sketch at Taylored Expressions - the sketch challenge which is posted every Friday. This week from the posts they are going to pick three new designers - everyone is bringing out their best creativity. Make sure you stop over and check everyone's creations. I agonized over the placement of the three items next to the rectangle. I think I had every snowflake I own and a few other 100 things out trying to find the best thing to place there. I finally ended up these 3 snowflakes. Still don't know if it was what I wanted - but at some point - you have to put it down and walk away. Taking pictures of my creations is becoming a challenge - getting dark, cloudy etc lately. I need to get something set up at work (shhhhh don't tell anyone).
Paper - Kaiser Scrapbooking
Stamp - Whipper Snapper Designs colored by Copics
Scallop - recycled white chipboard cut with the QuicKutz Scallop border (adhered paper strip to the back of the chipboard border and then rubbed Stickles over all the paper) Love the little glitter.
Pom Pom trim - May Arts
Stickles was added to the middle of the snowflakes on the pink patterned paper
Snowflakes - Darice

Look Ma - No Cavities

Had my semi annual dental check up - always glad to go and there are no problems. I think I would rather have a baby than dental work. But I did get to leave work early so there are some pluses - already home, done with the dentist and now I can do some things around here - like play with paper.
My card tonight is based on the weekly sketch at Taylored Expressions. I did mine a little different in that I had my image hang off the edge of the card so I could see more of the cute cupcake paper. The paper is from Bella Blvd. The stamp is either Hero Arts or Inkadinkado - and I am too lazy to find out which. I colored the image with my copics. I used some of the paper from Gina K for stamping on - wonderful paper - but I always have to practice on a sample before I color on good paper.
Everyone have a wonderful evening.

Almost the Week End

One more day of work - yeah - need to get lots done tomorrow - got my hair cut tonight and ran some errands. I worked on some recipe pages I am doing - got some of the pieces ready to go on the page. Hopefully I can finish those this week end and get started on another one. I joined a swap group - only 7 in the group so not too many to do.

Tonight's card is for friends of my daughter. I think the baby is a couple months old so I am not too far behind. It is based on the sketch at Taylored Expressions. She has some wonderful stamps I covet but I am trying not to buy online. Here is a close up of the baby - I think it is such a sweet little stamp. I colored it with my Copics - I do think my coloring is getting better. I have been working on that new year's resolution to learn how to color.

Everyone have a wonderful week end.
