Saturday, November 13, 2010 Time to Hop

Good Saturday morning – yes it is the day we have been waiting for – the blog hop for Operation Write Home in honor of Veteran’s Day – for Valentine’s Day. Gee – yes – yupers – you got it – it is time to think Valentine’s Day for the troops – even though you know we are still struggling to get our own holiday cards made. That is OK. The deadline for valentine cards for OWH is to have your cards to the shippers by January 7 …..but if you can get your valentine cards to OWH before December 1 – Archway will donate cookies to the troops – the goal is 4000 cards/4000 cookies – I do hope that is boxes of cookies. So get your craft on and make those Valentine Cards – we want the troops to get lots of good cookies and lots of valentines – my personal goal is 50 – I hope I make it – I think I have 10 to 20 made or ready to be assembled. I am not a mass production cardmaker – but have found for OWH I need to do it a little more.

Have you voted today at Craft for a Cause at JoAnn Fabrics for OWH – every 24 hours you can vote – just think if OWH could win – how many boxes of cards could be mailed with the prize winnings – you can vote through December 4.

Now onto my cards – I have a large collection of monkey stamps so I thought they would be fun for valentine cards. As you can see I had a problem – I could not decide which way I should place the image. Which way do you think the image should be placed -- Monkey upside down or monkey right side up. Leave a comment and you will be entered into a drawing for some blog candy – the big prize is the new soldier stamp from Whipper Snapper Designs and then I will also mail out 3 sets of monkey love images for you to make cards out of. Sorry – you will need to color them yourself.

I also had this other monkey valentine stamp so I had to make a card out of him also. I had just bought this pad of Cosmo Cricket paper so I used up entirely 3 sheets of 6 x 6 patterned paper for the 3 cards. I know it is a little untraditional in the colors but I like to be a rebel in my color choices. Who said you couldn’t use orange for Christmas. I can – can you? Gee that could be another challenge.

Now to continue your fun – you must hop onto to Joy's blog - Dustypenny Designs - to see what fun things are to be shared there. Enjoy your hopping.

After all this hopping – we are going to be very tired cardmakers – we will just have to sit and make more “love” cards.

Card details:
Size: 4.25 x 5.5
Patterned Paper: Cosmo Cricket
Stamps: Stampendous colored with Copics
Heart cut with Spellbinders diecut
Brad: Hobby Lobby
Sticker: SRM Stickers

  52. I like the monkey right side up (2nd card), but am not so fond of the upside down sentiment. I'm a newbie cardmaker and only have digi stamps so far ... can you mask the stamp so that the monkey is right side up, but hold off inking the sentiment & turn the text right side up to stamp? Not sure how to word that - guess my newbie-ness is showing (*smile*). I'd love to win the goodies, though!
